CM's=bad / park guests=good

Out of a 6 day stay and tons of CM's, only 2 stand out as not great. The first was Pocohontas in MK - she wasn't horrible, but not real great either, trying to rush the kids through the process.

The other was a security check officer in Epcot, who took offense at DH's t-shirt, which he had worn all day to MK. It had Cartman from South Park on it and had a small saying on it that said "Kick ***". The Epcot security guard first called my DH Mary Poppins because he was carrying my bag - then he told DH he would have to turn his shirt inside out becuase this was a family park. Keep in mind, we are there in the evening when the clevage and booze are free flowing. He was almost to the point of not allowing us entry. I thought DH was going to loose it - so I said the the man that I would buy DH another shirt once in the park - har.

I'd say the people surrounding you were probably thinking what a good CM he was for telling your husband that his shirt was inappropriate.

I mean, come on. The word is even blocked out in this forum, whether they did it or you did it, obviously people find it inappropriate.

I'd laugh my butt off seeing a shirt like that in a nightclub or other adult environment, but is it really necessary to wear something like that where you've got people of all ages and sensibilities?

We just went to an amusement park where I saw a guy wearing a shirt saying, "Your girlfriend f___s like a champ" and I thought he was the biggest jerk in the world for wearing that in that kind of environment. Again, in a bar... no big deal. But in front of my family ??? Please.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a CM. We went this past June (4-14) and had wonderful CM experiences!!! We stayed at SOG and after a wonderful dinner at O'hana's, a Poly CM' drove us back to SOG in a golf cart. When we wanted to tip him he said no thank you. Wow, what a nice gesture!!!! Our seven year old daughter had the most MAGICAL experience at the 1900 Park Faire princess dinner. The GF restaurant manager picked DD to open up the dinner. She was so happy and was smiling from ear to ear. This was especially special to us because ever since DD's older brother had a grand mal seizure back in October, we have not seen very many smiles. My husband and I just cried, it was great to see our daughter smile again!!!!! When I thanked the GF manager, he gave me his business card and told us to let him know if there was anything else he could to do help us. I must say THANK YOU DISNEY FOR BRINGING SOME JOY BACK INTO OUR FAMILY!!!

We were at Disney for five days in June. Our other two trips were in 2000 and 2002. There were certainly CMs who stood out for their kindness; particularly one evening when my son was using a wheelchair and wanted to ride Thunder Mtn. A CM appeared out of nowhere and guided us to a special entrance. However, overall, my husband said, "The magic just wasn't there this time," referring to the CMs attitudes. Not that they were overtly rude; they just weren't exhibiting that Disney happiness! Our other 2 trips were in April, so maybe part of the problem was the huge crowds of people this time. I'm sure it takes a special person to be happy all day when dealing with lots of tired, hot guests.

I have to agree with this poster. Wearing these kinds of shirts to a FAMILY park INMO is not appropriate. My kids are young enough they can't read yet. I'll be dreading the day when my kids see a shirt like, "It had Cartman from South Park on it and had a small saying on it that said "Kick ***", or a shirt that had, "Your girlfriend..." you know all the rest. How do you explain things like this to a young child who only lives in a Nickjr, Noggin, or PBS world? (I mean really, can you see Ernie trying to explain what S*** means?- even I'm chuckling). Obviously, the person wearing the shirt at at which ever amusement park doesn't have kids. Or if he/she did, I feel sorry for them. No wonder kids/teens have problems. Young pregnant teens, foul mouthed kids, h.s. drop outs. There's so much thrown at young people these days. Alcohol commercials, cig billboards, peer pressure, raunchy shirt screens. I don't want to go back to the days of Mayberry, but there is such thing as discretion. I know, I'm risking being flamed by posting, but at least I am showing support for those who appose these kinds of raunchy expressions in inappropriate places. Throw the ammendment rights at me what ever, but THINK OF THE KIDS before going out in a family environment.

I had a wonderful experience with a cm. When we were waiting in line to get into Bear in the Big Blue House, my daughter 4 dropped her candies all over the ground. They were in one of those round tins. A CM saw us picking them up and saw my daughters disappointed. He came rushing over and asked my daughter for her candy tin and said he'd be right back. He came back in a few minutes with not only the tin re-filled, but with another brand new candy tin. He did not have to do that!!!!! When we sometimes complain about Disney's high cost for things, again, you pay for what you get. With that kind of service I cannot complain. It brought smiles to my daughter's face and also her daddy's after he just spend $8.00 on candy
We love Disney!

Not trying to be-labor the point of the t-shirt, but again, I saw more crude women dressing with everything but the kitchen sink showing - don't think a shirt like this needed to be called out. How do you explain the lack of clothing to your children? Please get over yourselves.

I do agree with your quoted statement above regarding body parts showing. How do I explain
the lack of clothing to your children?
I tell them its a shame to be dressing so un appropriately. That they (men or women) are seeking the wrong kind of attention. Look at the clothing ad's women/teen/kid clothes lenghts are getting shorter and shorter and guys clothing has gotten longer through the years. I can't buy my DD a skirt b/c it cuts off at her mid thigh or higher. GROSS! I don't want some creepy person looking at my young kid! Any way, You can only shield your kids so much and you take risks taking kids any where. Me as a parent I just have to teach them and pray for the best. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. [Proverbs 22:6 NIV bible]"

We just got back yesterday and we encountered both bad and good cm's and bad and good guests. Fortunately, I'm remembering the great cm's like Jason at SSR who spoke to us for several minutes about our plans and where are we from. I also remember Joanna from bell services at SSR. She was so pleasant even though she was in the baking heat and she refused the tip that my DH was going to give her. There are so many guests and so many cm's that your going to get the bad with the good, you just have to choose what you are going to remember. :)

I echo Boston1029's sentiments. While we're discussing great CM's, Libby at DVC is a great asset to Disney. Anyone who encounters her at a Vacation Club kiosk, be sure to stop by & talk to her. Tell her I sent ya, and maybe she'll share some of her Mickey Rice Krispie treat with you.

And let's not forget the other CM's who never seem to get any credit anymore. Those wonderful gals & guys at the Disney Store who do their best to help everyone feel as if they were in the Kingdom. A special shout out to Nicole, Lynn, & especially Dawn at the Exton,PA store is in order. People seem to forget that DS CMs are still part of the Magic. I don't care who officially owns the Stores now, these gals are Disney through & through & deserve many more kudos than they actually get. From dealing with guests who think the Store is a playground for their kids, to guests looking for the Shrek 2 DVD & Tweety slippers, to the guests who return crunchy swimsuits, these ladies deserve a special acknowledgement. My Sorcerer's Hat is off to you. While your paychecks may say Hoop, your personalities say Magic. Thank you.

And when did they start letting people walk around in bikini tops? Tank tops, OK...but on this last trip I saw lots of bellies- after I told my kids they had to keep their clothes on after they got rained on!
Just wondering?!
