Yeah, got that announcement in my email yesterday too. My first instinct was to look for a place to comment back, "You've got to be kidding me! I'd rather watch golf!" Can't they come up with ANYTHING better?
Too ridiculous to be true. And they felt the need to announce it?! Even if they had simply continued to show longer movie trailers in there it would be better than this!
This is one of the reasons we are skipping Disney this year (except for one night at MNSSHP) Other than the Magic Kingdom my family just doesn't feel there are enough things to do at the other three parks. Adding shows and characters, or bringing back shows and characters doesn't make me want to go. It makes me think that Disney is in some kind of "attraction rut". I don't even have any interest in the upcoming "Avatar Land".

We took my kids to see it for their first time a couple trips back and as we were walking out they said that that was definitely a once and done attraction...they can mark it off of their to try list. We haven't returned since. I really didn't care for it when I was a kid watching it with my parents, my dad on the other hand liked the show and made us all sit through it .
I think that's a GREAT idea: show long Disney movie trailers in the EO auditorium at Epcot. Which of course can now include Star Wars movies. One of my two kids loves waiting in line to see characters, and the other hates it. That one could go sit in AC while waiting for us (and, he loves all movies - so he'd actually see this as an attraction).
Genius. You should really suggest that to someone who matters at Epcot. Seriously.
When we saw it in 2012, our older kids (ages 21 and 18 at the time) thought it was pretty funny and laughed through a lot of it... but not in the way that Disney probably intended! It looked so horribly dated.
Is there a reason that they are rolling this dinosaur out again rather than making a new 3D movie? They could do a new one starring Bing Bong from Inside Out that would fit in great in the Imagination Pavilion. Heck, moving the video from Magic of Disney Animation starring Mushu would make more sense. Everytime I saw that, it had significantly more people in the theater than Captain EO. Why bring this back?
My best guess- EO is a placeholder until Disney is ready to use the theater for Star Wars promos and previews in the late fall. Why invest in a new film when they plan to use the space more and more for special events? I actually aplaud Disney for finally bringing new movies into the parks in recent years (yes, they belong in DHS not Epcot. But if frozen can be in the world showcase...).
