ok, everyone, in an effort to create some more buzz for this contest, i created the following article. there's a special shout-out to the disboard, and to several candidates....i figured if i can't get the press to come to me, i'll create the press!

Very clever! As I was reading it I had another one of those "why didn't I think of that!" moments! I seem to get a lot of those around here!

Congratulations! You'll definitely have to tell us more about both of those when you have the time!

(as for me, even though it is 1:00 in the morning here, I can't seem to sleep . . . so I'm always up for a good audition success story!)

well, it didn't start out as a success. i auditioned for the show (sondheim's assassins--not the most cheerful show, i'll admit) about two weeks ago. i found out last week that a good friend of mine had been cast in the role i was also called back for (no surprise there--it happens often). however, she was forced to turn the role down because she's amazingly talented and was offered a role in another show that would give her more money. so, a few days passed and still no phone call. then, i saw an audition posted for the role that i had been called back for. i was pretty sad about it, because it meant that i wasn't being considered for the role, or i would have been called without the theatre having to go through another audition.

still, i decided not to give up. i called the director and left a message for him. i told him that i was sorry i apparently hadn't shown him what he was looking for the first time around. i said that i was still interested in pursuing the role, and that if it wasn't an issue of type (i'm much taller and a brunette--my "first cast" friend is a petite blonde sprite), i'd love the opportunity to audition again and hopefully show him something new. i got a phone call on friday telling me that i could come in and audition on saturday. i did the audition, and got the offer for the role on sunday!! it was great!! i was very nervous about asking for a second chance, but i'm glad that i showed the director that i was taking the opportunity seriously.

sorry for the long-winded explanation. sometimes i don't know how to censor myself!

love,
meggin

No apology necessary! I think you had a great attitude about it and I'm proud of you for pursuing the role!

Kudos!

Good morning!

Is it pathetic that I was the last person to post last night and the first one back on here this morning? I guess I'll trust that since there are less than 5 days left to vote we can file this under "perfectly normal given the circumstances"

Have a great day everyone! I'll see you at some point this afternoon!

Congratulations Meggin!!! If you can sing Sondheim, you can sing anything! Love how you went back to them and got your part!

The brief moment in time that I thought I had a chance of being the CMO, I remember anytime anyone brought up dates in April to me to do anything, I felt as though I had a prior "scheduling conflict." Even though all I had done was ENTER a contest. :lmao:

Ridiculously positive thinking, I know.....but I wondered how the rest of you Top 10ers have been feeling during this time......sortof like you have a trip scheduled for April already? Making plans according to those dates? :confused3

Do you feel like you have to clear your calendar, just in case? Or go about business as usual and continue making your own plans? Have you blocked off that time in April for the finals no matter what? :confused3

*red-faced Disney Denial firmly in place.........as I still have that time blocked off "just in case"........* :rotfl2:

I must have missed that one...where is the link? :)

I'm really sorry! In my haste to post a helpful message about where to find Tripp's link (you'll find that I'm ridiculously slow when it comes to technology - so the chance to be the first to reply is something I'm not accustomed to) I forgot to say one very important thing:

WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!:cheer2:

I'm glad you found our little corner of the web! I hope you find us to be as amusing as we find ourselves!
:)

I'd love to have a roommate! Why don't you see if you can come? Maybe you have cheap airfares, too!

Any one else want to come? ;)

Congrats, Meggin--I'm a big Sondheim fan. I agree that Assassins isn't that cheerful of a show, and you're clearly leading a double-life being both a cheerful Disney fan and a nutso assassin. Who are you, Sarah Jane Moore? Squeaky Fromme? I always wanted to make this show into an animated film, with each different scene done in a different animation/visual style (cut-outs, hand-drawn, 3-D, etc.) You inspired me to bring that CD in the car this morning--I can vent my frustrations about the morning commute through song!!)

Okay, family. I know you are all enablers, so I'll ask for your help!

I can fly round trip from my little town in Texas to Orlando for $119 plus taxes total! That's right - that's the price for round trip!

The only time I can fly this price is if I go April 8 - April 15, which is a full week. And of course, I'd have to go alone, but I've done that before.

At this point, the best I can get a Disney hotel is All Star Movies for $114/night.

What say the group? That's more than I've ever paid for a value resort, so I think it wipes out any airline savings. But I'm kinda pumped to go...

What would you do?
I'm sure I'm late to the "enabler" party.... but DO IT!

YEA!!! I will be there that same week!!! Go, Go, Go, Go.......no pressure!

Soooooooo,

Do you notice something different about me?

Hi Everyone!!!! Been busy voting.... morning, lunch and after dinner....

Hope it makes a difference!!! Miss you all!!!!

Thanks to the Andymator.... I am a new woman!!!!

Love that green background for St. Patrick's Day!!!! And, he was kind enough to give me the "dream" ears that I have coveted for this past year!!!
You look great! Go Andy!

That is awesome! Congrats!

Have you all seen Tripp's latest video update from his TRIPP to Disneyworld last week?

He is definitely in my TOP 3.

Wow! Thanks for the props! I had a great time on my vacation. Sorry I haven't really been around. I had a tough time getting back to work yesterday. It's always hard to do after a great vacation. I'm doing much better today and back into the swing of things. Keep voting!!!

Oh, and thanks again to Fleagle and Mrs. Fleagle. I got my CMO pins! They were waiting on me when I got back to work yesterday! Thanks again!

I guess it's official now, then. Welcome back! Aren't the pins great?

So aside from what we saw in your video, what else did you and your family do on vacation? Any fun stories or fascinating trip reports?

First off, I'd like to vote in favor of your animated Sondheim idea! That would definitley be worth watching.

Second, LOVE the idea of venting your commute frustrations through song! (and Sondheim is particularly good for that!) What other shows do you like?

And, Meggin, what else have had the chance to perform?
