Yeah, okay. If I didn't have these boards, I'd pack it in with her advice! I keep calling to see if BAT or another discount pops up with a concellation, and she tells me that if anyone with one of those discounts cancel, the room just gets slotted back into full-price, so there's no point whatsoever in me calling back again for this.

That's weird, I tell her. Every CM I've spoken to at CRO for the last three weeks has said, just keep calling.

They're wrong, she says flatly. I'm sorry I can't help you, but that's the way it is.

Uh. Okay.

NOT!:headache:

She can make it more difficult for me, but I know my DISers would never lead me astray, and I shall persist!!

And to everyone who keeps telling me you got it, keep trying?

 Love ya, mean it!

Kris

That's frustrating to have them tell you not to bother. Keep on trying. I'm sure you'll get a rate you want at a resort you'll be happy at soon :)

Karen

Keep calling. I do that with AP rates. Something has always come available. :)

Keep checking on the WDW web site. The availability of resorts changes everyday. I know because I've been checking it everyday to change one of my days. Also, if its available on the website, its usually available as an AP discount. That's just from my experience so keep on trying. The CM's give you a different story everyday.;)

STORYBOOKMOM, KEEP TRYING!!!! I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS TO GET A DISCOUNT. TODAY FINALLY SUCCESS. I HAD 3 ROOMS BOOKED AT POR AT 144.00 FOR 9 NIGHTS . I FINALLY GOT 94.00 A NIGHT FOR ALL THREE ROOMS. THE SAVINGS WAS CLOSE TO 1500.00. LAST NIGHT A REALLY NICE CM TOLD ME I WAS CALLING AT THE WRONG TIME. HE SAID TO CALL BETWEEN 9AM-NOON THAT WAS WHEN THE CANCELATIONS WERE LOADED. IT WORKED, I CALLED AT 9:06 THIS MORNING. I LEAVE ON 10/06. GOOD LUCK AND PIXIE DUST. TERRI

Unfortunately some CMs tend to spread misinformation like a wild fire.

Part of her statement is true, just because someone cancels who is holding a discounted rooom doesn't necessarily mean that room will be put back into the discounted "pool" of rooms. BUT it also does not mean that it won't be put back in the discount pool also.

Because availability changes all the time so you should definitely keep checking to see if something opens up with a discount. It happens all the time.

Storybookmum - Who ever you talked to was having a bad day. Believe me it gets old calling every day, some times more than once a day. But it does pay off. I'm going to call them as soon as I log off ;) ;)

I trust you, I swear it! I was just aghast at the CM's words, I didn't believe her.

I'll keep at it....minechuchie, I'll have a stab at it in the mornings; I've been alternating, picking up the phone when I'm lonely, lol...shift work makes for weird times to call, too. But I'll try right after work starts tomorrow.

Thanks, everybody! Nighty-night!

They also have a BAS code which looks pretty good. Why not call them and give them that code. I rec'd e-mail in my Disney Insider newsletter.

Also try BAP, it is similar to BAS and BAT.

BAP is from McDonalds.

I used BAS, then called to switch to BAP. CM told me they are basically the same code (discount).

Good luck!!

I swear that folks on the DIS boards (and Mousesavers, of course) know a whole lot more about discounts than some of the CMs. I've been told several times that AAA discounts aren't available for 2005 (which they are), and that there is no limit to the number of rooms for which a AAA discount is available (wrong). What's even funnier is that when I booked my room a couple of weeks ago for Thanksgiving week '05, and I told the CM that we'd have APs, she actually checked to see if there were any AP discounts available...for 14 months later! Of course, I knew that they wouldn't be released for months and months later, but I still let her check!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised...their job is to book travel...it's certainly not to save us all a bunch of $$$!

I had to chuckle a bit when I read this part. Whenever I need accurate information or the inside scoop, this is exactly where I head to.

I am sorry that you are having trouble getting a discount - that is one of the reasons why we always go through a travel agent. We have APs and she has managed to get us a discounted rate every trip. Hope that it all works out for you!!

Not true. I just tried yesterday to upgrade and was able, DH decided not to for personal reasons but it was available and BTW I called at 3pm CST.

You are lucky your TA has been able to get you ap rates, but she cannot find the email /mail codes for as you must receive that yourself - also, with all due respect, it would be rare for her to know every discount code available. You'll never know if there was a better rate available, but it does not matter as long as you are happy with your TA :)

...is this code good for Feb. 2005??

Hey kimmar! No the codes are only good through part of Dec. BAS is good through 12/25 with some blackout dates. You probably wont see any Feb codes til end of Dec or Jan.

Let me jump on the bandwagon and say keep trying!

I looked on the website every day to see if my dates became available on a standard room at a moderate. I had the ap rate booked at a value resort but am fortunate enough to be staying for 10 days so I wanted something a little more relaxing (I have no children). Yesterday it finally showed up on the website (and this is over one of their blackout periods) so I contacted my TA and asked them to check to see if it was available at the ap rate as well. Yay it was!!!!
Just keep trying the website, I think that is a good indication as to what might be available for ap rate as well and it is quicker than calling.
good luck!

Well, I have my rooms booked at both resorts already, and discounted rate at POR, I'm just trying to apply the discounted rate to my ALK rooms. I don't understand how checking the website can help me with that; am I being dense?
