hey all.

i searched for an answer here, but i'm not sure i've seen anything that answers my question exactly. here's the deal...

we reserved the 4+3 deal in a 2 bedroom at SSR with my family of 5 and my mil and fil. despite the fact that we all have tickets from previous visits, my immediate family was planning on using the package tickets this trip (and saving our other non-activitated tickets for another trip). My inlaws, on the other hand, would like to use their non-expiring tickets from their previous trip, as they are not sure they'll do WDW again. Our plan was to purchase their tickets for them and save them to use on another trip for ourselves (as they would not be activating the tickets).

when i went to pay for the package this AM, i was discussing this plan with the CM and was told that she was "pretty sure that the tickets on a package must be used within 14 days of the checkin date". i asked her to verify this and she put me on hold and came back and said that she did speak with someone in the ticketing department and that her info was, in fact, correct.

SOOOOO....i know those of you with APs have gotten 1 day base tix. have any of you been told that you can't save the tix for later?

IF this is the case, i was also reading about some of you that have added adults onto the ressie at check-in...that works? (my inlaws don't need ME, have tickets, and the 2bdrm. unit we are in sleeps 8, so we wouldn't exceed occupancy--obviously as they are currently booked in it with us:) )

it won't be the end of the world if they save their current passes and use the package tickets, but as i mentioned, they don't think they'll be going back again...this will be the 3rd time we've dragged them down there with us and dear fil is the kind of guy that says in all seriousness, "why would i want to ride (insert ride name) again?!? i've already been on it!":lmao:

i guess i'm wondering if i can expect to be able to call back and hear what i want to hear, eventually, from a CM (which is that we can put inlaws package tix on a separate tix from the room key and save them for a later date).
by the way, what is the final word on how to make the key and tix separate on a package? request it at check-in, or do it another way?

thanks for any help!

I feel bad that you typed this whole story out and you talked to a CM that has NO idea what theyre talking about. As long as the tickets arent used you can come back in 20 years and theyre still good.

Wow, that was a long post about wrong info like PP said. If you go to Disney's website, it says they expire 14 days from first use, not check in.

just booked...all set...and this time, the CM that i spoke with DID know what she was talking about!

thanks again,

There really should be a "blacklist" section that lists the CM's names so people here know not to talk to them

I agree mbanks21. I called a few weeks ago 3 times asked the same question and got 3 different answers. Unfortunately the most expensive one was the one that was right (which I thought was the case...lol).

Unfortunately everytime I see

"CM says" - I cringe and expect something interesting

Hope everything works out

I agree. MYW tkts expire 14 days from first use. As long as you DO NOT use them, you can come back whenever you want and use the UNUSED DAYS next time. Enjoy the free nights and the whirlpool tub at SS!

You suggest that your reservation will include tickets for your in-laws, but you want to save them for yourself. Are the replies suggesting that tickets are transferrable until they are used for the first time?

Please don’t flame me for the following question, but

If this is true, then what stops the deliberate abuse of putting fictional adults on a reservation for example "additional free points (under the free dining promotion)"? For short trips of only a few days, adding a 3rd adult to the reservation (not activating the park tickets and saving them for a later trip) is much cheaper that upgrading two adults to the deluxe dining plan.

interesting question about the "abuse"...i don't have an answer for you (i've never done dining before).

it appears that the tix are only nontransferrable once they are activated...

That is my understanding. However I cannot speak from personal experience.

Not only do you have to figure in the ticket, you also have the $25/night charge for the additional adult (beyond 2) in the room. Considering that upgrading to the deluxe plan is $32/night, it would be hard to come out ahead by adding phantom adults rather than just springing for the upgrade.

Not exactly related to tickets, but in the past on the free dining promotions Disney has asked that all room occupants be present at check in. I guess some people were booking phantom guests just to have more free dining credits, and I suppose they just kept the tickets for those phantom guests for later use.

The mind-bending ways some people use to get around the system to get something for free is mind boggling. In your case, no problem, tickets can be used later as long as they were never activated. I believe the finger scan gets associated at first use, and at that point they are non-transferrable.

You dont have to do the finger scan thing. They will let you just show ID every time you enter the park. That finger scan thing creeps me out and I refuse to do it
