Out of curiosity....
Does any know what the CM DVC discount is? If it's a heck of a deal, I may just get a job there.:lmao:

I don't rmember exactly when, but I believe I rd Disney is eliminating the CM discount.

Better check before you move out of Mayberry, LOL.

I am a non-WDW cast member and I got 15%. My guide told me that WDW CM's get 25%. I was thrilled with 15%:cool1:

We purchased AKV in Disneyland last week. I got $8 off per point plus 15%. No other perks. And man, did I try! I asked for developer points, the 2 free annual passes, and the $500 Visa gift card. She checked every time and we were told "no". Just the $8 per point incentive and 15%. It was a pretty good deal, but I am kicking myself for not buying when they were offering the 25% deal this summer.:sad2:

15% off was still in effect as of two weeks ago including for family members. It applied on purchases of 100 or 160+ and was after the standard $8 off. Our guide tried at first to tell us it wasn't a good deal because it had no developer points but later acknowledged it was a great deal.

Haven't I heard that if someone buys DVC points as a CM, that the CM (or family, if that's the case) can NOT resell the points sometime in the future for a profit?

Just something that stick way back in my long-term memory banks.

That's correct. I asked our guide about this Thursday when we saw her. If you use the CM discount, you can only sell back to Disney.

No, it's 15% for all CM's. Our DD is a WDW CM, and although it was 25% up until sometime this summer, it's now just 15%. Still, the 15% is off of the full price (not the discounted price). So AKV, at $104pp - 15% = $88.40 (and another $8 off for 100+ points makes it $80.40pp). One other advantage for CM's is that they don't have the 160 point minimum buy-in.

It has been rumored that all CM discounts for DVC will be going away soon. But for now, at least, it's still there. :)

Thanks for all the information. I was a CM years ago and wondered about the discount. I also had heard it was leaving soon. Still, super interesting. :)

WOW, I didn't know it was rumored to go away; although it makes sense. I was telling my DH I was surprised there was the CM discount on BLT but I'm glad my information is already in, just-in-case. I feel even better about getting the 15%. We got $112 - 15% then = $5 per point incentive for a total of $90.57 per point (approx.) Works for us, we got the higher interest rate but we will have it paid off no later than 2011 (hopefully sooner).

As CM's we work VERY hard and go through a lot of "stuff" our guests have no idea that we sacrifice. I work a full-time regular "day" job and part-time @ Disney. From Feb-May I worked over 70 hours a week, 7 days a week to keep my benefits. So when I got my DVC discount along with the free park passes and resort discount, believe me, I LOVE IT and definitely earned it :upsidedow :worship:

I'll have to dig out my paperwork and double check but I don't believe this information is correct. I believe purchases with a cast discount have an extra disclaimer where should you want to sell, Disney has the option of buying it back at the purchase price first. Should they pass on that, it goes to the normal ROFR.

Again, Im not 100% sure but I thought it was something similar to that.
