CM couldn't find any FD. Options?

Due to illness, we had to cancel our reservation at the last minute. I called tonight to reschedule and the CM couldn't find ANY thing under FD for any week starting Oct 25, 26, 27 or 28. Not value, mod or deluxe. I preferred Oct 27-Nov 3 and found what I needed online before AND after I got off the phone with her. Not sure what the problem was, but I plan to call back tomorrow to change it. Now our original reservation was supposed to start tomorrow, but our new reservation is 53 days out (had her book without FD so I could get something set up tonight). If I call tomorrow and have the same problem, can I cancel and still get my deposit back so that I can book online myself?

Gartner Symposium is the 21-25 and I think those nights are pretty much sold out at every resort. Not sure why you can't find Oct 27-Nov 3 though. What time of room/s are you looking for and for how many? 7 plus infant?

if I'm reading right you just moved your reservation from tomorrow to 53 days out?

Ok I just tried the dates for 4 people to see if anything would come up and there's a good bit of availability for your dates you want. Oct 27-Nov 3 pulled up ASMu standard and suite, ASMo, CBR, FW Cabins, AKL, BC, Poly and GF. Could it be the CM was looking for a villa to fit you all? Are you ok with 2 rooms and request connecting? I'd call back tomorrow and hopefully get somebody else that could help you out. Seems you should be able to get FD for the dates. If not seems like you could book it on your own and just cancel your other reservation since technically you are no longer w/in 45 days. I don't know though how they work that. I think you just didn't have a CM that was understanding what you wanted.

Sorry somebody was ill and you have to change. That's the pits so hopefully something works out

If you are 53 days out, just book what you found online tonight and call and cancel the other one tomorrow. You would get your deposit refunded to you which could take a.little while, but at least you could sleep tonight knowing you have FD. Good luck! :thumbsup2:

Thanks for the responses. Just want to clarify a few things.

1. I have no problem finding my preferred reservation (All Star Music standard room) using the FD link. But, for some reason, the CM could not find anything for any resort type for any days she tried. I know there is availability, but she could not find it. I know she was not looking for a villa because she would specifically say what she couldn't find each time (ex: "It is not showing any standard rooms at All Star Music for Oct. 27th to Nov. 3rd for free dining").

2. If you have more than one room booked together, they will cancel and rebook room #1 before they will touch room #2. So it is not because there wasn't availability for 8 people. She should have been able to book room #1, and then we would have dealt with availability for room #2.

3. We were supposed to arrive at Disney today (Sept. 6) which is NOT 45 days out. However, we switched to a date that is over 45 days out (without FD). Yesterday, I would not have been eligible to get my deposit back, but can I get it back now that our new reservation is more than 45 days out (even though the deposit was originally issued for the old reservation)?

This is the question that is holding me back from rebooking right now online and cancelling the other reservation. I don't want to lose my deposit. Hopefully I will call tomorrow and speak to a CM that can find my dates, but would like to know the answer to this question just in case.

Thanks again!

If it were me I would call and ask to be transferred to Guest Services since they should be able to help you better than a CM @ CRO. Good Luck!

I haven't had any personal experience with this, but your deposit should be fully refundable since you are still outside of 45 days (even though you changed your dates from a previous trip where you were inside the 45 days). I agree with the others to call back and if the CM can't do anything, ask to speak with guest services and they should be able to help you. With that said, sometimes the CRO CMs aren't looking in the right place or for some reason don't know how to make such a change, but if you are finding availability for FD online, guest services should be able to add FD to your current reservation without having to cancel & rebook. Good luck :wizard:.

I absolutely concur with the poster suggesting you call back and request a transfer to Guest Services. Cast Members have varying levels of experience and your first may have been very new.

My mama always said "never take NO as an answer from someone not empowered to say YES" and that has been my salvation through many situations.

Whenever the CM is not seeing what you KNOW is there, put a smile in your voice and ask them to consult with their manager, please. If THAT doesn't work, then request a transfer to Guest Services.

I'm sure you can get this handled and hope you enjoy your vacation - once you finally get to TAKE it. ;)

We had to move our vacation further out one year....a full year further out. The original booking somehow still stayed the same though and so we would NOT have been able to get our deposit back. I can't remember what the CM said, but just because we moved our dates up, didn't change the deposit rule about not getting a refund after 45 days.

It's been a couple of years ago though, so maybe you'll have better luck.

That sounds confusing LOL....hmm, how to better explain it. Example:
Booked at the resort for a check in of 1/1/12, I figure out 46 days prior that we won't be able to make it. I call on 45 days and they tell me there is a cancellation fee of the deposits (200.00 for each room) BUT I can move the reservation for a date in the future and not get charged a change fee. So I do that......now our check in date is 1/1/13 but we still can't call and get a full refund because the original dates are still hooked to that reservation or something?

Hopefully you will get it worked out to get your deposit back and fd, but, if you don't, if there is still fd left available online, I would cut my $200 loss for the savings I get with fd. Good luck with everything!:0)

I have had this problem twice before, I think you just got a new person on the phone. No big deal simply call back and have them add it to your trip.
