A friend of mine has a friend who is a manager in one of the shops in Disneyland so she says she "could probably" get us free park tickets for our upcoming trip (a few days the week after Thanksgiving) and says she will get us connected later in November to work out the logistics. The thrifty mom in me thinks "woo hoo, hook me up!" but the planner in me wonders if this will really work and if we would just be better off just pre-purchasing our tickets.

So, I was wondering if any of you know how these cast member tickets work. Does each employee get one ticket per day at the start of their shift and is it just for one park or does it have the hopper ability. Can they save the tickets up to use on different days? I know I should probably patiently wait until she can answer these questions for me later in November but this planner is eager for answers. :) Thank you!!!

CMs have two ways of ticketing, CMs get comp tickets (4 tickets a month) or the blue pass where they can take a group of 3 people in 16 times a year...

comp tickets can be used any day without the requirement of your friend while the blue pass requires.

so depending on what she plans to give you or use, it varies...

all CM tickets are park hopper... not unless she/he goes buy one park tickets...

Not entirely true, there is an exception. There are block out dates for using the blue and silver passes. On some dates DL is blocked, but not CA. If you use the pass at CA on a blocked DL date it is only a one park pass. Also, not all CMs receive 4 tickets per month. It varies. Some only receive 4 a year, etc.

My DD must have the blue pass cause she can sign three people in 16 times a year (although her ID card is yellow in color). However, there are definately block out periods. Holidays and the time frames around them, the month of July and first half of August. I have a deluxe pass so she has only signed me in a couple of Saturdays. You are issued a blue paper park pass. You use it for fastpass and hopping. If your friend has the comp passes, I am sure it would work the same way.
