Well, this one gave me quite a chuckle, I must admit - but it was one of the really embarrassed, slap my forehead kind of chuckles. Hard as it may seem to those of you who know me, I actually fell for this one and tried it one rather busy morning at The Magical Kingdom Park. Looking back on it, I can see just how silly I was, but, for whatever reason, it just didn't occur to me ahead of time. This tip has been touted as a way to save lots of time, by always turning to the left.
I confess, I tried the famous "Turn to the Left" touring tip. Red-faced afterwards, I just hoped that nobody was paying too much attention to me. Maybe it's obvious to you all, but I missed it. For those of you who don't see the problem with this tip, don't fret, I'm an experienced travel writer and I fell for it. Here's the trouble....after you turn left three times, you're right back where you started from. Really! It's true!
Don't bother with this one. It's obviously somebody's idea of a joke.
I was standing there, after having tried it and had realized that I had been duped when I noticed a family making their last left turn. It was obvious they were following that plan as they had the guidebook open and the Dad was pointing and leading the way and they took that left turn, toward me. The looks on the faces of those poor kids as they figured out they'd been had was just heartbreaking. So I figured I'd better post this here to save you, my friends, from this embarrassment.
Shame, shame shame on whoever it was that came up with this little joke.
