Does your school have any clubs?
What are they?
What clubs are you in?
What do you like about it?

I'm thinking about joining a club or two once school starts. I don't know what all of the clubs are, and I don't know what kind of club to join. Talk to me about the clubs you're in. I'm interested in hearing what you all have to say.

1. Yes.
2. FFA (Future Farmers of America)
FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.)
BPA ( I can't believe I forgot what it was)
FEA (Future Educators of America.)
Math club
Chess club
chemistry (maybe)

Those are the ones I know of.

3.FFA
FCCLA
I want to be in BPA but I can't until next year I think.
FEA (Me and my 2 friends applied. They haven't told us who made it. We just filled out an application. I hope I make it. -Crosses Fingers-)

4. They are so much fun!! I love the work, and everything about them. They are just fun.
FEA we are working with children and the community. Scrapbooking competitions and we have 2nd grade pen pals from our town.
FCCLA. SO many leadership skills and we raise money. I've met soo many friends in our state it's wonderful.

EDIT:...I can't count to 4...xD
EDIT:...again. I left stuff out.

Does your school have any clubs?
Yes
What are they?
We have a lot so I will just name a few: Key Club,Caring for kids and critters,Drama Club,Medievievil Club (sp),Gay Straight Alliance Club,Best Buddies, etc.
What clubs are you in?
I haven't joined any yet,but I think I may join Key Club and Caring For Kids and Critters
What do you like about it?
They both seem like a lot of fun and I will be getting a ton of community service hours. ^-^

We have like French Club, German Club, Helping Hands Club, Math Club, etc.
But I'm not in any of them. And the only one I'm perhaps interested in this year is Helping Hands.

Does your school have any clubs? Yup, we have clubs up the wazoo.
What are they? ::takes yearbook out from desk and rumages through::
Student Congress (which actually isn't a "club" so much as something you have to get yourself elected into)
NHS, which is also not so much a club but, quite literally, a society. And it's national so I'm sure most all of your high schools have it.
Principal's Advisory Council which is something you have to get invited to after you apply.
Interhigh (a joint club with the two other hs in our district. This also has an application process)
DECA which is a business club
Student Recognition Council which does things like birthday shoutouts and give awards and such.
Quest which is a Bible study club.
SADD (Students Against Distructive Decisions). I think you all pretty much get that.
Environmental Club which handles recycling and agriculture around the school. They've been VERY busy this year...all you Buffalonians know why!
French Club
Spanish Club
Latin Club
Masterminds or "The proud geeks" as they're affectionatly known as. Yes, they created the name, I'm not just being mean. They actually compete against other schools with the most random bits of trivia ever.
Chess Club. They sit around and play chess which can basically be expected by the chess club.
AFS. It's a club that works with foreign exchange students. Every month we go and do something with them (skating, bowling, dinner and a movie, sleepover at the zoo, etc.) and at the end of the year we all go to WDW before they fes-es go back home!
Harry Potter Club. It was formed just this past year but the advisor is leaving the school so it's out.
Science Olympiad. They compete with other schools in well, science.
Computer Club...pretty self-explanitory.
Mock Trial. I think most schools have this so I'm not going to go into too much detail.
Art Club...again, a no-brainer as far as knowing what they do goes.
WISP. This club is so close to my heart. It's a literary and art magazine that we form based on student submissions. AND, to make it all the much better, I actually have a very good picture of me with the other members...eventhough you can see my bra strap, but that's okay, it's a good picture nonetheless...moving on.
Shakespeare Guild. They basically do Shakespeare during the year but then one day towards the end of the year, they do "drive bys" and do about a 5-10 minutes revival of classic Shakespeare with a modern twist.
Southern Exposure. They write articles that are supposed to be published in the community paper but the people at the paper very rarely actually put it in.
Spectrum. It's our "Gay/Straight Alliance" which is supposed to make people less ignorant, I guess. It's basically the common concensus that it does more harm than good.
Pep Club. Fancy name for the cheerleaders, really.
Interact. It's a community service club. They go to soup kitchens and hospitals and such.
Stage Crew. If you don't know what that is, I'm sorry I didn't send you flowers following your lobotomy.
Ditto with the theater folks. It's not really a "club" per se because you audition for your part. But basically you get the same groups of people for each musical so it may as well be.
Pit Orchestra does the music for the musicals.
Jazz Ensemble, which is also by audition.
Wind Ensemble, see above.
Wind Symphony. In all honesty, I'm not really sure what the deal with that is.
Choirs of all kinds: all men and all women by audition as well as a mixed choir which is by audition and another which anyone can do.
Searchlight which is the yearbook. I may or may not get into this this upcoming year. We'll see how schedules work out.
We're (meaning about 6 of us) are starting a school newspaper for the first time in the school's history this year.
And then all the sports which I'm not getting into. I don't know whether or not you consider those "clubs".
What clubs are you in? See the ones that are italicized (sp?) and underlined above.
What do you like about it? For WISP and the newspaper, writing is a passion of mine and it's something that I truely love doing. There is a whole lot of work to do for them but it's so worth it and both of them have very few people so it really is like a work party every meeting. AFS is also LOADS of fun. There is not one "unfun", to make up a word, thing about it. Not to mention, we go to WDW at the end of the year. The best part about that is seeing the looks on the faces of the foreign exchange students. I like to compare it to when a parent first sees their child's face when the first lay eyes on the castle. You know these people from where ever they may be from have never been and will VERY likely never ever be there again. I do Interact, in all honesty, because I need community service. This year, I will be inducted into NHS, but I didn't mark it yet because I haven't experienced it yet.
Not to mention, it pretty much common sense that activities are not frowned upon when college applications come around.

My advice for you is to find something that you absolutly love and shove your way in there. And it's also really important to stick with things for a long period of time, especially if you can work your way up to holding an office or position. Or, if you absolutly cannot find ANYTHING, look into starting one of your own, seriously - pick a topic, find an advisor, and seriously look into it.

What is Helping Hands about? (Besides helping hands, obviously.)

Helping Hands is our school thing (I don't know if it's National or whatever it might just be us) that does a lot of different things throughout the year. They take canned foods for Thanksgiving and donate them, they organize Penny Wars, they help Student Council, they collect jackets;hats;scarves;gloves;etc for Christmas/Winter time, they make Easter baskets, they do so much. They are so nice and the teachers that run it are awesome so I hope to get involved when school starts!

Thanks :]
I hope they tell us soon, I'm getting anxious and I want to know if I made it.

Isn't helping hands like the ronald Mcdonald house thing Alyssa?
Some kids last year did a event over it at our school for our FCCLA. It was really cool. :goodvibes

Wow do you go to a provate school the reason I ask is because of Bible study club in our school district would be against the law. We get in trouble for metioning the bible during school but having a club that would not be good at all.

Nope, I go to a public high school. How the clubs work with us is that if you want to see a club happen, you have to find an advisor and x amount of people who would join. Of course, you have to get it approved by the school, but it's really that anything could go as long as you fulfill the requirements. The Bible study club is pretty laid-back in terms of advertisements, for lack of a better word. They don't go out trying to convert people of put other religions down, they just pray and study the Bible together. If a Jewish person or any other religion wanted a similar club, they would be welcome to it.
