I know over the years the number of 'club threads' (that's what I refer to them as, the ones that number in the hundreds or thousands..I think some are even 10's of thousands..of replies, where a small group generally, stay within one thread) and the IM type threads (usually a thread that asks a question, or says something to one person, and then takes on a life of its own with maybe a half dozen, maybe a dozen folks, will carry on what basically is an ongoing IM session, hundreds of replies in a day). Yikes, is that a run-on sentence, LOL. :faint: There seems to be more and more of them, along with the game threads, somewhat along the same line of thinking.

I visit two club-like threads, the 'Chicago thread' (I live in Chicago) and the 'Breast cancer survivors thread' (my wife is a breast cancer survivor). I try to drop by maybe weekly or so on each of those, catch up a bit, say hello, no real chit-chat from me though, just sort of a passing through type thing.

I was just wondering, any of you guys participate on any of the varied 'club', 'IM-like', or maybe the game ones too. There are so many to choose from. :cool1: If you care to, which ones? :woohoo:

I mostly just keep to the exchanges.

We don't chat, but I frequent the Movie Game thread. For awhile it seemed that it was Dis Ms and I were keeping it alive. A few others have finally joined us.

I always feel lost in those threads....you know me, "always quiet"......

I haven't really participate in the "biggies". They seem like they are sort of an established group & I would be a latecomer - not really sure if I would be welcome. Even though I'm around here quite a bit, I don't feel like people really know me. It might be fun to be part of one of those groups - kind of like "Cheers", but on the internet.

I did start a game thread that lived a much longer life than I expected - the HP alphabet game. My dd's were playing it on a family car trip & I started it up here just before the last book came out. Kind of fun to see it pop back up now & then.

I'm a Yaya :teeth:
Also an exchanger and a game player too.
Add all those and that is why my post count is so high

I am on the Chicago thread, I play some games and do some of the exchanges. :)

I never used to join that type of thread, but I've started and have had a blast. It's a fun way to get to know people, so don't hesitate to jump right in!

The "Tigger&Belle PM " thread that luvmydogs started turned into a mini club thread, which of course I love since I get to see my name in it :rotfl2: and I love it when new people jump into a thread like that. The more the merrier. I was never a serious cliquey person and always welcome new people and viewpoints on threads, whether they are serious threads or goofy ones.

I'm really scared of established threads. I always feel like I'm going to get pushed out or something. lol.

I follow certain friends into the Ya Ya thread occasionally to see what they are posting about in their lives, but other than that I don't have time to keep up with ongoing threads. I've tried; it's just too hard for me. I do better keeping up with people one-on-one with instant messaging, e-mail, PM, phone calls, or in person.

And I rarely if ever go on any of the games threads.

ETA: I just remembered that I do keep an eye on and sometimes post on the American Idol, Survivor, and 24 threads.

I've been in the Angel thread since the beginning. It sort of started as an offshoot of the riddle thread that was the reason behind Riddlecon. I think we are a friendly bunch and welcome anyone. It is hard to catch up with the "inside" or long running jokes but we are welcoming.

I really don't join too many of the other threads. I "know" the people there and don't have to worry about getting flamed for my opinions there.

I'm a Ya Ya - and I wasn't an original one! I barged in one night about 4 years ago and I've been there ever since! :rotfl:

I also periodically drop in on the Dancing With Stars and Survior threads.

I've been known to get rowdy with SillyMe, BriarMom, kejoda, and lovemygoofy on some of the threads.

during the WPASADI contests I felt like I had a DIS home within a home but I've never posted on the "big 'ol threads". I tried once and sorta felt ignored - plus I worry that it would be hard to keep up with all of the posts.

I am envious though - they look like fun.

I usually post on the NASCAR picks, Mr. Back's, and Extreme Makeover: TAG. Edition on a regular basis. I will sometimes do the games and other threads. I was on the first WPASADI.

I admit that I'm a bit curious about the Ya-Ya threads.

Bah! I don't belong to any "clubs." Does that make me a community board outcast? LOL :)

I'm in the Angel thread and like Carol said we're a welcoming group :)
I was not one of the original Angels like Carol, but I've met lots of wonderful people there. :goodvibes

Interesting thoughts; some think of them as inclusionary, others, sort of exclusionary. It is amazing how many of the folks who used to be on the CB, are still here on the CB, but hunkered down (as Kitty would say :lmao: ) within the various clubs. :surfweb: :3dglasses

Hunkered down... :p I think I'm one of the hunkered ones. I'm not even sure when it happened. One day I woke up and realized it'd been ages since I'd ventured out of YaYa land. :confused3

You know, I don't think anyone on any of the group threads ever intends to be inclusionary, but I can see where it may feel that way for others that don't post on them on a regular basis. It can be tough to "break in" to any of those long well established threads, but to be truthful I really do feel that most if not all are very warm and welcoming and in all honesty, are thrilled when "new" folks stop in to say hi. It can feel very strange in the beginning. Let's face it, trying to break into a chat mid way, especially when you feel they all "know each other" and you don't, can be a little daunting, but for the most part that's how almost all of us on those threads started out. Unless you're Pam... in that case, you swung in on a vine doing your best Tarzan yell. You should've seen those old YaYas scatter!! :p

NC Belle, stop in anytime!!

Blueeyes, don't feel weird. Just jump in if there's one you're interested in. It sometimes takes awhile to get the names down in these bigger groups, but I'm sure most are a fun and friendly bunch. I can only speak for the YaYas, but I know new sisters/brothers are always welcome there.
