Club Level versus Concierge

Last evening DH and I were making online reservations for the week of November 12. We chose WL with the Concierge box checked. The web site responded that nothing was available and that several other resorts had been checked and nothing was available there either. What?? So, we searched again for Poly concierge and for Contemp concierge and got the same results. Impossible? DH wanted to telephone, but it was late at night.

Then we searched for all rooms at WL, and the choices included Standard Club Level. The description mentioned Concierge services and basically described the concierge level lodging. So we looked at all rooms for the Poly and searched down the list to find Lagoon View Club Level. Hey, we've stayed there often, and the description was that of the Concierge Lagoon View.

So we booked the WL Standard Club Level. If Concierge is now called Club Level, that OK with me. But why hasn’t the web site search been changed to avoid the dead end that we encountered last night? :confused3

When I was upgraded earlier this year to concierge, the reservation said "Club level". I called CRO and they said Club level was the concierge level.

I think they are using the term Concierge for the desk that is available to assist you with dining, tickets, etc in the lobby.

Yes, they do call Guest Services the "Concierge" now, which I disapprove of for two main reasons. 1. It's confusing, since they used to call the club level rooms "concierge" rooms. 2. It gives people a false impression of what these so-called "concierges" can do for you. My SIL checked into All Stars, saw a concierge and thought, "Great! They can get someone to help me with my luggage." Um, no - they wouldn't help her at all.

It just causes confusion all the way around. But yes, they are not calling concierge level services the club level.

Cheers!

Any time I've ever tried to search for availability and checked the concierge box, it always says no availability. And like you found, when just checking availability at individual resorts, sometimes concierge/club level actually was available.

I think that feature of the website is just broken.

Availablity may also depend on how far ahead you are booking and the popularity of the resort.

I agree the change is confusing. Concierge level is now club level, and then there's concierge desk (in the lobby), which is not to be confused with Bell services. Although I'm sure the people at the concierge desk will call Bell services when you need it.I'm assuming they haven't changed it on the website because some people still don't know that they have changed the name from concierge level to club level. The name change is still fairly recent. So when you click "concierge level" when choosing a deluxe hotel, it'll then say "club level" - provided that a club level room is available, of course.

In fact, most major hotels call concierge level "club level" or "executive floor." And nearly all of them have a concierge desk in the lobby. I'm guessing Disney is just doing what the major hotels are doing.

I'm not surprised that the values don't offer help with luggage. But then again, it is a value resort, and you get what you pay for.
