We have a teenage son, and he was asking “Can I eat breakfast or appetizers in the Club Level Lounge and take enough to fill me up? Or is it the kind of place where I need to take one slice of cheese, one cracker and be on my way?”
This will be our first Club Level experience so I’m not really sure what the etiquette is on eating in the loung.

I would say if you are already staying club level, breakfast could definitely be covered in the lounge. I wouldn't pay for club level just for the food but if you already booked club level then eat up!!

Yes we are already booked for club level. We liked the little perks and such but all my son cares about is the food hahaha but he doesn’t want to look greedy or rude filling up a plate if it’s supposed to me enjoyed in smaller moderation.

I've never stayed Disney club level, but I've stayed executive level in a different hotel. I think we could take as much as we wanted. I mean I wouldn't dump a whole platter on to my plate...

Haha no definite wouldn’t dump an entire platter lol

It's been a while, but we used to regularly stay at the wilderness lodge club level and breakfast was more food than we could eat. Most people seemed to be using it for their meal...they have cereal, pastries, fruit, and yogurt, which was all we needed and we didn't look out of place using that as our breakfast. Definitely nothing substantial for lunch but the evening snack hours often had enough if you had been eating/snacking all day in the parks (hot and cold appetizers and PBJ sandwiches for kids). We tend to eat light in our normal life so we don't usually do more than one normal meal a day at Disney...we find most portions to be big for us!

This is great info! Thank you so much. I appreciate it!

As a PP said, don’t take the whole platter, lol. But the CMs will not be policing what he takes. That said, I don’t know if I would count on the appetizers being enough to satisfy a teen. Maybe if you have your big meal for lunch, he might be ok. Depending on which resort you are at, some of the foods are preplates in small portions. Ex: a small crostini with a single small sized shrimp & topping. Sure, you can take more than 1, but just a few bites of this or that might not be satisfying for him.

Breakfast is definitely a meal. Other times it will take some doing to get enough for a teenage boy! Seems like a lot of the stuff is served on little plates in small portions. But I have always allowed my family to take as much as they wanted, while trying to be respectful of how many other people might be waiting (e.g., don't take all the cookies as soon as they set them out if others are also waiting on cookies).

I will say that we have stayed a the Poly CL several times (really one of my favorites), and I have found the castmembers there can be kind of touchy and don't seem to think that the lounge is there for the enjoyment of the hotel guests, except for a few guests they seem to know from repeat visits. I've been chastised by them for not doing it right when they thought I was taking too much (I was getting food for my entire family who was sitting and chatting already). I just roll my eyes and continue to enjoy my day (and my food) when that happens.

Seriously? Don't they understand that YOU are the guest that paid really good money to be there? Ugh.

We will be at Wilderness Lodge. Yes I saw some videos and it seems breakfast may be good for him but the evening selection may be a good first course before dinner. He’s thinking of going there and eating apps while I get ready in the room for dinner plans.

Wow. That’s very disappointing that they would treat a guest that way. You are paying just like everyone else. Hopefully they won’t have something to say to my son if he takes a few items from tray.

We stayed at the YC and I would often go down and get breakfast for my grandson and me and bring it back to our room- never occurred to me that anyone would pay attention to how much food I was getting and they didn't. Just use common sense and don't take every pastry on the tray. lol

Unlike others, we got tired after a couple of days with the "continental" breakfast offerings, yes you can fill up on danishes, bagels etc. but our family really wanted eggs, bacon and for our DDs, the mighty Mickey waffles:) Over the years they have cut the size of the glasses and plates pretty much in half to try and reduce people from taking a lot, which I find ridiculous based on what they charge.

Just another comment ... the amount of food out depends on the time of day. It doesn't go from their full breakfast offering straight to their full noonish time offering to supper to late night snack ... there are breaks in between each of the "main" offerings where there isn't usually much out (I have found this does vary from resort to resort on how much). So depending on your touring schedule you may hit the lounge at in between times when there is not enough out to make a meal.
