8 nights club level or 9 nights savannah view, is it worth having 1 less nights in order to have club level?

Club level is a DVC reservation that is tough to get even at 11 months out. If you want concierge services (e.g., lounge, daily room and turn down service, personal services from CMs) get club level if you can. However, if you want a good savanna view you should avoid club level and get savanna view room. There are five 2BR lock-offs that are club level (thus possible 10 rooms total, 5 1BRs and 5 studios). Two of those 2BRs face the pool. The other three, including an HA unit, face the end of the Sunset Savanna but have roof overhangs partly blocking view and view is not that great. Moreover, you cannot request view and what you get is luck of the draw.

If you don't have Home Resort Priority for AKL, be prepared for disappointment if you try for Club level, trying to get that many nights together at 7 months would be next to impossible. It would be very difficult even at 11 months, as there are only five two bedroom equivalents.

Basically for us, the only time I would book Club level is for a short stay when we are spending a lot more time in the resort and less time in the parks. Club level does get you access to the Sunrise Safari which is a fantastic experience. However, you do run the risk of not even getting a Savannah view room. We got lucky when we checked in, but it is all just luck on whether you even get one of the three rooms that looks out on the savannah or not.

The Club food offerings are ok but if you are going to the parks every day, you will miss most of them except breakfast, which is just American Continental style, (no hot items). Staying in a villa with a kitchen kind of eliminates the need for the food offerings anyway.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a fantastic property, recently voted by travel agents as the #1 resort for families in America. Staying in any DVC villa there is an incredible vacation.

I think it's worth it, it's just one extra day. I love the convenience of club level, especially in the morning where I find it hectic. Also since its club level, you get housekeeping twice a day, I always love fresh towels. If you have a couple drinkers in your party than the alcohol us an added bonus.

The other option would be to do a split stay. Part of the time in club level and the other in a savannah view. Not knowing what your points situation is, you still might be able to do all 9 nights. Be sure to check the other threads on the Concierge level, especially if you want to do the sunrise safari (which was FANTASTIC) since it only runs 2 days a week I believe.

If you wind up with all your concierge level nights with a pool view, will you be happy? Two of the five conciege two bedroom lockoffs are pool view. You cannot request pool or savanna view. You get what you get.

I agree with drusba. Book the concierge villas if you want concierge services, not if you want a view.

I'd take the 9 nights savanna view hands-down. But having animals outside my window is kind of the point of AKV to me -- not everyone else feels that way. Doing club level once was nice, to take advantage of the Sunset Safari. But I mostly felt like club level was really just expensive snacks. I didn't get much else out of the concierge experience, since I do all of the dining reservations, etc., myself, long before the trip.

This might be our biggest DVC disappointment. We love staying CL at AKL. We only book a savannah view when staying at AKL. When we bought at AKV, we were really disappointed that we could not book a CL SV studio. (Yes, we educated ourselves and knew before we bought.). To us, a SV is a non-negotiable when staying at AKV -- so, no CL for us. If we arrived and had a non-savannah view it would not be worth it.

It is, what it is, but it's our biggest disappointment with DVC (if only life were so difficult... :) ).

CL at AKL is wonderful, FWIW. But to me, so is waking up to a giraffe outside my balcony. :)
