Club Level AKL - Can You Sneak In?

OP, you do not have to sneak anyone into the lounge. They just walk in with you. No problem. Especially in the evenings when the food offerings have been taken away and all there is are desserts and drinks. The CMs at the AKL club level have a reputation for being very laid back and accommodating. I have done what you want to do...took my friends in for some chatting over glasses of wine. The CM (Dave, I think) even made origami birds for them with scrap paper and talked with them about their stay. Don't sweat it. There are no guards on duty.

That's just crap! Pay for it like the rest of us!

Wow,that was rude. :rolleyes1 The OP is paying and since she is staying DVC on points she can clearly add the adults on her reservation, or not. It's her choice.

I think this thread has been beaten down. The OP has gotten more info and opinions than she ever bargained for, along with snide comments and outright rudeness. Mods, do you think it's time to close this thread?

I guess since I am the OP, I can change the subject a bit?

It seems now another issue is NOT that I am putting people on my room, but whether or not I am paying the $50 fee. Does that matter in the long run? If I pay the fee would this thread had even continued past the first post? I am not trying to be defensive or come off harsh, I am just curious to what everyone means-
This is my FIRST time staying on the CL, so that's why I'm not up to date with the lingo, frustrations, and anything else that goes along with it.

Thanks all....:hippie:

Some people who stay CL get very wound up over whether or not others who are in the lounge have the "right" to be there.

It's sort of like pool hopping. If someone stays at a value and then hops to a deluxe pool, the people who paid to stay there get very upset. You are paying extra $$ for the right to use those facilities, KWIM? So if someone else, who hasn't paid for it, wants to use the same facilities, not only is there sometimes not enough room for you - who paid for it -to enjoy the facilities, but they are getting the perks of a higher priced resort for free.

So when someone wants to have a bunch of extra people in a CL lounge, and those extra people didn't pay for the "right" to be there, then people get upset.

So yes, if you had said in your first post that you would pay the $50 for your parents to go to the lounge for a few breakfast items, then this discussion wouldn't have gotten past the first page. :)

She is paying, that is one of the perks of being a DVC member.

OP, Enjoy your first CL experience. Take your parents to the lounge, either with you or by adding them to your room so they have their own keys. The CL concierge can add them to your room when you check in. There are no lounge police, you just need a key to access the CL floor.

JUST got off the phone with AKL IPO and as they were taking my ADR info i told them it would be 7 because my parents would be at all star sports with one of the kids and he said "they are very welcome to come enjoy the lounge with your family" it was nice of them...their lounge their rules...

If the OP has a one bedroom villa on the sixth floor of Jambo House using DVC points, she can have up to five individuals aged three or over plus one under the age of three in her villa. She has two, so she can add the other two adults at no extra charge to her reservation so they can get CL access. DVC does not charge extra for more than two adults.

Since the the former CL rooms on the sixth floor were converted to five two bedroom lockoffs on the CL floor, these villas have CL access. The members using their points for these villas use a greater number of points for these villas than the DVC villas on the fifth floor or in Kidani Village. So they are paying for the use of the lounge and the amenities of the lounge.

Pool hopping costs Disney nothing, going to CL and taking food/wine that you have not payed for will cost Disney a fortune in the long room. AKL club room is tiny, they have added an extra table recently so it can hold maybe eight families max at one time without having to stand or using one of the smaller tables for two people. At breakfast time it can be a case of waiting for somewhere to sit. So no I dont think anyone should sneak anyone else in.

And the actual AKL CL cm's can ask your "guests" to leave. One poster said that after a guest brought some "extra" guests to CL a sign was posted that the CL lounge was for CL guests only.

Do you really think it's fair to the paying guests to bring some tag alongs?
This is why people get upset - not at people getting free (magical) upgrades but the people who think it's okay to bring extra guests to pools, to cl lounges etc.

You know, I've been thinking about overnight.

I can see why they built some DVC unto AKL, but why on the 5/6th floors? Right in the middle of the CL?

To me, and this is just MY HUMBLE OPINION, it boils down to this,,,
DVC villas smack dab in the middle of CL do NOT mix. :sad2:

For all the posters who think it's okay to just bring along extra guests I have a question.

We are staying BC CL for two weeks. My in-laws are joining us for one week. I booked them a CL room too. Should I have just gotten them a standard room and "snuck" them along too? Can you honestly believe that would be okay?

If your room sleeps 4, and they are registered guests in your room, then you would not be sneaking them in as they would be entitled to the CL lounge.

So, I do not think you would be doing anything wrong in this case. However, with standard rooms (not DVC villas), you would be paying $50.00 extra for the other adults so it may or may not have saved you much.

Now, if you don't register them and then take them with you, that is a different story.

Two thing pop up in my mind. Go with the flow and if you can't beat em,join em. :lmao:
You know my idea about this. Its plain stealing.

I think the problem is that there is no humbleness there at all. Sorry that us low-class DVC members interfering with your experience so that you can't stay at AKL-CL any longer. I didn't realize that DVC members weren't of the appropriate class to stay CL.

I was actually talking about the poster who said the rest of her family was staying at the All Stars and said that AKL IPO told her to just bring them with her to the AK CL.

Of course my in-laws would never want to go to the lounge if they hadn't paid for it. Neither DH or I would have ever felt it was right to "sneak" them in.

No, it is what it is, vicki.

Actually, thanks to you all for educating me on DVC. :)

BTW, I never referred to DVC as low-class!:scared1: The problem started, and you can go back and read, is when Uncle so and so gave his KTTW card to his non-CL DVC family to go up to the CL to get breakfast.

Like I said before, I have DVC friends that stay CL. No problemo. :confused3

Yes, I was talking about OP. In the situation you mention above, I don't think they should be allowed, but then again, its up to Disney to decide the rules and if they allow CL guests to bring others with them, then those staying in the CL room are not doing anything wrong.

I believe that whatever happens should be based on what the people at Disney say can happen. If I was a CL guest and saw a lot of this, and it bothered me as a CL guest, then I would complain about the policy to management.

You are right, you did not say that. But that was my interpretation of the things you did suggest in your various posts here. And there are at least a few other posts asking the same "what is wrong with DVC" question, so I'm not the only one. If that's not what you meant, I apologize, but I didn't see any other way of interpreting your comments which suggested that you won't stay CL at AK any longer since DVC members are allowed to use the lounge and how that's why you stay at other resorts since you don't have that same issue. And I'm done now - no need to belabor our apparent misunderstanding.

You may not have called DVC people "low-class" but your general demeanor and comments about DVC members on the thread says it "loud and clear".

That was my story and at no time did I say he was a DVC member. I didn't even notice the uncle, just the boys pushing through the line and filling up their plates. When I saw them I was glad I was leaving so I didn't have to deal with them the rest of my trip.
