Club Intrawest???

For those of you who have rented/exchanged for the Sandestin Resort, we are thinking of going there this year. I would like you opinion on how was the interior of the rooms, i.e. size, decor, quality, and the overall condition? and would you stay there or somewhere else if you went to that area of Florida?

Thanks Mark

The Panhandle is pretty light on quality timeshares, esp with DVC. Of the 3 on the DVC RCI list, I'd only take 2. You might look at a private exchange to the Marriott or one of the other nicer resorts, depending on your preferences. Realize many of the nicer ones aren't ocean front.

CI at Sandestin, FL has just stopped their shuttle service from the resort to the beach about 1 -1 1/4 miles away. Stayed there March 13-17, 2011

Ouch!

That is not good news!!

Did they give you any information why?

I talked with the manager and she stated that the shuttle is provided by the Sandestin owners association and the cut was due to financial reasons. Driving around Sandestin I saw quite a few properties that looked unkempt My brother stayed at the Grand Sandestin recently and saw a few notices on doors stating that the occupants could not use the facilities due to lack of payment of maintenance fees. Sandestin ownership comes with what I consider some very high maintenance fees. It is my assumption that maybe the management company is having cash flow problems and is looking at ways to cut back on expenses.

I hate to hear that.

The shuttle service was one of the amenities that really made that resort for us.

We had thought about buying CI at one point and I am glad we didn't.

My son is being kind enough to use my CI points at Sandestin for his spring break - 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom for him and his buddies.

I'll get him to talk with the manager in person and try to get the low-down on the shuttle and any plans for the future.

I'll post an update in about two weeks. I'm taking my daughter and her friends to Los Cabos, MX for their spring break the week after. Call me old fashioned, but I think the girls could use some adult supervision in MX.

It's nice of me to suffer and go along--don't you think so...

My son is there now and had a detail discussion with the manager. Due to complaints the new transportation system came on-line early. Now they are running a open trailer for 18 passengers towed by a jeep.

It ONLY runs every 45 minutes and is almost full on every trip, quite often leaving people stranded.

The resort is recommending that you drive you own car to the beach.

I own at both CI and DVC, I use to own at Vero but sold it.

Compared to Vero Beach

Rooms DVC 9 CI at Sandestin 8
Resort 8 10
Beach 5 10
Activities 5 15!!!

Destin is tied for the beat beach I've been to including Hawaii:yay:

Since this is a higher-end resort, I am sure that people are NOT happy at all with this half-A attempt to replace the tram.

I know I would be very upset about it too.

I also concur about the beach there. The FL Panhandle has some beautiful beaches.
