:woohoo: I can't believe my good luck... I bid on and won passes to Club 33 at Disneyland for a party of 6! It was at a silent auction at my daughter's school. Has anyone here ever been? What can I expect? Would it be best for me to take friends, or my kids (DD is 10 and DS is 7... both avid Disneyfans!)?

The woman who did the donating told me that Sundays are more expensive to eat, but that the characters spend more time with you then. I'd love to hear anyone's experience!! I'm so excited I can't stand it.

Can you take me? pretty please!!!! :P

just have lots and lots of fun!!! :)

Congratulations!!!! :cool1: You will have a great time! I don't think the characters make regular appearances except for at the brunch, so if you really want to see characters, then keep that in mind. I don't know what the cost is for brunch, but the minimum order charge per person at dinner is something like $63 (basically the same price as a one-day admission.)

Oh, and I would suggest that you don't tell anyone at the club how you got your invite. Members are not supposed to donate entry to auctions. I actually got outbid at an auction, but my mom knew the donor and when she told him what a Disney freak I was he invited us to go. He recently told my mom that they received letters that said donations of this type are a no-no and will jeopardize your membership. I just would hate for your generous donor to get in trouble, so be careful!

Oh, and I forgot to answer your question about friends or kids. I took my daughter and her best friend, both 13 at the time. They thought it was sooo cool. Took pictures in the bathroom. You'll see why when you get there:thumbsup2

Since your kids are a bit younger, maybe brunch would be a better choice, though. Dinner is very formal. I did see one couple that had kids with them that looked to be around 10 or 11.

Yeah, I know. No identifying information here! The member will also go and dine that day. I actually got outbid too... oh by $100... but the member also knew how much I wanted to go, so she offered to let me have it for what my max bid was as well. We know each other personally, so it's not like she's giving it to a stranger :rolleyes1 But I can see why DLR doesn't want just anyone to auction off admission. It would detract from the exclusivity.
Heck, I've known her for 3 years and didn't even know she was a member! Or I would have been bugging long ago.

I'm thinking of a Sunday brunch... love me a Sunday afternoon at DL!

In fact, I was there yesterday!:cool1:

Oh, good, glad both you and the donor know that!

My mom was so sad when her friend told her that, since it brought in big $$$ at her auction.

Club 33 is a nice restaurant, fairly formal. If your kids are likely to sit still, behave and enjoy the experience, take them. If they're going to be squirmy and bored, take someone else and save yourself (and other visitors) the headache. It really depends on the children in question and you know them best.

Congrats! It really is a neat once in a life time experience! My husband and I had lunch there in June (he knows a member through work). We saw kids there that day (mine stayed with my Mom at the hotel, I wanted this to be something DH and I could enjoy alone). It's not a problem to bring kids at all, of course they need to be on their best behavior in a place like that.

The food and service was wonderful. I took pictures of EVERYTHING. LOL There were no characters, and from what I understand that's pretty typical, so I wouldn't expect to see them. But it was way better then any character breakfast I've ever been too. We had a window table looking out over Rivers of America, watching everyone walk below us. It was really special! Have a great time!

I was just there on Friday for dinner. Sadly, the "special" bathroom is no longer special!! It's just a regular ol' bathroom. It wasn't like that in May, not sure why the change.

I've only been there for dinner, not the brunch. If you do want to take your kids, take them to the brunch. We had a couple of very loud, drunk parties next to us. Less likely that will happen at the brunch. I've never seen characters at the dinner so I would guess they only come during the brunch.

It is a very special experience. Congratulations!!

The Special part of the bathroom is being refurbished and will be back in a couple of weeks.

We will be having sunday brunch there in a few weeks for our first visit! Not only is it our first visit to 33, but its our first visit to DL as a whole, so we are extremely excited. What is this "special" bathroom? Just curious if there is something I need to be looking for when we go...

Not sure about what's in the men's room as I've just gone with other women, but the "amenities" in the women's room are quite amusing. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but you'll know it when you see it! If it's just being refurbed hopefully it will be back in by the time you visit.

My kids are used to nice restaurants so it wouldn't be an issue. DD would LOVE it anytime, DS would like it if there were characters, of course.

I wish the people next to us on Friday were used to nice restaurants!! They were so loud and rude. One had her hand on her husband's *ahem* throughout the meal. And it was not at all hidden.

Okay, never in this life will I visit club 33........so for all those curious about the "surprise" in the bathroom....... I won't ruin it, BUT you too can google it and learn!! Kinda cool!
The only "surprises" in my bathroom are when my little son forgets to flush....but that's another story..........:rotfl2:

I saw the "special" bathroom on the travel channel once when they were talking about club 33...so it's really no secret.

I've been lucky enough to be able to go for both brunch and for dinner - personally, I enjoyed the brunch so much more. The atmosphere is a little more casual and the food choices are better, IMO. If you think your kids will be able to appreciate the experience and they'll be well behaved, then I would say take them - it's something they'll remember forever. :goodvibes

How exciting - have a GREAT time! :wizard:

Glad to hear I just did not overlook the restroom item. When I went for lunch last month, I knew to look in the restroom and needless to say, the toilets were just regular toilets. I went to the restroom twice and looked in both stalls and kept looking around thinking I was missing it. I must have looked silly. :rotfl2:

Don't forget to purchase something from the case before you leave. There are lots of Club 33 merchandise that you can only buy if you are dining there.

I purchased a travel mug, shot glass and a charm bracelet. I wish now that I would have bought a shirt. :headache:

Eeewwww!!! What are people thinking?!:confused3
