Clown Watch 2016

My ds came home from school and said I should be careful of any clowns in the area. Apparently in a neighboring town there was a sighting.

South Texas here, about 10 schools in a nearby city were on watch a couple days ago because of a facebook post and then a kid saying something along the lines of let's dress up and vandalize stuff. My students today claimed there was one in a town another direction but it wasn't on the news. Our admin hasn't said anything about it.

Has there been actual incidents where a clown attempted to lure a child, or is it just a rumor that that is what these clowns are doing.
I'm having a real hard time taking all this seriously.

My daughter just said that they made a threat at her school too( South Texas). Nothing from the school, of course.

We had creepy clown sightings in our area a couple years ago making the news. No threats were made, though. Turns out it was part of a photo project. I haven't heard of anything recently in our area, just what's going on in other states.

I realize it's all likely a hoax, or copycat clowns just looking to rile people up...but if I were out and about with my kids at a park and saw a clown lurking in the brush....that's a big

NOPE.

I am OUT of there. Like grab my kids and run whilst screaming like a little girl.

There have been some creepy clown reports in FL recently. I haven't heard of any of them threatening schools, but I may have missed it.

When my DD was a freshman a few years ago, there were two people in clown masks who were banging on dorm windows and freaking the kids out. The college did send out an alert to students. The rumor was that a group of guys were out tossing a football and spotted the clowns. They gave chase, caught one and roughed him up. There wasn't any actual proof that this happened, but there also weren't anymore clown reportings after that night.

We had students from a middle school and high school arrested for making threats against their schools. As for the alleged sightings, I know there have been several false reports filed and those individuals have been arrested.

There were suggestions that it was a publicity stunt for Rob Zombie's latest film but he has denied it. I think it's too soon for It to be doing this kind of stunt.

I'm a MS teacher and a friend who teaches in the elementary school across the street texted me because she heard that we were on a lock down (we weren't...) We also heard rumors about this clown business at our schools today, and a letter went out to parents from the superintendent today. Craziness....

I feel sorry for anyone wanting to dress up as a clown for Halloween though..

Our town supervisor but out an alert warning people about making false reports since that is just making this nonsense 10 times worse! Last night coming home from the theater car full of teens next to me, 3 in the backseat had scream masks on- all this clown stuff bringing out all the idiots.
