Just got off Dream on Monday. DH and I had passes for Rainforest. Lo and behold, an older woman and her male partner enter and begin to unclothed. Everything came off. They showered and lounged in the nude. Gotta say, a bit...awkward for all in there. Is clothing required? Can CM enforce?

OH...MY...GOODNESS! WOW!!!!!!!! Did anyone tell a CM so they could go over and politely tell the couple that bathing suits are required? Why in the world would that couple think anyone wants to see that?!?!?! :worried:

LOL Based on descriptions, there was no bad intention soooo: Come on. It's just a body... We all have one.

Clothing is required but I see "confused" guests almost every time I go to the spa (not only on Disney). It happens. Go talk to a CM. The end.

:rotfl2:

not everyone is from the US... some are from other countries where customs surrounding clothing are much less prudish. Of course a CM should say something and have them follow rules but omg how funny. I wouldn't want to be the CM to enforce it though!

You would definitely be shocked in a Japanese Bath House.

In some cultures, even in the USA, spas, steam rooms, etc should be enjoyed without the restrictions of clothing. Just don't look if it bothers you.

I don’t really care what other people look like naked. It’s not the visual that disturbs me, it’s the germicidal.

I like to pretend in my mind that the bathing suit acts as some sort of protection from exposure to other people’s, well, umm ... shall we say unwanted bodily bacteria, as they sit and recline on public spaces.

I've never witnessed anyone nude in the rainforest room, but this is the second time recently I've read an account of guests believing the rainforest room is clothing optional. I'm surprised no one said anything to them. There are usually spa employees around, cleaning up towels and making sure everything is in order.

They don't provide any barrier. Been in any of the hot tubs lately?

They're probably from another country. While on DCL clothing is required in the Rainforest Room, but in Europe you may encounter quite the opposite where clothing is not allowed in many public saunas. And most beaches and pools in Europe are tops optional for women. It really behooves the traveler to know local customs and rules. A tactful remark to a CM should take care of any misunderstanding.

I agree, they couple were from the US as I heard them speak. If that is what you like- ok.. but I believe that we also must be respectful of others. Yup... nude in the Jacuzzi.. not cool.

Many cultures have nude bathing. I have been to bath houses, not the ones you are thinking, legitimate ones, in Germany. Some were completely clothing optional and some required a bathing suit. The tight swimmer kind for men no less; hubby loved that:rolleyes: The clothing optional one actually had days and rooms that were co-ed. Luckily, I took my glasses off for that one, but I kept having to stare at people to find my husband. We had to start out in separate gender areas. I think one guy thought I was looking at him, when I was really just trying to focus without my glasses:sad2:
