clothes to take for my DD.

Hi, I am in planing mode as not to long to go. A few questions about clothes, lol.

What sort of clothes should I take for my DD(age 5), I was thinking cotton floaty dresses rather than shorts and T shirts, would they be okay?
I want her to be as comfortable as possible in the heat.

Also what type shoes do you take for children? As will need something comfy and that don't make her feet to sweaty.

Also how quickly do you dry after a shower?

Personally I would just put her in shorts. Good quality walking sandals would be ideal, then they are quick drying if you go on any water rides. Just managed to get my kids (16 and 18) into them last year after getting their feet soaked at IoA wearing trainers and socks, not pleasant. They thought sandals a bit lame till they tried them then thought they were cool in all senses of the word.

We have not been caught in a shower but have experience water rides that get you soaked. In the holidays in July dried out really quickly. Holidays in February took a bit longer.

We wear quick drying clothes, notably Rohan products, which are designed to dry up quickly.

I think floaty dresses would be fine. We have usually taken shorts and t-shirts or cotton jersey dresses for our daughter. The shorts are the t-shirt material kind you buy in Next in twin packs in 2 shades and mix and match them with various tops including all the character tshirts you will buy! They dry quickly if she gets wet on a ride and are stretchy and comfy. I avoid strappy shoulders on tops and dresses at all costs due to the sun. Don't forget a couple of pairs of cropped trousers and a cardi for the evenings when AC can be a bit cool.

A two piece surf suit is good for water parks and the pool. Less surface area to apply cream to! We usually buy a matching hat which protects the neck too. Since our daughter got out of swim nappies we don't buy one piece surf suits as they are hard to peel off quickly when desperate for a wee.

Jennifer has always had Timberland sandals in pink, they have adjustable straps and are waterproof. I might buy Crocs this year though. Trainers are handy for the evenings or soft shoes like Clarks Doodles.

These are the Timberland Sandals, she has had them several times now. We buy them from Timberland shop or John Lewis.

We don't take too much as we love to buy her stuff there especially from Gap, Tommy Kids and Nike. We have been several times in May so we stock up on all her summer clothes while we are there.

Any clothing that is loose and comfortable would be ideal, naturally I cannot comment on dresses!!

Shorts/t-shirts are perfectly fine.

Footwear is most important, sandals I am sure would be ok although we tend to take trainers for Joshua.
I always feel the sole of the shoes need to be thicker than sandal type footwear personally as you get more support for all that walking.
Florida and especially around the parks is not the place to break in a new pair of shoes.

Even in summer if you go on a water ride (especially if you go on 'Popeyes Barges' at IOA)or get caught in a bad shower you would not necessarily dry out quickly. We always take a spare change of clothes for Josh anyway at the parks.

My DD always wore T shirts, shorts, crops etc.. she'll be fine in dresses if she wants to wear them.

For footware, I'd buy some crocs.. They weren't around when my DD was 5 (she's 21 this year.. help!), but they are perfect for adults and kids too!

CROCS!!!!! ....They were WONDERFUL for my dd6 last August. Easy to put on..cool and totally comfortable. She had no problems whatsoever with her feet and we did a LOT of walking.
They look so cute on kids too...DD has them in light pink..dark pink..red...yellow!!...I went crocs crazy. ..So she had a pair for all different colours of outfits.
I got her the size 12/13..and they all still fit now , to be honest she wore them ALL summer I can't sing crocs praises enough. It was very important to me that DD was comfortable as nothing can ruin a trip like blisters
I'll defo be investing in more for this yrs trip and in fact for the whole summer here in the UK. My DD lives in crocs from April to October...

I even persuaded my DS 14 to try a pair of navy blue ones last trip. He wouldn't touch them for the first couple of days but his feet were hot and sore in trainers so he relented and never looked back..comfy feet for the rest of the holiday.

I second having no straps on shoulders though...too easy for little shoulders to burn..shorts and tee shirts are the easiest..I get mine from next too.
