Since we always do our vacation in July, I thought I'd post what worked for me and what didn't this trip.
We had a GREAT time, but it definately was the most humid and hot that I can remember for July for 10 days straight.
1. Bought new underwear at a hiking/camping store $15 a pair! But was supposed to be wonderful....stay in place, cool, wash and dry in 2 hours.
Best underwear I ever wore! Going back for another pair, wear 1, wash .Didn't save the name, but I'm sure all good hiking stores carry them.
2. Forget the hair, the humidity was unreal. Bought a wide brimmed hat while down there( I never wear hats, don't have the face for it). Found a Panama Jack hat at Universal, lived in it in the afternoons.
3. Made the mistake of wearing a really cute rayon tank top one morning, lasted about an hour, went back to the hotel put back on another cotton tank top.
4. it was so hot, even sleeveless tops with a collar were too hot., Wore all the cotton tanks, none of the dressier cuter tops. except once at dinner.
5. Only wore half of what I packed. Comfort won out over cute every time.
6. brought a sweater for evening restaraunts, never wore it, AC was never too cool.
7. Loved the Target cotton skorts, cute and comfy
8. Only wore capri pants once to dinner, never wore jeans. Even my all cotton capris were too hot. It was shorts all the way., but glad I took capri's, next time just 2 pair.
9 forgot to pack my good walking shoes, had 2 different styles of Merril sandals, there were great, and reef flip flops for the short days. No problems.
Feet never felt tired. Love those Merrils! Not cheap, but worth it.
10 ditched the back pack after first day, just too hot to lug around. carried a small tube of sunscreen in pocket, other pocket had cell, wore a clip on id badge for ticket and FP. DH carried our small camera in his pocket. Drank water so fast, never really carried it. Bought it, sat down drank it , moved on.
Wore sunglasses around neck when off. DH carried the cash.
