Clothes Question

Just wondering what sort of clothes people take with them. Normally I have the day shorts etc and then dressy up for the evening. I was wondering if say you go to the parks at about 4pm and then perhaps stay until 8pm is it then okay to say go to Downtown Disney in your shorts for something to eat? For us staying at I Drive it will be a case of if we go early afternoon then we will probably stay up there or at least go straight out for something to eat but don't want to have to take clothes to change into.

People dont tend to "dress up". Normaly take a couple of nice things just in case but generally just shorts.

I always wear shorts and t-shirt when I eat at Downtown Disney, whether it be midday or 9pm in the evening.

It is very relaxed in that respect, pretty much like the whole of Orlando to be honest.

Just the way I like it......

Thanks for your replies, that sounds great I have some smartish shorts which I can wear late afternoon evening.

I have spent the afternoon finding the holiday clothes that need washing (not been out since last year) and sorting out the suitcases.

Just casual stuff. We like those 3 in one trousers and have just bought some from Rohan. I have not done the nightclubs but have been out and about on an evening and everyone just wears casual stuff.

We didn't dress up to eat out (not like on holiday in Europe) - unless your eating at certain deluxe hotel restaurants (like V&A Table) there is no need to change. Probably different if you're clubbing.

I would suggest though shorts that are not too short (as you stick to the plastic upholstery) and a cardigan or something - one time in Cracker Barrel the A/C was so efficient I went and got my fleece out of the car!

Every year I take 'dressy ' clothes thinking I'd get dressed up for evening meals. Every year they come back unworn as I always seem to be rushing to get to my ps and end up going in my 'day' clothes. I don't find theres any pressure to make you feel like you've got to dress up.

I must say I usually take dressy stuff - didn't take any following the advice on the boards and didn't miss it at all! (I'm normally a 2-outfits a day minimum plus an extra bag for shoes.....) 2 pairs trainers, pair of sandals and a pair of flip flops did me this time

I am going to take mainly shorts and just a couple of skirts I think and leave the numerous pairs of shoes at home I have invested in a good pair of walking sandals and will get some flip flops and that will be it. I can always go shopping in the outlet shops.

You do need at least 2 pairs of well-broken in footwear - I took very old trainers and newer (broken in) trainers and threw the old ones away on our last day - the pouring rain at Epcot had finished them off anyway!. ( It is very bad for your feet to wear the same shoes every day). The only blisters I got all week were walking back to the bus in my flip flops after getting soaked on Kali River Rapids!

Coolmax socks/trainer liners also help pamper tired tootsies!

All the more reason not to take much out with you. We are just going with the minimum. We ended up needing to buy an extra suitcase on our second visit, went for 3 weeks, so spent a lot more time shopping.

This is my first trip but according to all my friends it really is casual all the way..we will be eating out alot as we are in a villa so i have decided to keep a casual skirt and sandals in the car so that if i feel a bit conscious in my shorts later at night i can just throw the skirt on with more feminine sandals rather than my daytime trainers...

We bought an extra suitcase

My sister had a good idea - she bought some of those bags you use to compress clothes, blankets etc. so they take up less room. You can get them here before you go (Lakeland, John Lewis etc) but she got a pack in Walmart for $14 and managed to get clothes for herself, husband and 4 kids into 4 suitcases. Mind you, the kids hand luggage was also a bit bulky by the time they got to the plane
