We use only cloth diapers/wipes and will be staying on site (Probably the new Animation resort)

What is the availability of washer/dryer at WDW?

There are laundry facilities at the resort, usually near the pool at the values.
The washers and dryers cost $2 a load each. Sometimes it takes more than one cycle to dry.
Small boxes of detergent are available from a vending machine, but are pricey.
If you use a particular brand and can transport it, it's worth it.

I believe there is usually a change machine also.

Have a great trip!

The one thing I would recommend is to do at least one super hot wash and rinse prior to putting your diapers in the washing machine. You don't want to ruin your good cloth diapers by having them all gunked due to detergent and softener residue in the washer. Also, the washing temp might not be as hot as you are used to so beware of that.

We found that using compostable liners helped a great deal with the washing while traveling. We used the super awesome ones from Imse Vimse. Here is a link. http://www.cottontailbaby.com/item_22/Bio-Liners-by-Imse-Vimse.htm

We use cloth diapers too, but when we travel to WDW (we're going this October with a 3-month-old) we temporarily switch to disposables.

As pp said, washers and dryers are in all resorts in a common area. If you splurge for a deluxe villa resort, you'll have a washer and dryer in your room.

We also only use cloth diapers and wipes and take them on weekend trips but for our 8 day DW trip in Sept. I'm buying disposables. I don't want to spend my vacation doing laundry. Even if I could manage to only wash diapers 3 times each load takes at least 2 hours, maybe more. I don't want to.spend my vacation time doing that.

Very very good point! Thanks!

As for using disposables, we can't due to allergies but I haven't tried the Isme Visme liners. I may give those a try a home!

Not sure what your wash routine is, but I have found the washer/dryers in hotels to have only preset wash choices and as such I was not able to add in extra rinses or wash time. While I love cloth diapers and don't want in any way to discourage their use you may want to consider a hybrid system or even flats which can be washed by hand.

Have you tried the flip inserts? They have a lot less in them, so they possibly might not be allergenic for your LO. Just throwing it out there.

Contents:

9g Non-Woven Bamboo Viscose
19-20g Wood Pulp
2.5g SAP
1g Starch-Based Glue

I'd also be discreet about washing them. A lot of people don't want to wash their clothes in a machine that has had diapers in it. Logic is lost on some people. ;)

I cloth diapered my twins and I am definitely a pro-cloth mama, but I would never wash my child's diapers in public laundry facilities. You dont know the washing machine, and I can imagine it would violate safety laws. I would use disposable inserts for the trip and discard. Or think about buying a pack of Nature Babycare for your trip.

I don't think this makes any sense. I don't know of any law that could prevent you from washing soiled clothes in a public washing machine. :confused3

I would not use cloth on vacation for the simple reason that I wouldn't want all the soap residue on my cloth diapers. I didn't even wash my cloth at my Aunt's house for fear of ruining my stash. I packed the dirties up in a plastic garbage bag and washed at home. It wasn't a full week though, so your mileage may vary.

It for sure does not violate any laws to wash diapers in a public facility. In fact a study was done that showed washing a load of cloth diapers left less bacteria in the washer that a load of bat towels.

Normally when traveling I use Flip shells and gdiapers with pad folded flats as inserts. this is cheap and easy to was and dry. I have even used this on a cruise.

S far I have found no diaper or insert that does not cause huge welts on my son.

Sounds like you have a good system going.

Have you compared the cost of renting points for a villa so you have a washer/dryer in your room?

Definitely use flats! You can wash them in the bath tub and hang to dry for free:)

We stayed offsite and had a W/D in our room. We did disposables during the day and then cloth on our days not in the parks, the last diaper of the day IN the park and nighttime (so 2-3 a day, plus full days on days "off"). Sorry to hear your LO is allergic to dispoable. I love my cloth but not having paper as an option at times would make me looney!

I have not but that is a great idea!

Also, consider a timeshare condo at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. If you travel during the low season, it can be ridiculously affordable. We'll have a 4 bedroom presidential (sleeps 12) in September for $1250. It was cheaper than a single suite at Art of Animation with a 30% military discount.

I have three kids under three, so a washer and dryer is my #1 priority even though I'm not cloth diapering anymore.
