Closing Time!

I don't think DVC even allows more than 4 people to be on title.
Anecdotally, I've purchased a resale contract that had 5 people on the deed. They were all in different states, so waiting on their signed documents was super long and painful, but we managed to close on the date in the contract. Definitely need the agents to be on top of it.

I hadn't realized before now how long magic vacation titles has been taking to send out closing documents. Has anyone had luck getting it sooner by contacting them?

Big no, was told I’m still on track to close “on time”

I have been looking at everyone’s title company and not seeing the one I will be working with. Has anyone ever used or heard of Fidelity National Title & Escow of Hawaii? This is my first purchase and my luck is my title company take 6 months to do anything. Lol

I had a similar situation so I had to wait almost 3 weeks for the seller to sign cause there was 5 of them and all of them had to get there papers notarized

If you're an existing member, and the contract is the same UY (which it must be if it automatically appeared on your dashboard), then there won't be any email. The contract will just appear, and the points will follow.

You only get the emails if you are a new member who needs to set up their DVC account, or an existing member adding on a new UY, or the ownership is different (co-owner, etc.), which means a new membership #.
That’s interesting you say that, Our first contract was an April UY. Our second contract was March UY and we didn’t receive an email or anything. It just showed up on our dashboard and now we’re waiting for our third contract to show up and it’s a March UY.
At this point, I don’t really care how it shows up. I just need it to show up soon.🤣

The new membership just showed up, and you can now just switch between memberships? Was the second contract purchased directly from DVC? If you bought directly from DVC, then they would have set it up.

ETA: Now I'm hearing that you DON"T need to use the "Add New Membership" button when adding a new membership to your existing dashboard, regardless of whether it's a new UY or not, or whether you bought the new UY contract direct or resale. Sounds like DVC is simply adding the new membership to your dashboard automatically and no activation code is required. Wonder how long the button will stay.

The biggest risk (besides availability) I see is actually getting the points in your account in time for an end of June reservation. For the contract I'm waiting on right now, it took 2 weeks after closing documents were returned for the title company to get it finalized. I'm still waiting on points to hit the account (currently going on 2 1/2 weeks after closing with no known date in sight). So right now tracking over 4 1/2 weeks after the seller's returned documents for my contract. Note: Another title company that seems to have a bad reputation did closing 1 day after seller returned the documents. So lots of unknowns.

One thing I've done is book a reservation I need in August with points from another contract that doesn't have to be banked for a couple months. Since I have these points available in this use year, I'm basically holding my reservation, waiting for the new contract. Once the new contract is entered in the system, Member services told me I can transfer the contract points that will be expiring this use year to the other contract and then reallocate the points for that reservation. Hopefully what I said just made sense. If that's even an option for you (all depends on having extra points in this use year to hold the reservation on another contract), just something to consider. Hopefully all this madness of point reshuffling works out as Member services recommended. :)
This is really what I am most worried about. I think I'm going to hold off till I at least get a closing date. I am seeing some as you mentioned, take up to 2 weeks once docs are in - if that's the case, I'll go ahead and just book. I'm still holding off some hope but not looking good. Thanks for responding!!

Just got told all documents are in and closing tomorrow! Mentioned that deed is expected to be recorded on Monday. :)

That's very exciting news! So glad your title company is able to process it quickly.

The next (what seems to be torturous) wait is getting those points in your account. Fingers crossed it goes quickly for you too!

Both of those are pretty good possibilities, with SSR being even more so. We aren't allowed to look up or provide actual availability on this forum due to constant availability changes, but I'd say you have a really good chance, particularly with SSR, maybe a little less so with OKW.
When I was renting points I would go to dvcreservations .com to check availability.

Yes I can just switch from either of them. All of my contracts are resale!

Got my closing update while at Disneyland :)

Wow. I had no idea Magic Vacation Title was so slow in comparison to other companies out there. I used them figuring they were reputable because they are the preferred title company of the board sponsor. I’m now regretting that decision if they are going to take three weeks longer than other companies to issue closing docs. Sigh. Too late now.

They are reputable, but they are also under the same corporate umbrella as the board sponsor.

Here‘s hoping someone from the company drops in to the board and this thread every once in a while, to see how unhappy people are that their company is slower than their competitors.

I would imagine it's more that they generally do more closings than any other company, being that they are associated with World of DVC/board sponsor, so while I"m sure they know they aren't the fastest, I also don't know what they can do about it right now, when they are no doubt overwhelmed by the number of contracts. Things may even out a bit as Disney takes longer for ROFR, as summer hits, etc.

The very obvious thing they can do is hire more people. Taking 30 days to get closing docs is behind ridiculous when everyone else can do it in under 1 week.
I am so happy that I am not using them.
