It will take a while to get you into the system once you close. It might be another month or a bit less. You should be able to get OKW, SSR, AKV for sure.

I'm in the process of closing (direct purchase with DVC) and the rep I spoke with at Quality Assurance told me I could book now even before my contract closes. Evidently you can call DVC Member Services, provide your member ID and book within the window. Gave tried it but that was the report. Good luck!

If you plan to stay at DL at lot, no, not bad.

May is not a super busy DVC time so you should have quite a few options at 6 months out. Not sure about VGC though as we have never tried that. I know, since it is a smaller resort, it can be tough to get. Congrats and WELCOME HOME!!!!....and good luck with your add-on-itis!

In a slow period, VGC is decently easy to get at 11 months through the 7 month window. Anything less than 7 mos and it gets more difficult, especially weekends.
