What Publix is closest to WDW/Ft Wilderness?

Also, what other grocery stores would you all recommend that are near Ft Wilderness (besides the convenience store near the boat launch). We will have a car so driving is not an issue for us. Thanks!

For the record we shop at the Winn-Dixie on S. Apopka-Vineland Rd.

Go out of the Fort parking lot and turn left. Go through lights/stops till you come to a T (Highway 535).

Turn right onto 535 and go a few miles to S. Apopka-Vineland road (big intersection). Turn left. Go less than a mile and WD is on the right (next to the Papa Johns hint-hint).

One way time from the Fort is 10 minutes. Little traffic.

Sorry, I've been in the back of Winn Dixie stores before.... I can;t shop there!:sad2:

The closest Publix I have found is Publix Regency Village Shopping Center.

Driving Directions:

Exit the Disney complex on Hotel Plaza Blvd (Lake Buena Vista) to 535, turning right on 535.

Drive under I-4, turning left at the first light after you cross under I-4. This should be Vineland Ave.

Continue on Vineland Ave, pass the outlet stores (nice center) and follow the signs to Publix.

Current Store Hours:

Sun 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Mon 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Tues 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Wed 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Thurs 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Fri 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Sat 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

I prefer the WinnDixie, but also go to a WalMart Supercenter. Follow PP's directions to drive under I-4 on 535. Then keep straight on 535 a couple more miles. WalMart is on the right set back in a shopping center.

There is also a Walmart on Turkey Lake Road (you can see it from I-4) Whole Foods is across the street. And a Publix on Central Florida Parkway (Sea World Exit).

There is a Publix in the Shopping Center behind the Old Dixie Land Stampede (near the outlets) but the prices are HIGH. You can get to the Central Florida Parkway Publix but going up International Drive and making a right at Central Florida Parkway. Publix is on the right.

If you can't find what you need at the Winn Dixie (Or don't like the prices) on Apopka Vineland/535, make a left onto Lake right and go to the 4 way stop (Palm Parkway). Make a left and go though the light, you will pass the Post office, Westgate Resort and Sand Lake Hospital. On the left will be the Turkey Lake Walmart.

Just an FYI this is the Publix I mentioned in my post. The prices are higher at this Publix (tourist prices), if you are buying food for a week, you may want to use the Publix on Central Florida Parkway.

Don't know what's in the back of Winn Dixie stores that you know, but on our April visit we went to the one mentioned here and it seemed fine to me. I wandered around for a long while looking for a styrofoam cooler but finally found a helpful employee. We went the "back way" to the Fort using Google directions and it was quick with little traffic.

I'm talking about the back rooms/employee only areas. In my experience Yuck....

X2 on both and the SWM gas has diesel at a decent price. Also, the W-D is about the only dependable place to get a TV Guide.
