What is the closest grocery to WDW and/or your favorite to go to?

Working on updating my DVC folder. I know... I know - nerdville.

OK... Just found directions to Winn Dixie someone from the boards once gave me. Didn't Winn Dixie go under recently?

Did that new Publix ever get built near Crossroads?

I haven't been to Publix. But I was at the Winn-Dixie about 3 weeks ago. They had a sign on their door "this location will not be closing". I think they are closing only some of the stores, but not all.

HEY!! HEY!! I have one too!! I thought I was the only nerd. Its such a relief to know that I have company! My husband made a lot of fun of me but I referred to it alot...so there. I consider myself in good company.

:rotfl:

I love the new Publix, went there in April. It was nice and new, had a good selection and good prices.

I love the Publix at Little Lake Bryan. It seems to be empty most of the time (of customers, not food! :) ) Take Hotel Plaza Blvd to 535, turn right, then left at the first light after I-4. Drive past the outlet mall and it's on your left. You can take International Drive back and then World Center Drive onto Disney property.

That way I can stop at the Premium Outlets for a Starbucks before heading back to WDW.... and if I need a 2nd one, I can stop at the Orlando World Center Marriott!

We used to stop at Albertsons on the way in from the airport which was very convenient and also had several restaurants in the vicinity. Lately though we have been using the Publix near the premium outlets--huge selection of stuff there! The W-D is also nice, but Publix is so much bigger that I usually go there.

if you turn left when you leave WDW by the DTD exit, then drive about a third of a mile, there is a Winn Dixie on the right hand side of the road....
it's a really nice store with a huge selection.....much nicer than the Goodings in Crossroads....

i've never been to a publix...

How would i get to the new publix from SSR. Thanks Susan

I like the new Super Target behind Publix - can't think of the name of the street it's on, but it just opened within the past year.

I hear that the SuperWalmart is good too, but have never been.

Poohs pal - hotel plaza blvd - is the road really close to SSR. It is where the DD hotels are located. So just follow those directions

you turn right out of SSR onto Disney Vacation Way - then you turn right again on Buena Vista then left turn to Hotel Plaza - at the end of Hotel Plaza at the traffic light turn right (535) - go under the I4 take the left turn (again at the traffic light - the Premium Outlet mall will be on your right side - a little further and HGVC - on the left side is Public and a Walgreen.

If you are going in US 27 there is a Super Walmart right before US 192 - it is not busy yet. I don't think alot of people know it is there. This is a BIG store definitely bring your walking shoes.

to get to the Super Target - just stay on 535 also called Apopka-Vineland Rd - get in the middle lane (both the left and right lane will end) - once you are pass Osceola Parkway (another over pass) - get in the left lane -

when the road ends at the traffic light you are turning left US 192 W

the Target and a Sams about a 1/4 mile down this road on the LEFT side.

Huge selection at the SuperWalmart. Problem with the SuperWalmart is that it is SuperCrowded. :crazy2:  :rolleyes2

::yes::::yes::::yes::
Our favourite:)

If you head down the 27 - toward the I4, there's a Publix right at the lights (where you enter for Regal Palms/Highlands Reserve G&CC)

HTH!

We use the Albertsons also, because they will do my shopping for me for free! princess: I can fax them a specific list of items the day before and they will have it ready for me when we pull up on our way from the airport to the hotel. I like it because I don't have to spend an hour shopping before my vacation even starts. I can usually just run it, grab anything extra I might have forgotten, and then just go to the counter and ask for my order. They walk you right over to a checkout and ring you up - its very fast and of course - free, which is nice.

I was wondering if Publix or Winn Dixie provided this service and is there a charge? Although I don't mind Albertson's, I think that sometimes there selection is limited and there are a couple of items that I put on my list that they will have to make a substitution for, with a different brand that I'm unfamiliar with, etc.

Thanks for all the info.

Sooo, which is the closet out of all of these? Is it the Winn Dixie?

What about Goodings? We usually shop there. It's very convenient. They have a great deli and bakery. Prices are a little more than here, but hey it's close to Disney world right?

Mstec,

We were thinking of using Albertsons for the same reason. Is that the one on Orange Blossom Trail?

Thanks!

Winn Dixi is maybe 4 minutes tops further down the road and has real food prices not inflated tourist rip off prices. There is a liquor store and a PaPa John's Pizza in the same little strip center. (PaPa John's delivers to a lot of WDW hotels. FYI)

Gooding shouild be called Evilings the prices are nuts.
