Closest & best suite hotel to Disneyland

Taking the grandkids to Disneyland in September for their 1st visit (ages 8 and 10). I am more excited than they are! My wishes for a hotel - a separate bedroom for grandma (me), they are okay with sleeping on a hideabed. Also a full kitchen and complimentary breakfast. And a nice pool. Considering the Residence Inn--Maingate, or Hampton Suites. Would prefer walking distance, but if not possible then a shuttle. Would love to stay really close but it seems as though those don't have the separate bedroom.I would also love to have a view of the park. I know--asking for a lot! Any experiences/advice very much appreciated.

we stayed at The Homewood Suites( a Hilton property) last year, and loved it!! It is a mile from the parks, but has a shuttle(small fee,) kitchen, free daily b-fast, free lite dinner M-TH. Our room had 2 queen beds, and then a separate living area with a sofa bed and kitchen. Target is across the street, and there are many restaurants close by.

We have stayed at both the Homewood Suites and Staybridge Suites, which were both really nice, and great value. Especially with the great breakfast, and the afternoon snacks they offer. You do have to take the ART to get to the parks. There are some suite hotels right at the crosswalk also, and we have stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn. I have to say, after staying there, and being right at the crosswalk, we will never stay at a hotel that requires the ART. Avoiding the wait for the shuttle, time on the shuttle, etc. compared to a 6-8 minute walk is the way to go for us. There are also other hotels with suites that are near the crosswalk, but that is the only one we have had a suite at. Good luck with your decision

You do have to take the ART to get to the parks.

Homewood Suites has it's own shuttle that is shared with the hotel next door (Marriott suites, I believe)

Where in Oregon do you live? I am in Gresham. You know right after I posted that, I realized I should have said ART/Shuttle. My point was that you have to decide between walking distance or shuttle. We loved both the Homewood and Staybridge, just wish we could walk there and back Do you have any trips planned?

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn in February, and we were pleased. It was $187 or so a night. You mentioned you were wanting:

--a separate bedroom for grandma (me), they are okay with sleeping on a hideabed.

Park Vue Inn has a suite with a separate bedroom with 2 queen beds, and a hide-a-bed in the living room area. The beds were comfy.

--a full kitchen and complimentary breakfast.

The suite above has a stove top and oven, microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and a real kitchen sink, along with all the dishes/cookware/silverware that a family could need! Their comp breakfast is actually impressive--cereals, oatmeal, toast, bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, and some other things. It filled us up on the way into the parks! It is a busy place in the morning, though.

--a nice pool.

So, their pool isn't anything "special" or amazing, but it was sparkling clean, and DD said it was a good temperature. The hot tub was also nice.

It's across the street from the pedestrian entrance of Disneyland.

A 1-bedroom DVC villa the the Grand Californian would meet all your needs, except free breakfast. Unfortunately, VGC rentals must generally be planned more than 7 months in advance.

We have stayed at the GC but never rented points and stayed in a Villa. What website would I look on for such a rental?

There's a forum on here... Look under the main forum list, and it says something like "DVC rentals" or such. You can learn a lot more there. I don't know all the ins and outs, just know that there's a forum for it

Renting points for a 1br at VCG is going to cost a lot more than an offsite room. A LOT more.

We've got a family suite booked at Tropicana for our upcoming trip. There is a separate bedroom but the bedroom has 2 doubles while the sofa bed is queen. I was told that the matress was replaced within the last year and that they're supposedly comfortable. I'll find out soon enough. The family suite does have a full kitchen. You have to call to get info, pricing and booking details for the family suite as they only have 2 and they don't show up online though there is a virtual tour of it on their site. They also have a 2 room kitchen suite that would work though it's around $100 more per night. The breakfast looks to be only some basic baked goods. If you've got a full kitchen, you can easily whip up something with protein or you can even get some premade breakfasts like Jimmy Dean stuff and heat those in your room. Tropicana is one of the hotels that's directly across the street. I don't know about the park view. They do have some park view suites you can book but those don't have kitchens. I'm not sure if there are any of the kitchen suites with park views or not but I'm doubtful since you would think that would be a bookable category as they could easily charge extra for it. The pool likes like a basic pool but clean. It is surrounded by parking I believe, if that's a concern. You can see it on their website.

I tried to book Park Vue Inn recommended by PP but their suites were full during our stay. Best Western Anaheim Inn across the street also has kitchen suites but like Tropicana you have to call to get info.

If you're ok with a bus or 10+ minute walk then I'd personally choose Residence Inn Maingate.
