closest beach

we have a free day during our trip this Aug. What is the closest beach? West Coast/ East Coast?

East coast is closer. Probably Ormand Beach or Daytona Beach would be about the closest. East coast is about an hour drive.

West coast beaches are about an hour and a half.

We made it to Jetty Park beach in Port Canaveral in about 45 minutes a few weeks ago, it was a great beach!

Cocoa Beach is close and very nice!

I would drive the extra half hour and go to Clearwater, Treasure Island, or St Pete Beach on the Gulf Coast. They are gorgeous and worth the extra time.

When I did the CP, we went to Cocoa Beach & Treasure Island. Cocoa was a shorter drive & nice but I enjoyed the West coast a lot better.

Cocoa Beach is probably your closest from the Disney area. We went last summer and had a great time. If you decide on Cocoa, be sure to visit Ron Jon's Surf Shop....its HUGE!

We entered the beach at Lori Wilson Park. Parking is free, and there are showers and washrooms just off the parking area. It was nice and quiet there.

I also agree We used to live 15 minutes behind the Magic Kingdom and would always go west coast if given the choice. We got married on the beach in Clearwater and visited Treasure Island often. Nicer sand, nicer water, nicer everything on the west! The restaurant choices are also much better in this area if you're looking for something other than fast food.

Cocoa Beach is best for surfing -- it has some awesome swells --- but Clearwater is a wonderful fun relaxed day at the beach with some nice waves but nothing to over the head --
