I too am wondering this. I asked a few pages back, but no one responded. I hope someone can help. :thumbsup2

This past May at the dolphin, there was a DSA at the entrance to the dolphin off to the left side with benches.
There was a DSA out the back of the Dolphin with no benches.
And smoking was allowed at the Grotto pool.

ETA: Krissy the Dolphin has been very accommodating to me in the past, more so than a disney resort. I always ask for and receive a ground floor patio room. makes it much more convenient to get outside. Ask for a ground floor room near a dsa

Do you know if the Swan and Dolphin both have ground floor rooms? It's very hard to tell anything from the official maps. Thanks!

never stayed at the Swan but I do know I saw some ground floor rooms at the dolphin, facing the pool area (kinda facing the lap pool).
so I assume they had ground floor room on the other side of the building , too. just never really looked to check it out.

I am not sure about the swan either, I will have to take a look next time I am there. I imagine they would, but I really don't recall seeing any patio rooms around the swan.

Does anyone know if you can buy cigarettes at Orlando Int'l Airport and how much they cost. If they are cheaper/same as here in CT I might just buy them when we arrive. TIA

Maybe this has been asked and answered before but I didn't read all of the earlier threads so here it goes is there any maps that show the dsa's at the parks?I am responsible for finding these for our all girls trip.Do not want to break any rules/offend anyone by smoking in non dsa's that are no longer valid. If there are not any available would guest services have a list for each park/resort?

good question don't have any answers for you don't know what the prices are in fl but I can almost without a doubt say prices are cheaper here in wv and will be bringing my own.Hope you get an answer to your question though

I know the HESS stations on Disney property sell cigarettes by the carton and they are very reasonable prices. Probably cheaper than CT. There is a HESS station right across from the Pleasure Island Downtown Disney bus stop that you can walk to and there is a HESS station right across the street from the Boardwalk resort. (Not sure if there are sidewalks to that one.)

I don't remember what they were when I last bought cigarettes at the airport about 2-3 years ago, but I thought they were expensive. At the time, we were paying about $4.50 per pack at home (now about $5.50 per pack). Sorry I can't be of more help than that, but my friend who lives in Massachusetts still considers cigarettes in Florida to be cheaper than what she pays at home, if that's any help. I still think Florida charges more than I pay at home. BTW, at WDW resorts, they were outrageously priced (but convenient). Buy at Hess or offsite if you get the chance.

The park maps** are supposed to show the DSA's, but the DSA's are constantly being changed so the maps aren't terribly reliable. The map you pick up at the entrance on the day you arrive at the particular park will be the most accurate, but not necessarily up-to-date. Some days a DSA may be moved temporarily for a function that day, sometimes they have just been eliminated permanently. If you arrive at an area where the DSA is marked on the map but isn't apparent, ask a CM. The CM's carrying the brooms and dust pans are the most knowledgeable about DSA locations and will happily point out or even personally escort you to the nearest one.

It can be frustrating at times, especially when the parks are crowded, but perseverance pays off and I applaud your efforts to find the DSA's in advance. I've spent up to an hour being misdirected by uninformed CM's to DSA's which have been moved or closed, which leads other smokers to giving up and smoking in non-DSA areas.

** Park maps are available in abundance at the entrance to each park, and at shops and at kiosks throughout the park. You'll have no problem finding them for everyone in your party. If you're staying on property, you'll be given maps to all of the parks at check-in.

I'm so glad you posted this! I had never really considered the Dolphin or Swan before, but based on your post I called this morning and made a reservation at the Dolphin. They were very accommodating on the phone, and said a ground floor room should be very doable, since most of the requests are for higher floors. I also like that I am confirmed for a king bed...that works much better for the 2 of us than two separate beds!

When I spoke with the reservations desk this morning, the agent told me only the Dolphin has ground floor guest rooms.

I dont know about the airport prices but we just got back from FW cabins and I had to buy a pack at the trading post and it was $9.95 per pack!!! ACK! :scared1: I live in Tax-achusetts and Disney prices shocked even me! ;)
My friend lives on the NH border and gets them for me every few weeks at $53 a carton usually...

probably already mentioned (but its a long thread) Blizzard Beach had a nice shaded centrally located DSA with benches between Tikes Peak and The larger attractions, near Avalunch... in case anyone wanted to know :)

I don't think DTD has DSA's. You can pretty much smoke anywhere. I always try to find a spot out of the high traffic areas. There are ash trays on the top of most of the trash cans there.

That is correct. Smoke in pretty much any outdoor space at DTD. There are a couple of exceptions such as the outdoor performance theater and it is marked as no smoking. I would also believe that the outside seating areas at some of the restaurants are no smoking.

good luck with smoking in EPCOT!! we were there in September and the maps do have DSA BUT they changed the DSA without giving out new maps. I hope they change them by next year!!! I will go crazy!!!
Also smoking in Animal Kingdom is scarce!!

We were there for two weeks in October. I went to smoke in a DSA at Epcot a couple of times on our first day. Into the second week I went to the same DSA and sat smoking happily until I wanted to put the butt into the trash can/ashtray and there wasn't one. I ended up walking up to everyone sitting around and apologizing profusely. Luckily they found it hilarious :guilty: and weren't bothered at all. I wish when they moved a DSA they would at least put a small, unobtrusive sign up saying THIS IS NO LONGER A DSA. YOUR NEAREST ONE IS ....

As for AK  there were times I really did feel like I was crossing continents to get to a DSA. Whatever happened to the my favorite one outside Beastly Bazaar? When did they change all these? :confused3 I was not taking a train to Rafiki's Planet Watch just for a cigarette!

I was at AK Friday. I am embarassed to say I ha an absolute melt-down. I have always been a rule follower and dilligently searched out the DSA's, but after my experience at AK I have to admit I understand why people break the rules.

We had 8 am reservations at Tusker House. Enjoyed breakfast and told my family that I would step out and smoke while they waited on the check. Of course, when I went to the smoking area there it was no longer there. I asked a CM and he directed me to Camp MM. That's a good hike back, but I started that way already a little ticked off because we wanted to ride the Safari right at park opening. When I get there it is roped off. I ask the CM's where the smoking area is and they tell me there is one there, but it is not open until 9:30 and that I can go to EE. (I am embarassed about this now, but I'm just gonna be honest) I was already sick, It was COLD all week and I was tired. So by now I am starting to get upset. I told them that I was told to come there to smoke and that I am not going to walk all the way to EE after I had just walked all the way there. They said I could not go in ( this is the embarassing part) I started to cry. I was mad and upset. I said, I am going to smoke now so call security if you need to. They opened the rope and let me sit on a bench. By now I am blubbering like a baby. A manager type was called I guess because he came to talk to me and told me I needed to complain at guest relations so they would know there was a problem. I told him I wanted my AP refunded (ok, by now I was hysterical)

Now maybe it's just me, but there is a smoking area at Camp MM, a kid's section, but not one in Africa here there is a bar! :confused3 Does that make any sense at all? There are now ONLY 4 DSA'S AT AK. One way at the back of Camp MM, one over by EE, one at Dinoland (another kid's section) and one at the conservation station. I went back and looked at an older map (after EE, but before Nemo) and there were 9 DSA'S. I am so discouraged. I talked to guest relations, but that was a waste of time. The cm there told me that there wasn't one in Africa because of safety for the animals...what a crock. :sad2: BTW, I went to FOTLK later that day and as we were coming out, there was a woman storming down the trail and cussing almost every other word about why they would expect people to go way down there to smoke when they were trying to ride the rides.

I stayed at WL and have to say that you really need to request a room close to the middle exit to be anywhere near the smoking area and if it is cold...YOU WILL FREEZE NEARLY TO DEATH AT THE POOL BAR SMOKING AREA. I am so frustrated that there is not a place provided that has shelter from the weather. We stayed at SSR the second part of our trip and came home about 9:30 to find the sprinklers running in the only smoking area.

And people wonder why people don't follow the rules and smoke at DSA's. If they take away all the DSA's and expect you to walk clean across AK or out into the freezing weather or the rain...then people are gonna break the rules. THEY NEED TO MAKE IT MORE CONVENIENT TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

pureTcrazy:

you poor thing... bless your little heart! I feel for you.

and agree with you.. there is no rhyme or reason for the removal of smoking areas.

the one behind tusker house and dawa bar: at first it was near the wall over looking the creek.. then they moved in way in the back where no one goes anyway. and now they removed it!?.

and youdid what your were supposed to do. asked a CM to direct you to the nearest DSA. me? I would have just sat down in the place where the DSA is supposed to be and had a smoke. IF anyone approached me, I would have said, "well, this is a DSA. no, I don't have a map, don't need one. I know where all the DSAs are from my last trip." and by that time, I would have said "oops, sorry , didn't know.. they keep moving them" and by that time I would have been done with my smoke anyway.

this is actually what happened witht he DSa outside Mouse gear, near the dancing fountain at Epcot. someone would have to walk way out of their way to go NEAR it (it's nowhere near an entrance and way away from the "path"). so they eliminated it. ?????:confused3 well, enough people just kept smoking there anyway, and now it's back.

but. you do the right thing, they send you a LONG ways away, and then tell you "nope, the dsa is closed!" I understand your frustration.

you know, there used to be a DSA in camp minnie mickey, between the entrance to the Lion King show and the restrooms. one year we were smoking there and a Cm came up and informed us it was no longer a DSA. the "storyline?" once someone threw a butt in the bushes behind the benches and it started a fire. t hat is why it was removed.... like that couldn't happen anywhere?

but now there is one in camp Minnie Mickey again, set back further... that's fine. so... someone couldn't throw a butt into the bushes there? that's why I know that whole story was a crock.

it is harder and harder to follow the rules. and we dissers really try (as, I'm sure, many others) but they make it So hard, that we know a lot of people who do'nt care at all will just give up and smoke anywhere. then we considerate smokers suffer, cause we ALL get blamed, and they "punish" us by removing even MORE DSAs, instead of doing the logical thing, and ADDING more.:confused3

may I say to you::hug:... you need it.

I've never seen the commercial but this song has those lyrics

Peaches - Kick it (feat. iggy pop)

How do you do that cool dance?
Baby don’t split those high pants.
I got these moves that we can do to in sync
I don’t look too good in pink!
