If you mean the one outside the Chapeau and Tony's, yes that one is still there as of last week.

The one by the castle bridge is still there also.

Hooray! Thank you. I just could not remember the name of the Chapeau as I was posting. I don't know how many times I have been dragged in there by DD. I always say yes because I know what awaits me outside when we are done :rotfl2:

I'll snoop around with my maps and see which ones are where. I do that anyway (you know - smoking ;) ) so I can figure out if they've taken away any more of the good DSA's. My fav used to be behind Liberty Square - but now that area is a meet-n-great. I did not know that the one by the Castle was still there - have to look for that one! :smokin:

sometimes there just is no rhyme or reason. our fav. spot is gone. you can see the fountain at epcot, but it is WAY in and "inlet", near mousesavers, but not near the entrance at all!! someone would have to go out of their way (really) to fo near it. (we use it anyway, have never been "called on it". if anyone ever said anything, we would claim ignorance and move.
now, the one by Aloha Isle? we avoid that one! how silly! families are there having ice cream. we HAVE used it, but as soon as anyone shows the slight annoyance, we put out our cigs. so we finally just decided to avoid it entirely.

And nobody EVER went there! Even people watching the fountain would sit out on the wall close to the fountain! I HATE that TPTB took away that DSA!!! Hate it hate it hate it! I heard they removed the one near Living Seas as well! Yet, probably, the one near the restrooms near Guest Services is still there (tell me THAT'S not silly - how many more Guests have to walk through there than the little UNUSED nook outside MouseGears????). Is there still one between The Land and Imagination? How about near Test Track? Norway? Just to the right when you enter World Showcase? Way back in France? ANYWHERE else in WS?

DHS - I remember one in a sunken area not too far from 50s Prime Time and Indiana Jones; one near Tower of Terror; one near the bakery behind/attached to Brown Derby... one near the Coke vendor and the entrance to the Backstage Tour...

AK - next to/behind the bar in Africa; on the bridge between Expedition Everest and DinoLand; behind the store and lattice fencing IN DinoLand, where the dinosaur is...

And I suppose they took away the DSA opposite BTMRR?

the one by coral reef was great too!. it was a TOTAL dead end!!! it went to no where.!
last time we were there, tho one between the land and imagination was still there.
the one by Big thunder?! still there! )at least in august. if you read hummy nebos' Trip reports, he takes a picture, every trip, sitting in the rocking chair. and other trip reporters (his fans!:grouphug:) have made a point of taking thier pictures in that chair, also! It's nebo's favorite smoking spot..
the one near test track is there. the one by norway is gone. the one to the left as you enter WS is gone (between the Odyssey entrance and the big store in world showcase plaza. the canada one is gone. the one in france is still there. the one in China, by the gardens, is still there, the one in the gardens (by the british invasion group) is gone.
the one behind touluca turky legs (between RRC and TOT has been moved to a dead end by TOT. the one by brown derby is still there. the one by Indiana jones .. by sci fi, is still there..
the one is africa by the dawa bar is there, but moved behind the bar, not by the wall by the water. the one you had to go down to (it was probably to hard for you to get to anyway) by andrapaur? tea co. is gone. the one by the dinosaur, behind the shop is still there.
this was as of last august, though.. who knows???

the one to the right of showcase plaza, before you get to canada, is still there. (just before the mcdonalds and the smallest restroom in the world) (and I don't mean world showcase, I mean the smallest restroom in the WORLD!)

Forget it. I'm going to Las Vegas. Sure, you can't smoke in restaurants. Yeah, they banned smoking inside the airport (but just back in 2008). Some public restrooms ban smoking (while others have ashtrays in the stalls and on the counters). No smoking in the shows. Other than that, it's harder to find NONsmoking areas.

Want to smoke in a park? Go for it. Sitting at a slot machine? Sure; yes, it's polite to ask someone already seated at the next machine if they mind, but really, it's allowed. Ditto for the tables. Walk around the streets? Heck, you can DRINK on the public sidewalks. Nobody's going to ban smoking any time soon. By the pool? Sure. IN the pool? Don't see why not - some of the pools have swim-up bars, even swim-up blackjack. I don't know about you, but I like to smoke when I drink... and when I gamble.

I'm going to Las Vegas.

The ones I remember seeing from our March trip are:

Epcot: Between Journey into Imagination and the Land; the concrete pit near Test Track; the plaza at Italy; and on the walkway to International Gateway (the back exit to the Epcot Resorts). We didn't go around World Showcase to Norway and China so I don't know if those two DSA's are still there.

DHS: There was one outside the Tower of Terror shop, all the way in the back; one next to Starring Rolls Bakery at the beginning of Sunset Blvd.; and the one across from Sci-Fi Dine-In is still there. I didn't see any others.

AK: The one on the bridge near Expedition Everest is still there; the one behind the shop in Dinoland (with the lattice fence) is there. Those are all I saw, but I didn't get a chance to look for the one in Africa.

MK: There must have been one near Aloha Isle because DH went there to smoke (or maybe there wasn't and he smoked anyway, I don't know); there was one across from Big Thunder Mountain, down near the river; there is still the small one across from Tony's in Town Square. We didn't get to Tomorrowland so I don't know if there were any over there. That's all I saw in MK.

On this trip I did notice a lot more people smoking outside of the DSA's than I have on previous trips, probably because of the poor locations, maps, signage, and crowding at the actual DSA's.

The one near Aloha is great - it is one of the few shaded spots.

I know that I spent last trip ASKING CMs where the DSAs were as they didn't correspond with the maps a lot of the time. Most of them were there, but not where indicated on the map which led to people smoking where the map said you could, but actually not being in a designated smoking area. I don't know why they mess with them. The DSAs are generally set back from the main walkways so I don't see how this could upset non smokers except in principle. :confused3

Well I was in MK last night and the DSA by the Castle is now next to Sir Mickey's but is behind the castle. I think this one might be different from the one that I liked that was closer to the funnel cake place in Liberty Square. Maybe that one's always been there and I just didn't see it before?

The DSA that was in Liberty Square behind the shops is down next to the water across from Frontierland shops/attractions. The DSA by Splash Mtn is still there, and so are the ones by Tonys and Aloha Isle.

Tomorrow will either be EPCOT t is AK so I'll see which DSA's I can locate. :)

katie, you crack me up! Is Vegas where all the smokers and drinkers (and gamblers) go? :rotfl2: We smokers need SOMEWHERE we're still acceptable! Of course, with all the recent smoking law changes, I'd probably FORGET I could smoke in Vegas! :rolleyes1 You are funny tho!

I've NEVER been to Vegas!!!!:sad2: I'm not a big gambler, but it just sounds fun. but hubby (and HE'S the big smoker)only wants to go to disney.
we almost went, about 4 years ago. but then we offered #1 son and his family to come to disney with us instead.

I've never been either, that's why I asked! I can gamble really well - virtually/online - but when actual $$$ is involved, then I'd say I'm OCD. Vegas scares me because of the ACTUAL $$$ I might lose! :scared1:

Tunica and Biloxi are the same way!! I was shocked!! You mean, I can sit here next to other people and smoke??? Wow!!!! Free watered-down drinks too!!!

On the park maps, are the DSA areas as indicated today or have some moved and maps are old. Will be their in 23 days. Don't really smoke in parks except Epcot but will be at Sosa's many night on our trip. Have become a regular their when home at OKW and have gotten to know the manager and friends from Florida drop in to enjoy and few smokes with me. :cool1:

Gamblers? Oh, right - gambling's legal in Las Vegas, too. I forgot - I'm so excited at not being ostracized for smoking!!!

You should have heard me when I first found out they banned smoking inside the airport!! They had these little Plexiglas rooms with ventilation... and, oh yeah - those video game thingies where you put in money and sometimes got back money (instead of points like with most video games?). No problem. Well, when I checked in and found out my flight was delayed what turned out to be almost FOUR hours, and said, "No problem, I'll just hang out in the smoking area" and the counter agent told me I couldn't smoke?????? I almost WALKED home :rotfl2:

Planning. You're a DISer - certainly you know how to plan? ;) You determine IN ADVANCE how much you can afford to lose - aka entertainment funds - over the entire trip. Say it's $1,000. You divide this by the number of days you'll be there - say five. That's $200 per day.

Then you divide this into gambling 'sessions' - how many times each day do you intend/expect to gamble, realistically? Four? Okay, great. You split your gambling funds into four $50 packets for the day. Once you've gone through the $50, you STOP.

There's more to it than that - grab the Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas (or Casino Gambling for Dummies, and there's NOTHING wrong with the "for Dummies" series, if my brother happens to be reading this ;)).

:rotfl2: You are hysterical, and yet, so real! Thanks!

What do I do after each of my $50 packets are gone each day? I'm border OCD, self-diagnosed, and STOPPING is just NOT part of that. :rolleyes1

You are a riot! :rotfl:

Sightsee. Walk up and down the Strip. Have a drink at the Fontana Bar at the Bellagio (drink slowly) out on the patio and watch the fountains. See the free shows in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Later in the day, head a little further up the Strip for the Mirage Volcano.

Head up the Eiffel Tower - AAA discount. See the lions in MGM. Line up around 10 AM one or more days, at/near the Coke bottle, and buy half-price show (and dinner!) tickets from Tix4Tonite. Pick up the "What's On" and (I think) Showtime magazines - may even be one in your hotel room - and use the coupons. There should be one to see Mac King's comedy show at Harrah's 'free' with the purchase of a drink.

People-watch. Stand behind a table and just watch people play. See what casinos offer free lessons in what games and try them. Go to the California downtown and play craps, except Tuesday or Wednesday. Tip well (there's only one craps table) :teeth: Ask the dealers which one is my brother. Tell him I'm still upset with him, and I'm TAKING the comedy class anyway, but thanks for the advice :rotfl2: While you're there, enjoy the Fremont Street Experience.
