I haven't seen this specific question- I know there are resorts where you are allowed to use another resort's pool- like at the all stars, or soon to be at POP/AOA. If you are staying at all stars is it intended to be allowed that you can use your mug if you can use their pool?
So if I am staying at POP, if we head over to AOA to use the pool, are we supposed to be able to use our mugs there too? Or is that against the rules?

I haven't heard yet that AOA and Pop Century are sister resorts. Where did you hear that?

For All Stars, yes it's already been established that you can use your mugs across the three resorts. For Pop/AOA, I don't think we know for certain what relationship between them is going to be, and if pool and mug use between the two resorts will be allowed.

It's a good guess that the answer will be yes, but again, I don't think any knows the official story. I would guess it won't be figured out until AOA actually opens.

I don't know that I did actually hear that POP/AOA would be sister resorts outside of speculation... and at that it's probably from back when it was first being released that they were making AOA. I think it's in my mind because of the whole thing where there is a bridge connecting them and that it was initially going to be the other half of POP. I guess we will find out this summer. I'm hopeful because I know we are staying at POP and that we will be walking over, would make it more fun if we can eat and swim.
Thanks for the info about the all-stars mugs though, now I will know if we ever stay at one of them!

misty, I too, am hoping pop and AOA will be sister resorts. I ahd heard rumoirs of the bridge being closed down.. It's hust we all expected the "other half" of pop to come along, sooner or later.

well, even if they are not sister resorts, you can always eat at ANY resort! (not so the poosl, but I am really hoping on that one!)

as far as the mugs I am going to get flack for this but it is my opinionthat it is alright to use your mug at a dif. resort. on your vacation. and I know that 5 people now will post a picture of the sign by the mugs that say "at this resort".

I think you are staying at a disney resort , and eating at a disney resort, there is nothing morally reprehensible (or even dishonest) about using the mug you paid for.. you are still eating at a disney resort. you are just wanting to try out a dif. one, for future reference, for futre stays.

we buy a new mug every trip.. and we use that mug on the whole trip. if it bothers your conscience, don't do it.

Unfortunately, your opinion isn't the same as Disney. The resort that you bought it at is not the same as every resort that you could visit. The mug itself has the text of the rules written right on the mug. The older mugs didn't have the rules written on them because the signs were posted right there and Disney probably didn't think they needed them posted right on the mug. They figured their error and corrected it.

yes, I know (that was me, not hubby Nebo posting, BYW)
when we buy a mug for our vacation, I have no qualms whatsoever about using the mug at a dif. resort if I am there using their shops, restaurants, etc or visiting for future stays, or to see the christmas decor. it states "this" resort. but I take that loosely. and if you ask a cm, they do too. cause I'll be darned if I am buying brand new mugs for every resort we stay on our trip, if we choose to give disney more of our money and stay at a couple, pricier resorts. or visit other resorts to spend our money, as is encouraged.
not the same at all as bringing back mugs from a previous trip. like I said, just my opinion, and I won't be losing any slepp over it, and neither shoudl anyone else.

So glad they added the black handle/lid to the mix. Last spring, we each got one and DH wasn't fond of yellow/pink/teal. Too girly he said. I think Disney heard us since the yellow has since been replaced by black. We'll be there next week and will get a couple. They should have 4 colors anyway.

Anyone hear about the new trial going on with the mugs and the chips that will only activate the soda machine if it is in the time you are staying? I just read an article on it, it will definitely stop the use of mugs from different years.

Though I agree that I have no problem using a mug at a different resort, during my stay. I disagree heavily about bringing an old mug back and using it. That is just WRONG and nothing pisses me off more than being honest and paying for a new mug every year and then seeing someone walk up with an old mug and nothing gets said.

That trial finished a little while ago, they've now gone back to the old system without the RFID chip.

Still the same pool scene as last year, at Pop and elsewhere.

Bummer. Is there any word if new mugs will be coming out for this year? We have the ones from last year and are doing the quick service plan again this year. I was hoping for a different mug :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but during our upcoming stay at Pop, can the mugs be used at Petals Pool Bar?

If you mean refilled at Petals, I don't think so. There's no station there. You'd go into Everything Pop to get your refills. They are close to each other.

Hello all... I'm new,, just found this site ;) Was wondering, the refill mugs that you get while staying on property,, can you get them filled all day in the parks as well? If so, how much? If not, do they have a mug/cup that you can buy and get free refills all week for the parks, as they do for the resorts? I'm so excited, haven't been to FL in 18yrs, and never stayed on property before!!!

Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Welcome to the boards! The easy answer to both questions is no.

For more information, go to the first post of this thread. You'll get all the information you need there.

At one time AK had a refillable mug that you could get reduced price drinks for the day when you showed your receipt. But I don't think they do that anymore. And that was the only one at the parks. The resort mugs are only good at the resort you bought it at for the duration of your reservation at that resort.

Okay... thanks so much for your answers!! :thumbsup2

Wait, I forgot about the water parks. They sell a mug that you can refill all day at the water park. Then you can bring it back on another visit and buy a new sticker for the mug (about $5 or $6) and refill for the day.

Thank you for the reply. Having stayed at Coronado Springs, which we loved, I'm imagining a longer walk to the main building than it actually is at Pop. We used the nearby pool bar for refills at CSR, as we were a long way from the main building. I see on the map at Pop that the distances are a little closer. Thanks again!
