And depending on if you have a dining plan and more specifically which one...you may have one on there, so you would not have to buy one... we were there 2 weeks ago and had the deluxe dining plan and we all got one free with it...well they were included.

They are included on the Deluxe plan, and the quick-service only plan, but not the intermediate "1QS, 1TS, 1Snack" plan (2011).

I also asked recently about using a resort mug at a water park, and if there was an option to buy "just the barcode for the day" rather than the water park's mug with the barcode (as I'd seen contradictory replies as to if this is possible) ; Typhoon Lagoon had this as an option, at $5.

That actually sounds like a really good deal, since that's about the cost of two regular sized sodas.

Good to know. Thanks

We bought 2 mugs at the Turtle Shack Snack bar at Old Key West on May 1 and the cast member told us that they were good at any resort on WDW property. Now I've bought many (many) refillable mugs over the years and never had anyone volunteer that information. I'm also aware of what it says on the mug. I even asked her to repeat what she said, and she did. I thought maybe it was a something new they did when they came out with the new mugs. We didn't have a need to use them anywhere else, but I thought it was interesting!

Talk to a CM and you'll get multiple different answers and maybe the correct one once. It's written on the mug. Those are the rules.

Just saying.... I thought it was interesting, not that I thought it was true.

Actually that's half correct. You would need to purchase the actual mugs sold at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon that come with a bar code sticker which is scanned each time you refill the mugs. So the next time you visit either water park you bring back the mug you purchased from there and then pay $5.00 for a new bar code sticker.

I apologize in advance if this question was answered recently, but I just found this thread yesterday and we leave this coming Wednesday. At the very beginning of the thread it was mentioned that mugs purchased prior to 2000 were lifetime refillable mugs. Does this still hold true? We purchased our mugs in 1999 at the All Star resorts and haven't been since, until this year. We will be staying at the All Star resorts again and I was curious if I should pack them or leave them at home.

Thank you all for your time and patience with this question.

No, unfortunately the policy was for the length of your trip only even back then. I know it was in 1997 when we bought our first mugs.

Between my stays at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge from 1998 - 2000 there were signs where the mugs were displayed that said they were good for life at the resort where you purchased the mug. There was nothing written on the mugs to indicate otherwise. I assume that this also holds true for mugs
purchased at the All Star Resorts prior to 2000, but it is of course up to you to decide what to do.

I have a refillable mug from Port Orleans I bought in 2006........do the resorts still have their own mugs or all of them the same generic looking ones shown in the pics?

No resort-specific mugs, or merchandise of any kind actually. The mugs are the same across all the resorts.

Kinda sucks because you can't get the resort mugs...for each resort would be nice to collect

I think it would be better if they still had all their own mugs instead of one generic looking one...makes it more of an unique stay

anyone have pics of the OKW mug? just wanted to see what that one looked liked before the switch

I understand your opinion. I do have old pop century and and coronado springs mugs, and I love them!
I guess I wish they gave you and option of generic or resort specific mugs. my reason? and I know some will disagree with me..

there is NO WAY I will buy mugs for each member of my family, then give Disney more of my money by transferring (during the SAME VACATION, mind you)to a more expensive DISNEY resort, and buy mugs AGAIN (for each member of my family.) nope not doing it . nonsense. poppycock.
and don't bother showing me a picture you took of the sign saying "at your stay at THIS resort only" .

therefore, I like the generic mugs. however, if Disney went back to resort specific mugs, I would purchase them at our first resort, and use them throughout our trip anyways (we have stayed at 4 dif. resorts in one trip) with nary a feeling of guilt in the slightest!!!

I agree with you on that one. Resort specific mugs do not work for people that are doing split stays.
