Cute Birthday Girl stuff!


I made a bag!
Its the first nice, grown up bag I have made.....
I made my kids really simple totes, but this is the first time I have used interfacing and I used a pattern I got so many years ago that I can't remember. So, now I can say it was worth it

Ok so I finished my first dress/jumper. I am not happy with it the stitching is way too loose So I guess I will have to make a couple more before I really like the way it looks. I did make the button holes on my machine (which is really weird, I have never done that before.) anyway I didn't add buttons on it b/c I hate it..
So here is a pic of an ugly dress..

So i am working on a journl for a big give and am making pages for give kids the world. This is the first page (the second will be about her star.) What do you think? I m going to print it on light yellow paper.

HELP!!! The buttons I just bought are too big for my Button hole foot!!!! What do I do?????

As you can see the buttons aren't attached they are too big for my foot HELP!!!!!

I showed you guys this awhile ago but i finally got Nik to model it. Well actually she was wearing it to school.

What a great outfit! Glad you got the button holes big enough. My sister in law taught me to use little scissors to cut my button holes. At first I was scared but you really do have more control. Another thing you can do is put a pin at the end of the button hole so you don't cut through it. OH and love the skirt outfit too!

wHey Everybody,
I havent been on so much, life has been overwhelming at times, trying to stay in touch with whats going on with my Dad. At this point they have found that his cancer is now in his lymph nodes and he has severe osteoperosis and is having cyroplasty (spelling????) surgery on his back to repair the fractured parts of his spine. I am going to go for a visit tomorrow and Im bringing them an early Valentines Day gift- a crock pot!
They need to be able to dump ingredients in and have dinner ready at night.
My Father called today to ask if I was coming, and was I spending the night? (I had planned on making it a day trip since DH JUST got back from his business trip) My Dad doesnt want to "need" me, but I think he might want me to stay over night....sigh....maybe I will. It means packing for both DD and myself. and dh wont get to spend friday night with us....

I am ALMOST done with my Feliz. I just have the bottom ruffle to add- but last night it was NOT going well....

first- I didnt know where my cording was, so I grabbed dental floss, I did my zigzag across the floss and "ruffled" then I got 2 pins in and I went to loosen the ruffle a bit and the floss broke! I had to deruffle, and then cut out the whole zigzag. I then went to do it the old fashioned way- legthening my straight stitch with 2 rows. The first one my top thread ran out. I replaced and ripped out and redid. The second row I sewed the whole thing around before I realized my bobbin thread ran out. I just put it down and said it will have to wait for tomorrow.
So today is the big day! I have to say I LOVE the look of ruffles-but I do not like having to attach them to the hem. But Im SOOOOOO close to being done!

The cuties were my last minute shirts. Dallas saw 2 jibbitz I got me that were cuties and wanted the Mickey one. Then I saw how cute this clipart was and fell in love. Dallas did not act thrilled about Pluto, but he'll wear it and Lin said he would wear it too. These are our Valentine's Day outfits, but we leave that day so will wear them earlier in the week. I was going to put a heart in Minnie's hand but now I don't feel like it.

And those are my quickie Animal Kingdom shirts.

Dallas' for the campfire if we go or Epcot. I am not real sure now that I kind of have an extra set of outfits what we will wear when. I CASED Dale (or is it Chip).

We leave in about 16 hours! Now to start packing and check the weather.

WOW!!!! Those are wonderful! That is Chip-he has the black nose like a chocolate chip.

Of course I am lurking everyday! By the time I get off work, there are 5 to 7 pages to catch up on and then I am in awe of everyone's talent and don't type anything!

Yeah, the stupid me didn't buy enough fabric for the straps and that is why the look bad. Thank you for all of the ideas!!!! She will not be wearing this for easter...lol I was just going to let her wear it around the house until i make a nicer one with different fabric (I found a pink pasley (sp) fabric at Walmart )

just play around with a scap of fabric until you are happy with the tension. Be sure to use the same fabric and layers you are using for the dress. The dress is still really cute, maybe she could wear it to an egg hunt or something. It still deserves to be seen!

Linette...you're absolutely right! I'd forgotten that! I'm lazy and do a half-back stitch too.... It's been a long time since I made anything with darts for myself....I'm always sewing for my yardstick dds!

Those pics/demos are really good! Any that I had had me scratching my own head after reading, and I know what I'm doing! lol

Did anyone notice Beyonce's darts at the inaguration ball? You would think that for what I am sure she paid for that dress, the seamstress would have ensured that the darts didn't look like her you know whats... or maybe it wasn't the darts and it was her you know whats... At any rate, as a sewer, I noticed it right away and thought... "those darts are doing her no favors."

Have a great time! Speaking of the cold, I saw that the Plant City strawberries are in big danger of the freeze. And did anyone see the pics of the manatees huddled together near a power plant in FL trying to keep warm? It was an amazing sight.

Alright ladies Sophia is going for surgery in the am, please keep send good thoughts and prayers our way! I know it is a minor procedure but they still have to put her to sleep and cut her open then sew her back up again! So prayers for the surgeons steady hand and for sophia to not be in to much pain when she wakes up. Oh and for me not to have a melt down and blobber like a baby when they take her away! yep it's already starting
Ahhhhhh it's gonna be a long day tomorrow.

I was just over on Becca's PTR and Mandy made this post:

REBECCA IS IN HOSPITAL.

It is 11.35pm and at this moment in time she is having brain surgery to aspirate a rarther large and deep rooted abcess in her brain. We are hoping that they will be able to aspitate the abcess through a small hole but she may have to have a full blown craniotomy.

I will update as soon as I know any more.

Your prayers and good wishes are needed.

Sponge- Sewing is what got me through my youngest daughters seizures. When my baby turned a year old she started having seizures. Over the course of 3-4 months she had 30. It was awful. I would stay up all night waiting for the next to occur.

I can't tell you how many nights I do this. Seizures suck!!

when I was sewing the outfit on Sunday a friend of ours was in the house with his wife and two daughters, the older one is 9 yrs old , and as I was trying to decide what to do, I asked her to try it on, (big mistake!!) she wanted the outfit for her and I felt bad so I gave her to her,

I'm baaaack! Labor and delivery only lasted 2 hours. Wahoo!!! He is just perfect and we are all doing well.

They also got a call today that the job that his Dad was laid off from will no longer carry them on the insurance (the company is owned by Daniels mom's uncle - he didnt have the guts to call, had his secretary do it)....but they are waiting to hear from PA medicaid for Daniel,,,not sure what they are doing for themselves, but the other kids I think can get on CHIPS program

He hasnt been doing any school yet - he has been out of school since the beginning of Dec, so Im guessing he will have to repeat this year??? Really, until radiation is done, I dont see how he would squeeze school in - and his mind isnt totally clear for learning yet....any one have thought or experience with the educational part of a sick child's care????

That is absolutely horrible the Uncle wouldn't even call I hope they're able to get it figured out quickly and without too much added stress.

Last year Drew missed 3 mo of school. He had 2 surgeries during the school year. He didn't have to make any of it up. They had him do what he could when he was there. He was in 3rd grade. He went up with his class to the 4th grade this year. He has a medical IEP.
