ooh I will have to look for the Ramona books, I remember those. And Judy Bloome books. I picked up a new set of books they are call The Pet Fairies. I got her two of those Penny the Pony Fairy and another. They are cute I read it this morning. haha

Isn't that the Rainbow Magic series? If so Nikki LOVED them when she was in 1st and 2nd grade!

Thanks for everyone's congrats! His name is Cameron Scott. He was 7 lbs, 10ozs and 19 inches long. I feel great, much better than I did a few days ago! Around half time during the Superbowl, I started to feel uncomfortable and called the midwife to say I was coming in. Got to the hospital around 9pm, was 5cm and he was born at 11:05. Things moved fast and furious! I added his photo to my sig, we'll see if it works. I have a terrible time with photobucket.

He is beautiful!!!! Welcome to the world, little Cameron!

I need to learn more about how dress go together so I do better next time. Thanks for the support!

Wow, I can't believe you just came up with the pattern on your own. It's looking really pretty.

I haven't posted in a really long time but I still follow the thread. I just love all the wonderful things you guys make. My dd is getting older so it is harder to sew things for her, but I plan to make a few things for our trip. I found this cute tutorial and my keychain/wallet actually just broke so I made this one. What do you think? Here is the tutorial website.... http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=190408.0

th_IMG_1660.jpg

That is just too adorable. I love the way you positioned the fabric. What a cute Mickey Mouse! Thanks for sharing the tutorial! I bookmarked it to try someday.

Here is my soon to be 7 year old! Nothing new here just wanted to show how big she is getting!

Here are the fabrics and the shirt with leggings for Georgia's birthday outfit

Great fabrics! What fun bright colors. That's going to be cute.

I made a bag!

Its reversible!

The bag looks really nice. I think it looks fine with just fabric handles. Neat fabric choices. Love the reversibility factor :thumbsup2

I think it looks really cute. ::yes::

What a great idea! Love the first page. The icecream question is too funny. Great start!:thumbsup2

it sure is! The one I read this morning was really darling.

I got my iron everyone! My fabric is washed and ready to be ironed and cut! Then on to my lovely lonely sewing machine! hehe

I asked a few pages back about any Hannah Montana applique ideas.... ANy one have any???

I missed your original post, so I don't know what you are looking for specifically. I made DD a HM set, but she doesn't like purple so I decided not to use any of the HM fabrics. Here's what I did. (They have jeans that go with it too - it has a guitar and the "HM" on each leg. I also had a super cute necklace made to match! (Actually I bought the beads, then designed the set around it!)

So many cute things. I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would jump right in on this page. I keep wondering how the big meet is going to go. I for one would be nervous meeting anyone from Disboards but those I have bumped into in the parks have been nice. I am thinking the big meet will be great since we already share so much here and I wish I could be there. I am trying to convince DH we need to go back in October. We'll see what happens. If we go I would love to meet anyone else who goes.
It is cute! I think we are WAY to critical of our own work!

I liked your guitar idea. They are easy to applique and you can get as detailed as you want or just leave it and people will still see it is a guitar.
Ok so I finished my first dress/jumper. I am not happy with it :sad2: the stitching is way too loose :guilty: So I guess I will have to make a couple more before I really like the way it looks. I did make the button holes on my machine (which is really weird, I have never done that before.) anyway I didn't add buttons on it b/c I hate it..
So here is a pic of an ugly dress.. :lmao:

I love these fabrics. I think it is cute! Don't be too hard on yourself.
So i am working on a journl for a big give and am making pages for give kids the world. This is the first page (the second will be about her star.) What do you think? I m going to print it on light yellow paper.

Nik looks really cute in the new outfit.

wHey Everybody,
I havent been on so much, life has been overwhelming at times, trying to stay in touch with whats going on with my Dad. At this point they have found that his cancer is now in his lymph nodes and he has severe osteoperosis and is having cyroplasty (spelling????) surgery on his back to repair the fractured parts of his spine. I am going to go for a visit tomorrow and Im bringing them an early Valentines Day gift- a crock pot!
They need to be able to dump ingredients in and have dinner ready at night.
My Father called today to ask if I was coming, and was I spending the night? (I had planned on making it a day trip since DH JUST got back from his business trip) My Dad doesnt want to "need" me, but I think he might want me to stay over night....sigh....maybe I will. It means packing for both DD and myself. and dh wont get to spend friday night with us....

I am ALMOST done with my Feliz. I just have the bottom ruffle to add- but last night it was NOT going well....

first- I didnt know where my cording was, so I grabbed dental floss, I did my zigzag across the floss and "ruffled" then I got 2 pins in and I went to loosen the ruffle a bit and the floss broke! I had to deruffle, and then cut out the whole zigzag. I then went to do it the old fashioned way- legthening my straight stitch with 2 rows. The first one my top thread ran out. I replaced and ripped out and redid. The second row I sewed the whole thing around before I realized my bobbin thread ran out. I just put it down and said it will have to wait for tomorrow.
So today is the big day! I have to say I LOVE the look of ruffles-but I do not like having to attach them to the hem. But Im SOOOOOO close to being done!

Hey, Did pixiedust: upgrade?

I'm guessing you may be a perfectionist? :scratchin I think it looks adorable.

Do you talented ladies have room in your group for someone new?
:)

Welcome:wave2:

Cute Birthday Girl stuff!

I made a bag!
Its the first nice, grown up bag I have made.....
I made my kids really simple totes, but this is the first time I have used interfacing and I used a pattern I got so many years ago that I can't remember. So, now I can say it was worth it :)

th_one.jpg
two.jpg

the bag!

th_three.jpg

Its reversible!

th_pattern.jpg

the pattern that has been in my sewing box for years.

th_handles.jpg

and the handles that weren't meant to be :(

So, the story with the handles... I wanted to make the second bag option, which is reversible. And I got these cute handles, but sewing them on proved to be a problem. They don't bend and with the lining and trying to sew it all together, right sides facing, with the handles in between and make the turns to go around the opening of the purse.... I was thinking of just doing it by hand (which is a bad idea for me) and then I decided to try a single strap.
I got the fabrics from the remnant basket at Joann a few weeks back and have been wanting to use them. I am not sure I would use it with the green side out but, who knows. I still need to do some top stitching and then I think its done.

I know its late for most, but I am all excited and had to share :)
In other news.... Kids watched Toy Story 2 for the first time this week. And my DS5 has been saying all day "Draw that man in a chicken suit!" At first I was soo confused... now it cracks me up :rotfl:

Wow, so cute. I never have such good luck with remnant fabric at Joanns.

Do you talented ladies have room in your group for someone new? I'm a Disney Vacation buff (we live in WA and go at least twice a year), but just now venturing into the land of sewing/applique as I have a two year old and am going broke buying for her on ebay/etsy. :)

I have stayed up way, way too late reading a bajillion threads and looking at too many adorable things. But I had a question for you that I was hoping you'd be able to help me with. I've found some applique/embroidery designs on etsy that I want to purchase, but I'm looking to also purchase some of the common ones I see on so many designs on ebay - specifically, the mickey head sillhouette with a chef hat on, or a pirate's scarf, or a princess hat. Do you know which ones I mean? I'd post a link to some auctions but I think that's against the rules. :)

I have searched several different ways on ebay/etsy for them, and while I have found some, I haven't found the few I'm looking for. I know that Disney is pretty tight on regulating their brand, so I'm wondering if I'm searching for the wrong thing? Should I be searching for them using some secret non-Disney speak or something? ;)

Sincere thanks to anyone at all who can help me!! :)

I just jumped in and joined this group a month ago after lurking for a few months! I have learned more on here than I have in 20 some years of sewing! Plus they introduced me to YCMT, my new obsession. I am also interested in the mickey/minnie pirate head pattern, so I'll be interested in the answer as well.

th_dress-1.jpg

oh stop, its very cute! When you say the stitching is too loose do you mean the stitching length needs to be smaller or your tension needs to be adjusted? I was thinking if you don't like the way the stitching looks, you could cover it with rickrack or ribbon in a coordinating color. Some of the colors in the dress are really prominent, like the pink in the straps and the brown of the eggs but not clearly tied to other fabrics in the dress. Using the embellshments could bring it all together a little bit better and help cover up the loose stitching. Does that make sense? Hope it might help!

Sounds like you figured it out (can't tell you how many times I've opened up the hole waaayyy to much... oops!). But I was thinking, my buttonhole stitch can be as long as needed to fit any size button. On my machine, it is not the foot that dictates the size of the hole. Is yours specific to a certain foot? At any rate, both outfits turned out awesome!

It is good that you are spending overnite. I find parents want to be in control and not "need" us to help. It makes them feel good to do things but I do little things to help out when I can. Just making a dinner and staying over is wonderful. I will put your dad on our prayer list if that is ok?

I think not having a girl might be a blessing. I can't wait to see the pictures of the dress when you finished. I hate running out the thread and not knowing. You are almost there and it is going to be great.:cheer2:

Very cute. I love the butterfly fabric.

thanks! i really liked the fabric too until I saw on that show with the Duggers there was a family or maybe it was them that all had matching outfits with this material ! It kind of ruined it for me...

My foot has a spot to put the button in it so it know what size the hole should be. It is the only kind of foot ihave ever used. I guess because I have only had Brother machines...

Tracie, if you are lurking the design for the meet looks great all ironed on! Thanks Kristine for printing it for me!

You make the cutest stuff, looks like your DD could wear a different custom outfit each day of the year! How do you get it all done, please tell me your laundry is piled to the ceiling? :rotfl2:

LOL! How did you guess? I have piles of laundry that needs ot get done! But my sink if clean - nothing worse than a pile of dirty dishes!

DD is rebelling against customs. Sometimes she loves the twirl tops/jumpers but does not want anything on her jeans. And forget about bows! I can only get her to wear bows for pictures now.

Could someone please explain to me proper placement of a dart on the underside? How far up does the dart go to? Also, how do you know how much to take in on the wide part?

Sorry, I have released the darts and want to get it right this time.

I'm not sure if anyone answered you yet. BUT....the markings on the pattern are for both the placement and the length. Use dressmaker's chalk or pins and mark the skinny end. Fold your fabric so that point is the base of your straight line/folded edge-just as you will to sew it....Stick a pin straight through BOTH layers of fabric and mark the placement on both sides of the fabric. That's your end point for the wide end.

Start sewing a straight line (remember to lock your stitch at both ends!) from the skinny end mark to the wide end point, stopping and locking at the marks at the wide end. Voila! C'est finis!:thumbsup2

Hope that makes sense...it's always easier to show someone something than try and describe with words!

I'd never had one until I got my Brother 65XT! Now I could make button-holes all day long!:lmao: Before I got the auto button-holer, I'd ask my Mom to do them!
I absolutely LOVE it!:cheer2:

Won't wear the bows! Doesn't she know how cute she looks! How old is she? My DD9 will wear a bow if it is pulled back into one ponytail. She still loves the plain or embelleshed tee or tank top with a matching custom skirt. I know I probably only have a year left though because she's in fourth grade now and when she gets to middle school (6th grade) I think she would get laughed out of school for the look. Actually, she'll be in a uniform for school, but outside of school it will be too "uncool." Glad to hear about the laundry, makes me feel a little better. And I agree, I hate dirty dishes laying around.

I try not to make darts :lmao: but my grandmother taught me not to back stitch but to tie the threads once you are finished! Now we know why I only make childrens clothing!!

She can't grow up yet??? Did you forget to tell her???

So I have been in lurking mode this week, everyone's outfits are so cute! I hope everyone is doing better, sickness is going and that we get a full report from the Dis meet very soon! I am so jealous of all of you!

I have a question. Last week, I think on Etsy, I saw an embroidery machine design for peeps looking rabbits. Now its gone. Does anyone know a digitizer who does them? I know that they are bad (copywrighted and all) but I just want a little shirt for my DGD's!

Well just got off phone with my Mom and while my Father feels he doesnt need anyone, it sounds like my Mom could use the relief of having someone there to help. Keep in mind I have my own handicaps right now, but I think I can still contribute. DH doesnt seem happy that we wont be here, but hes not the type to complain either.
So Ill be there over night. there house is a split level house and my Father is down stairs but kitchen, etc is up- and I can't do stairs. sigh. They sound really happy DD2 is coming though- I think they need a cheerful kid around for 24hrs.

One more thing- I am not posting it on the DIS rent/trade boards because last time was a nightmare, I had so many ppl who wanted me to check ressies- only to tell me they needed to consult with family, etc after I made all the calls for them.

I am going to be renting 65 (or less) points and have a post on tourguidemike, but if any of you are interested let me know. ($10.50 pr pt and ressie needs to be before Aug 31- or at least 1 day of it) OKW is my home resort. PM me with questions.
