Wendy, I know I need to reply to your PM sitting in my Inbox! Sorry!

Piping- LOVE IT! never tried it. I got my package for the chinese dolls outfit from Martha Pullen the other day and it has bitty cording in there...looking at the picture though the piping really makes the outfit

thousandsofbolts.com- nope, never heard of them, but there are so many fabric places out there, if you found great prices, go for it. Order 1 item if you are worried, what would you lose? $10? For a few yards.....

Easy Fit Pants made into shorts- yup, looks totally odd when you are sewing. Heres a pic of mine on my little one- wearing about size 12/18 months then.
As you can see, i added a cuff, but you could go shorter.

Ok here is my disastrous applique! I am going slow I actually even set my machine for the slow mode so I am not tempted to go fast and it is still awful! UGH! Any extra tip any one can give especially around corners?
I may have to get busy learning to digitize so I can make the pictures I want! UGH!!!!!!!!

I am not sure why Kyle can't just pose nicely he has to ham it up and make faces every time! :confused3

I just realized I forgot to cut a string off. Oh well.

Can you tell I am not happy with it! The pants are of course Carla's easy Fit! I like how they came out!

How cute is she!!!! I can't wait to start making shorts!!!!!!
Maybe I will make a short outfit for Nikki for the summer next!

Here's my first ever Minnie set. I started with the stripwrk jumper and capris. I've been dying to try an apron, so that was next. Of course I needed a tee to take pictures with just the jeans and apron...

Fantastic Leslie! She looks so cute in it!

Okay ladies and gents,
I'm ready to post something I made this week. My MIL gave me 6, yes 6, yards of this brown fleece that I don't really care for. It's nice fleece and I'd like to use it, so I'm racking my brain trying to think af things I can do to make the fleece a little more appealing. I graduated from Colorado State University, we still live in the area, and their colors coordinate with the brown fleece. So as my brother (also an alum) would say "GO C-SUE".

Also, I just wanted to celebrate with you guys because I know you'll understand: I officially booked my WDW package today:cheer2: !!!! We are staying for 9 nights, 10 days at the Wilderness Lodge. I can't wait!
Nice use of the brown fleece! And     That is because I am excited for you about your trip! I am also green with jealousy. I am dying to stay at WL.

OK...Are you all ready for way..way too much Maddy-Bell??? Here it goes!

Wow, you put me to shame. I have finished one (OK, two of the same) outfit in the past 2 weeks. Your dd is a cutie!

minnievanmom, I meant to quote you, my youngest ds loves that shirt. Where did you find the fabric?

I think it looks fine. No one is going to be six inches from your son to see the stitching detail. The picture of him from further away looks great.

My dd saw this and asked if I could make it for her. Hmmm, something else to add to my list.

Heather - loved the Dumbo. Very original.

OMG, all that stuff would take me at least a year to make. :rotfl2:
Love everything.

Yes, it is almost 4am but DS had an accident and came in all wet. Poor guy he has done super for almost 2 weeks. Nitetime is so hard but he is learning.

I finished his TF printed shirt today with a whole lot of help from Crystal. I got very stuck on the collar. I am old school and call it under and upper collar. It is now called collar and facing. The bowling shirt is much easier but I am trying to learn how to understand the instuctions in a commercial pattern so I can make dresses for myself.

th_shirtfront-1.jpg

DS is sure he wearing this to school today but yesterday was -22. I don't think he is wearing it unless he has a long sleeve pull over under it.

My DS would love this. And I agree with whoever said to just put a long sleeve on under it. My DS is at school today with a long sleeve, kinda stretchy black shirt, (like a rash guard), under the bowling shirt that I made him.

I have yet to try applique, but I have read the tutorial and am working up to it. Anyway, if one of my first tries turned out that good I would be happy. I think it looks pretty good.

thanks It is only my and applique but I am so impatient and then come here and see some amazing stuff and I get discouraged! I maybe should tell myself I have only been really sewing since June of last yr. Still VERY impatient!!!!:confused3 :sad1:

Shannalee - I piece my appliques, I don't have an embroidery machine (yet) I find a picture or clip art that I like then I trace each piece of it onto fusible web. Then it gets ironed onto the fabrice, cut out and pieced back together like a puzzle. Then applique. Easy Peasy! Heather actually made up an awesome tutorial on it. I do know that the image I used is popular though, and you can buy the same design for embroidery machines.

So, I assume you freehanded the eyelashes and smile? It looks really good. I think it turned out VERY cute!

Ok, totally not disasterous! Did you use a tear away backing? It looks like you had a hard time with it because it puckered a little. I think if you can stabilize the shirt a little more then the applique will go smoother. KWIM?

Yes I used tear away non iron on though because my mom brought the wrong one and I haven't gotten the iron on kind yet.

Lelslie...that is adorable!!! So cute. Now I know whyI haven't been sewing, I haven't been here to get jealous of all the cute stuff. I am off to JA's now, thought I might be inspired for V Day or the Dis meet.:confused3

The One of a Kind and using 100% cotton amendments are just rumors - I don't think it's been official. And the 100% cotton is UNDYED cotton. Know anyone who uses just 100% undyed cotton for a whol outfit? It will also be illegal to knowingly GIVE these things away too. So this will effect Big Gives. It effects books, clothing, toys, jewelry, bows, bedding, furniture - everything for kids. The CSPIA needs some admendements to say the least. This bill passed with an incredible majority, yet most didn't realize the consequences such a law would bring. The link Aimee posted lat night was very imfromative!

From my understanding, each component that goes into the making of say, an outfit needs to be tested. Testing cost over $100 for each component. (Don't know the actuall number) So if I were to list a stripwork jumper that used 8 different fabrics, each fabric would need to be tested for lead. Plus the thread, buttons and elastic used. Then each component needs to be tested AGAIN for Phthalates (sp). You do the math. ;) Then every size I make would need to be tested again (batch testing). Sounds doable! Even if this were a posibility (yeah right!) I can't imaging the companies doing the testing would have time to test my 1 garment.

I just head that the digital transition (analog TV to Digital) has been pushed back because people aren't ready. Who knows maybe this will get delayed, so they can take a better look at it.

Leslie- This is really well said. Thank you.

I do hope the law is "explained" by the govt. so that boutique designers have a clearer understanding of what is going on. Leslie was one of the people that came to mind when I first posted about Boutique Felony. Jessica, Lori, Jeanne were a few other regular Disers that I was thinking of!

Good morning all! I have been working on Wall e shirts all morning long..:upsidedow If I see another shirt I think I am going to scream.
Here is a question for you guys, What kind of machine do you have? And what are the price ranges of them? :confused3

I have a Brother innovis 900d Disney embroidery/sewing machine and I LOVE IT! It lists for i believe $699. I traded in my Brother 40d for it and that one was really great too and it was $350.

I have a Brother SE-350. I think it is called the Enthusiast. If I remember correctly I paid $375 for it. It does embroidery as well as sews. I have had it going on a year now and (knock on wood) it hasn't given me any problems.

Boys, look at all our pictures. He never is just normal, well that is another subject. I like it! Just keep working on applique and it does get easier and you will get better. I just keep trying and if you son likes it, and it looks like he does, that is all matters. I think the car is cute.

She is so cute and the outfits are adorable. Everyone with girls are so lucky. But having a boy is great, just not for sewing frilly fun stuff.
