At least you had a pretty button to put on there. I think it came out great
Here is my attempt at a Marie cake:

th_IMGP3898.jpg

She loves "Kitty Marie". Her grandma bought that stuffed animal for her when we were in Disney World in the fall, and Ava still carries it everywhere.

I had some left-over fabric from the purse, so I put together a little pillowcase dress:

th_IMGP3957.jpg

Anyway, we had fun. It was a great birthday. I can't believe my little girl is two, now. Not a baby anymore :sad1:
Everything looks great! happy bday to your little girl!

The pillow case dress reminds me does any one have a good pattern for one? I looked in the book marks and they all seem to come from actual pillow cases which I can't do because I need one for Nik who is 9 and one for my niece who is 2. besides i have some fabric in mind for them!

I LOVE this dress. She looks great in it, sleepy and all. I do not sew but I love this thread so I can see all of your gorgeous creations. Then I beg my seamstress (aka Auntie) if she will make something similar. Darla has banned me from this thread. She actually answered the phone the other day "yeas I saw that cute dress, find the fabric."

What do you think are the bows to little girl?
I love the bows I say go for it! I bet se will love them!

I've gone back through and looked at all the great work. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this!

Here are some shots of outfits from our trip in 2007, when DD would allow me to make such a thing.

th_Img_0367-vi.jpg

Now at the age of 10, she is not so keen on wearing such items....Here's what she's letting me make for her this trip:
th_IMG_0090-vi.jpg

Hopefully I'll get some more made...
I found some lovely rhinestone iron ons of tink and minnie on etsy that I'm going to put on some shirts for her and I've got my bag to make...
Everything is so cute! I love that minnie dot skirt!

Okay, here goes nothing! First attempt to post a photo...

th_IMG_0373.jpg

This dress was my first smocking project. DD who is now 9 wore this dress when she was 4, 5 & 6. She wishes it would still fit! DD2 will hopefully wear it this Easter. Notice the sneakers! This is at the Easter Egg hunt at the Naval Academy and it is a run for your life event to get as many eggs as possible. The mids put out 1000's of eggs, it is so much fun!

Trust me, from what I've seen on these boards, you all can do it if I can do it!
BEAUTIFUL!
Help. How do I fix my daughter? Do I want to fix her??

We call her Auntie her Fairygodmother and up until about a year ago I truly think she thought that all she did was waive a wand and clothes appeared. She has become accustomed to having special outfits. Last year at school they had free dress day at school as long as you dressed to the theme. One of the days was black/white checkers. Unbeknown to me she asked her Auntie for something checkered 2 days before. And the next day Auntie showed up with a checkered outfit.

If you have read this far.

So I am getting her ready for a rest right now as she is going to a birthday party later today. She tells me that when she gets up she wants to put on her cute tinkerbell outfit.:confused3
I ask what cute tinkerbell outfit. You know for the party she replies.

What have I done???

She could wear it with a long sleeve top and jeans. Or should I just tell her to wear regular clothes???

Sorry for the loooooooooooong post.
She doesn't need to be fixed! As long as she isn't being fresh about it which it doesn't sound like she is at all and if Auntie loves doing it let her enjoy! Speaking as an aunt that makes her niece and nephew things all the time. I adore making things for them! I almost teared up when my almost 3 yrs old niece( who can talk like a 5 yr old!)called me the other night to how much she loved her animal pj's i made her. Apparently she wouldn't get out of her 'twirly dress' and her mom was begging her to put on her pj's and the only thing she would wear was her animal ones. That meant the world to me! So what does a god auntie do in this case? She makes her more pj's!

I showed Jennifer the fabrics I was using and the applique and she did the rest. She added the centers. She also made Belle and Ariel bows using those same centers - I love them all!!

th_IMG_1248.jpg
IMG_1326.jpg
REALLY CUTE! Hum this has got me thinking I wonder if these kinds of bows are regulation in cheerleading??? I just may have to find out because maybe I can get my 9 yr old in them if only for cheerleading! :rotfl:
Hi all...just stopping by to say a stuffed up Hi...I got Patrick's sick from last weekend. Timmy had it on Wednesday- Friday...Now it's me...YUCK! :crazy2: I want to sew...went in the sewing room twice...looked around, sat on my stool, walked out and laid on the couch...I need to clean my house. It is a true mess right now...I have no strength.

Saw so many cute outfits...Great job everybody...

Have a great..sniff...weekend!
Feel better!!!!!

I say let her wear the green top with a long sleeved shirt and jeans, but I don't think there is anything to fix. Part of being a child is believing in magic.

Thanks for the replies. It so does feel like magic. My girls love their Auntie and the treats she makes them.

I did realize I am in trouble though. This is the first party both girls have been invited to. If I put the oldest in her Tink top the youngest will want something too.

My hubby so does not get this. I am glad you all do. I feel a little bit like I am telling her there is no Santa.:guilty:
Not in trouble let her wear the outfit with a long sleeved shirt under it! Look at it this way she gets more use out of it!

Dear poohnpigletCA:
FIX HER!
Love,
auntie Fairygoodmother

Seriously, Karen, keep the magic alive. She won't always be this little, and she won't always believe. And she won't always have me to bibbidy-bobbidy-boo for her. And if you think little sister is going to lose her mind over not having anything Tink to wear, come over...I have fabric :)

or...1) go to the office supply store 2) purchase iron on printer paper 3) find Tinkerbell clip art 4) print onto the iron on paper 5) iron it onto a t-shirt

VOILA! Tinkerbell clothing. And I happen to know the office supply store is not too far from your home. :)
What a god auntie!!!!!!!!!
Finished my latest Big Give outfit this afternoon.

th_Jan_misc.jpg

I also finished my daughter's Valentine's Skirt. Hopefully she will consent to model it soon. I showed it to her and she said thanks mom. She's in a nekkid kick right now and once her clothes are off, you can't get her to get dressed again just to hang around the house. It drives me nuts. ( I probably should clarify that she will be 3 in 2 months and is in the middle of Potty Training. Nekkid means running around in a pullup)
pretty!

A lurker delurking to say hello! I love all of the outfits you all create! I do not sew - at all. I do however make iron-on t-shirts and sweatshirts and just participated in my first big give so I thought it was time to officially say hello. I usually customize others dissigns but have started trying my hand at dissigning in photoshop elements.

I also love to scrapbook - especially our Disney trips. I have heard the word Cricut around here so maybe I will not be totally out of place among you boutiquers. ;)

Anyway - I just wanted to say hi and share a photo of my first Big Give shirt and a sweatshirt I made for our family trip. Jen

cool iron ons!

Thank you so much for everyone who asked about Lydia! She is still really sick. Sicker today than yesterday. She ate two crackers today, and I got her to drink a little. She's been sleeping most of the day. She just looks so sick.
I hope se feels better! Have you taken her to the dr yet?

Kyle has lovingly passed his cold on to me! It isn't ad yet but I feel it coming on!

Hi
I come here often to look at all the great stuff you guys make. I just started to sew last fall and my DD is turning 5 in february and wants an Hannah Montana b-day party so I decided to give a try at a skirt (and after looking at all the pretty stuff you all made) here is her skirt:
th_janvier2009017.jpg

She used to be very shy and since she discover Hannah last fall she's a totally different girl...
I couldn't belive how easy it was to make this skirt, now I can wait to make some more ;)
Great job! My dd loves that pose too! I wonder if it is a hannah Montana thing???

So we went and bought fabric. I won't be doing that again with Madilynn in tow. She would have bought the store LOL

We got it all washed and folded and now I just can't make up my mind.
SDC10534-1.jpg

These are the only dots they had.
SDC10538.jpg

I was disappointed in their selection. I went to the Super JoAnn's 30 mins away. I think I would have had better luck just going to the whole-in-the-wall JoAnn's in town. I wanted to tie the lime green into the skirt somehow. Any ideas? Here's the shirt again.
Teresa I hope Lydia feels better soon
I would do the pink dots maybe with some green to match and add rik rack or ribbon.

My initial thought would be to add lime green kona cotton and add a strip of ric rac (or 3 or 4!). Ribbon is a great idea too!
that is my thoughts too! Which reminds e I need to use ric rak and ribbon more!

Well Nik is even more hooked on cheerleading! We went to my friends dd's competition yesterday and for at least 3 hours Nik was enthralled! What is even scarier is she LOVEd the flyers tricks! She is already the flyer or was the flyer last season but now se has seen all the fancy stuff ad well she wants to do it!!!!

Hi everyone! I have another question for you ever so talented ladies! My father just called and said that one of the patches on his leather jacket got caught on something and made a tear  . I think about half of the patch was ripped. He wanted to know if I knew how to fix that. I do not have any leather experience and was hoping someone here had some advice :confused3 . Thank you for your help!

just wanna let everyone know that im still alive. Havent posted much because I have been having some "problems" with one of my daughters. I still check in and quickly scan the boards...just don't have much time to post. I think of you often. Missing my "friends", Michelle :flower3:

Hi Michelle! Glad to know you are still okay! Hope your problems are resolved soon!

For those looking for dots, I got an email yesterday from Equilter.com that their dots are 10% off. Still a bit pricey, but they do have an extraordinary selection, if you are in need:
http://equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cg...32&start=1&sid=93LKiA2CqCIS13v-36109286222.97
There are four pages worth!
;)

Is it wrong to want to buy all of them? :lmao: :rotfl2: I took a look and wanted to so many of them! You had better not let Jeanne see this!

Quick question... can CarlaC's patchwork twirl skirt be made with fat quarters? Can I get enough patches cut from the fat quarter or will I be wasting a lot of fabric? I usually only have one fat quarter per fabric pattern. Does that make sense? I have so many fat quarters, it would be a great use for them.

Thanks, Jen

Thank you for your help!

I would bring the leather patch to a saddle repair shop. Leather machines are very strong and have a special needle that can hold up. I am sure they could put the patch back together. It may not look very good though as you can't sew the same when stitching on leather.

Just in case anyone was wondering about the simplicity pattern I mentioned above....I found it online. It is a Daisy Kingdom pattern #2988. It looks so adorable. I just get a little nervous when they just have a drawing on the cover and not an actual picture. I tend to get high hopes and then they don't look as nice when I complete them. I don't know if by chance anyone has used it before but if you have give me a shout. Thanks!

I don't know if this will work but here is the link:

http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=2988

I wait for the .99 cent sale and patterns and then I buy everything. I mean even if I think I like it I buy. It is very hard for me to get back to the city so I buy a lot. Beware the instructions on commercial patterns. They are vague and non exsistant at times. I keep using them so I can understand what they want me to do.

big gives outfits
I decided to take the advise (sorry forgot who suggested it) and added the water effect to the shirt

I added this top for Megan... (I know shamu was not on her list of favorites but I thought that for the sea-world trip she could use it)

2008_01230001.jpg

I usually like to have at least two outfits per child but I procrastinated too much with this give and really had no time:upsidedow so I decided to make extra iron on t shirts for the kids...

MENTAL NOTE: USE MIRROR IMAGE WHEN DOING IRON-ON TRANSFERS:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I will tell you that I could have sewn at least two, three outfits in the same time that It took me to do the appliques and iron-ons !!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Linnette, I am always happy to see you post. The outfits are just beautiful and you are so kind to make these for the kids. I have never done an iron on but believe me I have notes by the computer for the day I try it. Print backwards. They look great.

MaidMarion those are all too cute. I love them all especially that last one with the pink and brown. Those are one of my favorite color combinations.

Hi everyone! I just returned from Joanne Fabrics and bought some adorable polka dot fabric. My DD5 would like one of those "Minnie" sundresses to wear to Disney in May. I was hoping I could get some pattern ideas from the Disney Boutique ladies.

I tried to search the link on the first page but I didn't see anything similar to those in these postings.

I saw an adorable simplicity pattern but it was around $13. so I passed. It was a tank top looking sundress with an overskirt that had two bowties on each side with a contrasting underskirt. If I can't find anything else I will just watch for a pattern sale and pick it up.

Thanks for your help ladies and I look forward to hearing your ideas!

I would go with Carla's Simply Sweet pattern too. It's very versatile.

I am so sorry that Lydia is sick. I hope she starts feeling better soon. Kirsten was running a fever since last Sunday, and today is the first day that she is fever free. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday, and they did a flu test and it was positive...and including her, they had nine kids with positive flu test that morning!

Thank you, she is doing much better today. Her fever is down to around 99 now. I hope Kirsten gets better soon! :grouphug:

Lydia - Feel real better soon!!!!!!

Thank you!

These are adorable!!! I love them! Thanks Linnette!

I hope all of these sick babies get better soon!! Nothing worse than sick babies!

Also, I was at JoAnn's yesterday -didn't really find anything that screamed out my name - but I did see that
pink argyle scotty dog fabric
that someone posted a while back. It seems to me, someone was looking for it too. I can't remember who or when and I can't find the reference BUT if you need it, let me know. I can probably make another run down in the next week. They had two bolts of it out.

I think that was Becky (mamatodakiz) that wanted that.

Is this the Simply Sweet pattern? Crystal I lOVE THIS!!!!
Now I really MUST get that pooh toile! I think I'll call WalMart tomorrow. What do you think the odds are DH will go buy it for me? slim and none, I will have to have a covert operation "obtain Pooh fabric" or OPF!!!:cool1: -see here I am wearing my shades.

Okay- Ladies WHAT is with my luck lately?? This morning, Megan (2) wakes up at 6am (hubby gets her sat mornings) cranky and crying. He tells me later she was hot, but shivering. But then, by 10 she seems improved, I move forward with getting a babysitter so we can go see InkHeart. I check with him at 3pm and he says, yeah, we can still go, she's just quiet, but otherwise not worth cancelling our plans. I bring Jasper, my big chocolate lab who is for adoption to his new foster home and return at 5pm. Take her temp at 5:30 (1 hour before sitter is due) and she has a temp of 103.93!!!!
So we call and cancel.

Teresa- I sure hope Lydia is feeling better soon, nothing less fun than a sick child. Get well soon Lydia!!! I love seeing your smiling face while you pose with pretty outfits on!!!:cheer2:
Lydia I searched and found this little fairy to bring you pixie dust!!
tinkerbell-flower.jpg

Just so everyone knows, we only ban the Wish families from the Big Give board during their Give, there are many there before and after their trips.

Thank you so much for the little Tink! You should have seen Lydia's smile!!!!! I have read her all the nice things everyone's been posting and she really loves it!

I hope your daughter feels better real soon! Poor baby.

That is awful about that poor dog, it's a good thing you got him out of there!

MaidMarion, your dd is so cute and you did a great job on all of those customs!!

I've had a productive weekend - 5 pairs of Easy Fits and one Feliz! I didn't find the Feilz too difficult, especially with the Trillium blog sew-along, but it definitely isn't one that you can just "whip up" real quick!

GORGEOUS! I think I need to try this pattern!

I really love this!!!! Was it hard to make??

I enjoy being part of the big gives too - I have been fortunate and have received thank you notes for each one I have participated in. When you think about the kids, the magic the big wish gives them, its awesome. In my familiy's case, we may be on the other end at some time too! Daniel had a good week this week - walked into the therapy department from the lobby this week (with his walker)! Still slow to speak though - ugh!! Frustrating for him! Poor Guy!

Back to the laundry and a winter mickey simply sweet for hannah!!:laundy:
I'm so happy that Daniel had a good week.:grouphug:

Lori that is very pretty. I need to make one for Jenna. Linnette made her one. I will post pics when she gets back home.

Megan said, "Holy Moly that is big ric rac!" It is gorgeous and I am in love with that heart fabric!

Maid Marian, thank you for sharing. I too love the pink and brown. That harlequin fabric is so pretty.
