I love all the cute stuff posted in the last few days, it has taken a while to catch up working 3 12 hour shifts in the last 4 days leaves little time for playing on the internet :confused3 and you guys don't help by posting many, many pages a day to play catch up with.

I get to make my ADR's for our trip on Sunday. Unfortunately we will be skiing so I will have to make them from our hotel room (can't forget the cell phone charger!) so the girls will find out we are going for sure. They have a good idea after me making them outfits, but don't know for sure. I asked dh if we could tell them and he wanted to tourment them some more first. MEN!!!!!!!

Emily

Hey all! I haven't had a chance to do much but skim this week, but I'm loving all this cute stuff!!!

Shannon got me pondering sashes last week, so I've been experimenting:

In the front, it is regular 2" wide belt...
springsash2.jpg

In the back, it is a big full BOW!
springsash1.jpg

And (mostly because the picture is so cute) here is the elongated portrait peasant without the sash...
springsash3.jpg

To make the bow, the sash has to have some shape to it. I was thinking of making a little freebie pattern out of it, but wanted to get feedback here first. Is the belt part wide enough? Is the bow too big? Should I do a few different sized bows? The belt part is based on waist measurement, so it should fit all sizes.

Thanks, all :goodvibes !
I love this outfit Carla. I really like the sash and think a few options would be very cool. Sending you a PM.

Oh yeah, that reminds me- I lived in Texas too!
Dallas. Off 75. I worked at The Fairmont Hotel doing a management training program there. I had the worst bloody noses when I was there!
I had about 10 bullet holes in my car (just mere hours after I bought it- used, but my first car) Some idiots used it for target practice. "Welcome to TEXAS"
LOL!!
Thats where I started fostering- for Dallas Ft Worth Labrador Ret. Club Rescue.

I lived in Texas too! I was born there when my dad was in the Air Force in Laredo. I haven't been back since, but Texas holds a place in my heart!

Shannon, my DH is Chinese and all we do is go to Panda Express. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But when the kids were younger, its was just at a local Chinese restaurant and the kids all got red envelopes! So looks like you are doing the right things!

Sue

I'm so glad to hear this! I'm glad to know I'm not getting it all wrong! :rotfl:
Thanks for the assurance, Sue!

I just finished these pj's....I only bought one yard of each, so the tops are completely made up out of my imagination, using what was left!

The girls are thrilled, and can't wait to wear them at Disney in April!

My crazy 10 year old....this is a cheetah girls fabric, you can't really see the emblem...

My six year old...she decided to keep a sweater on underneath, since it's -15 here today!:lmao:

The sash is really cute but my oldest thinks she's too old for something like that and my tomboy wouldn't be caught dead in it!:rotfl: I can't wait to try out the elongated portrait peasant though!

I am all caught up now but way behind to multi-quote seperately

Love all the outfits posted, Thanks for all the prayers and pm's You guys all rock !

Everything looks so great! I really love Logan's shirt.

What a great idea!! I Love these outfits! :thumbsup2 It inspired me to go through my linen closet & I found a couple of older Pooh & Tigger pillowcases that I don't have the sheets for anymore & I also found some Mickey & Pluto, Pooh & Tigger & Pumba & Simba fabric panels in my bin of fabric that were supposed to be to make pillows a few years ago...now, I've got a new & more fun use for them! :rotfl:

I'd love to see more outfits you girls have made out of pillowcases! :thumbsup2
Not a pillow case but I used a craft panel meant to be a pillow for this Nemo outfit. I got it at WalMart-they had lots of other cute ones too.

I love the sash! That big bow in the back is darling. I loved the fabrics you used, and the hat is the perfect "topper' to the set! I also liked where someone showed a peasant top with no sash in the front, but tied in the back. Both cute ideas that I could see using!

Oh...this is sooo off topic....but does anybody else have the Scene it! Disney game? If you don't....get it! Katie got it for Christmas and we finally played it last night...it was so much fun!

Ooohh Oooh. :wave2: We got that game for Christmas from my inlaws, but haven't played it yet. I'm glad to hear it's great! We'll have to break it out soon. And how far off topic can it be...it is the DISboards :earsboy:

Carla - I think the options are always a nice touch if not too much trouble. I was wondering - has anyone ever tried to do the simply sweet halter bodice but with more of an X back instead of open? Im not one for a totally open back, but do love the way the front of the bodice fits,,,,,do you think it would work?

Steph - thanks for the lettuce tip!! Hope your shoulder feels better soon!!!

Love the Cheetah and Fairy PJ's!!!! And everything else that has been created lately!!!! Its so much fun to share with everyone. I really dont think I would sew as much - or at all without all you guys - you are all so talented and inspiring!!! :grouphug:

Ah I miss those days in GA!

Any one know of a tutorial on installing and using a walking foot???
I got one for Christmas and I am trying to use it and it isn't working at all! my needle keeps breaking.
[/I][/B]
I hope we get one of those days soon they are so fun. We had a little dusting last night. Abby kept asking me "do you think they will cancel school?" No Dear we need a little more snow than that.:lmao:
It is a foot attachment that actually walks and is supposed to help with sewing knits and hard to sew fabrics. It helps to make them not shift. At least that is my understanding! LOL My mom got it for my for Christmas!

!

I got one for Christmas too. I want to try it out but I am scared I will hurt my machine. I have a Singer machine.:scratchin

Has anyone out there used one?

Whew, anyone ever just have one of those times when you just cant seem to sew???:rotfl2: I was really stinkin tonight! Im making a round neck top for Hannah, and I sewed the collar on backwards - TWICE!!!! so at that point I called it a night!!!

Here is the simply sweet I made Baby Emily - :rotfl2: it is by far not perfect, not sure what happened where, but do you think its good enough to give to her? I've never sewed for her before,,,,,,,

Great outfits! They have some serious 'tude. The purple skirt is very pretty.

I'm so glad to hear this! I'm glad to know I'm not getting it all wrong! :rotfl:
Thanks for the assurance, Sue!

I'm so sorry, I hope it wasn't my post that made you feel this way! We only do the big dinner and everything because my MIL looooves to cook and looks for any excuse to do so. The big dinner and potstickers certainly aren't a necessity.

Needed a place to shout, no one gets it here. For the first time ever:

I MADE TWO BUTTON HOLES!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!

Thanks for the tutorials!!!

Wow, if that's by far not perfect, I must be an awful seamtstress. I can't even begin to see what's wrong with it. I think it's adorable!

OH NO! Absolutely not! I was really glad to hear that your celebration pretty much involves food. I can do food! I'm really grateful for your input. It's important for me for my daughter to have exposure to the Chinese culture, and I want it to be right. So, THANKS! AND, I think I'm gonna pick up some pot stickers this year.

Last year, we went to a Chinese culture show that was in Dallas. Our entire family enjoyed it. It was attended by a very large population of Asians. They all doted on AbbyGrace, and it was so nice to be a part of the cultural experience that evening. Since we were in Dallas, we are also able to have dinner at PF Chang's. YUMMO!

You are too kind, lol, lets just say the ribbon wasnt part of the original plan, neither was the jumbo rick rack - they were each added to cover lets just say boo boo's?????:rotfl2: and somehow the side seam ended up a bit on the front!!!! AHHHHHHH not sure how that came to be????

That is wonderful. I know how excited I was when I actually had button holes that looked like button holes.

Wendy-I don't know how I lost your pic, but I did want to say that the dress is adorable and Emily is very lucky to be getting it.:thumbsup2 I like the Ric Rack and ribbon accents even though you said that they were just added to hide stuff.
