Ooooh! Love that fabric! Someone needs to make a dress out of this and take a pic in a field of bluebonnets!!! ;)

I definately plan to. I'm trying to figure out excatly what type of dress I want to make to best showcase this fabric. I'm hoping we get a good Bluebonnet season this year. We had so much rain last year, that the bluebonnets just weren't what they should be.

Thank you so much for the compliments. :)

I am just not 100% on the patchwork twirl dress. It is cute and my DD loves it so that is good. They are not super hard to make but you ruffle forever and day. LOL The bottom ruffle is 360 inches. I think it will grow on me. We are having Cruella Deville bling made. DD has cute polka dot shoes and cute Cruella bows so I think it will be fun.

I actually am the one who coined the term Frankenpattern. It came from the vacuum cleaner we had growing up. My father called it Frankenvac because it was so many vacuums combined. The tops are patterns I made myself. A few dresses have parts of Carla's dresses. Her patterns are fab! I love them because they are so thorough and make sewing easy for everyone. I also like that she gives you a base to let your creativity spring from.

I also used a pattern called the Insa for the Evil Queen skirt. It is my second favorite skirt pattern. I love it and have made a bunch so far. The skirt looks nice with or without pettiskirts. We have too too too many pettiskirts. It is a long story but . . . we love them. I have Belle Ame, Sam's and Oopsy Daisy. I think Teresa may be able to help with info about Sam's.

Here are the girls Minnie Mouse Pettiskirts that Santa brought. I hate the shirts and I am going to redo with a "real" shirt and not a tee. It works out because they can have another cute tee to wear around the hotel.

Here is Carla's super cute flounce- (I am not finished the shirt. If anyone knows where to get white tanks please let me know!)

I know I posted this on the old thread. Here is DD2 101 outfit. I made the skirt and Lori did the top. It was a huge hit Christmas morning! Thanks again Lori!!!!

I need guidence, I am thinking I need a hoop to stablize the tee's for my Blingy Minnie outlines. What would you ladies reccommend? I know if I try to free hand them they will end up wonky.:rotfl:

Tyler, Wrestled his last tournament this weekend :cheer2: He didnt place but we are still very proud, He was chosen to represent the 80lb boys on our team.

He has already signed up for his next sport :rotfl2: Any guesses what it could be?

I Love that Tank with the Satin Bow it is too cute.

I would probably be okay with sharing the design if I made that Walt and Mickey design as long as it was just here. I wouldn't want any copyright people trying to come after me. I share my designs on sewforum.com sometimes. I mostly keep them to myself since I digitize characters and things like that. They are really strict about that.

Oooooh! That minnie petti is fab!!! What brand is that? What kind of fabric is on the top layer? Is it still chiffon? I actually ordered a Sams from a group buy on yahoo, but it isn't getting here until April. I don't think I can wait. Feliz needs a petti I think! I'm going to pm Teresa.. ty for the info.
I didn't realize that skirt was Insa. I think I need that one now too!
I love the flouncy and the tank. Do you not like the tank? I think it is adorable. Did you just make the bow and then tack it down or is it appliqued all the way around?
I have gotten some tanks at Target before. I am looking for a rib knit tank so I can smock the ribs(like they do on socks) and can't find any anywhere.

I need guidence, I am thinking I need a hoop to stablize the tee's for my Blingy Minnie outlines. What would you ladies reccommend? I know if I try to free hand them they will end up wonky.:rotfl:

T-shirts need cut away stabilizer. If it is a thin shirt I use poly mesh. I've been partial to using fusible polymesh lately. It is just a way to make sure you have no puckers. When I do onesies I hoop non fusible poly mesh and use 505 spray to hold it onto the stabilizer instead of hooping the onesie. If it is a big shirt I hoop the shirt. It helps if you draw a grid on there to make sure it is centered, and then line it up in your hoop. It really is a pain. lol
Just don't pull the shirt too tight so you don't get puckers!
Congrats on the wrestling match. You must be proud of Tyler!

I just finished these pj's....I only bought one yard of each, so the tops are completely made up out of my imagination, using what was left!

The girls are thrilled, and can't wait to wear them at Disney in April!

My crazy 10 year old....this is a cheetah girls fabric, you can't really see the emblem...

th_100_0274.jpg

My six year old...she decided to keep a sweater on underneath, since it's -15 here today!:lmao:

Great job! Your girls look like they love them!

I hope we get one of those days soon they are so fun. We had a little dusting last night. Abby kept asking me "do you think they will cancel school?" No Dear we need a little more snow than that.:lmao:

I got one for Christmas too. I want to try it out but I am scared I will hurt my machine. I have a Singer machine.:scratchin

Has anyone out there used one?
LOL I figure as log as you got the right kind you would be ok??

Whew, anyone ever just have one of those times when you just cant seem to sew???:rotfl2: I was really stinkin tonight! Im making a round neck top for Hannah, and I sewed the collar on backwards - TWICE!!!! so at that point I called it a night!!!

Here is the simply sweet I made Baby Emily - :rotfl2: it is by far not perfect, not sure what happened where, but do you think its good enough to give to her? I've never sewed for her before,,,,,,,
th_100_0613.jpg
Beautiful! If that is bad then I am never posting one of my outfits again!

Needed a place to shout, no one gets it here. For the first time ever:

I MADE TWO BUTTON HOLES!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!

Thanks for the tutorials!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: Great job!!!!

I just got through all 66 pages! I am not even going back to the old thread. We had a nasty nasty computer virus. We went out our computer for 38 days. I have been really busy sewing for out upcoming trip. My older DD did an impromptu photo shoot. She is missing all of her bows, cute shoes and bling but her is a sneak peak of some outfits. Jennwdw is making some really cute new bows for us. I cannot wait to get them. Bowmail is always the best.

Jeanne- As long as you send her back safely I have a Stepsister for you. :)

Here is the Evil Queen and DD2 is Ursula.

Picture256.jpg

I still have a lot more to share- Brier Rose, Working Girl Cindy, Incredibles, Donald and Daisy, Pocahontas, Pop Century and a Minnie pettiskirt set.
Everything is gorgeous! The evil Queen is my fav though!

You know what I have never paid any attention to my seam allowance and it always turns out great. I usually just line my presser foot up to the edge of the fabric and that becomes my seam allowance. :rotfl:

I do the same :rotfl2:
I do too! Great minds think alike;)

Toadstool-
I was actually coming here this am to ask about digitizing! I am probably jumping way ahead of myself since I just got my machine last week:rotfl2: What soft ware should I use? how hard is it?
I found this picture of the Haunted Mansion and it is one of my kids FAV rides ever and I would love to digitize it or applique it but since I am now i n love with my embroidery machine I am liking the idea of digitizing it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I thought I was just being a bad/lazy seamstress by using the foot as a guide for Seam allowances, but it turns out that I'm just like everybody else. :lmao:

I jsut always assumed the end of the foot wa 1/4 inch. Even when I use commercial patterns I tend to do 1/4 inch!

Disney Scene It. - we got it for Christmas and the kids love it. We played with my parents and my dad was clueless though. It is not for people that don't have young ones.

Walking foot - I have one and use it often. Basically it is just another pair of feed dogs on top of the material. It walks the top layer of material through at the same rate as the bottom material. Keeps things lined up. It should not hurt any machine, as it is just another foot.

1/4 inch seam - if you are really concerned about keeing the 1/4 inch seam you could buy a 1/4 inch foot. A lot of quilters use them because having an exact seam allowance is necessary for getting corners to match up as you piece things.

Of course it is good enough to give. I think the ribbon etc. makes the outfit, I never know how to accessorize and envy you who do such a great job.

More gorgeous stuff.

OH NO! Absolutely not! I was really glad to hear that your celebration pretty much involves food. I can do food! I'm really grateful for your input. It's important for me for my daughter to have exposure to the Chinese culture, and I want it to be right. So, THANKS! AND, I think I'm gonna pick up some pot stickers this year.

Last year, we went to a Chinese culture show that was in Dallas. Our entire family enjoyed it. It was attended by a very large population of Asians. They all doted on AbbyGrace, and it was so nice to be a part of the cultural experience that evening. Since we were in Dallas, we are also able to have dinner at PF Chang's. YUMMO!

I am Chinese as well, and I have to say that growing up, our celebration involves a lot of food and eating...usually on Chinese new Year's Eve. We always have noodles (it represents long life..we also have noodles for birthdays as well), whole fish and whole chicken (represents abundance and prosperity). We also set off firecrackers at midnight to welcome the New Year...then start the morning off with new clothes and new shoes. Then, we eat and eat some more and celebrate for 15 days.

Have fun celebrating with Abby Grace! Dh and I love PF Chang's!

got a letter home from the school yesterday that they are doing an Art and Craft Auction at our annual Spaghetti supper next month. They are looking for the kids to make stuff for a silent auction. My boys are excited as this means Tyler (7) gets to make another rag quilt, and Liam (11) is going to try his hand at making a pair of pyjama bottoms with Carla's easy fit pattern. I will be doing lots teaching this weekend. Please pray for patience for me.;)

Also, I have some extra Pokemon flannette at home so I was thinking of making a pair of pyjamas with it and some matching red with Carla's Easy fit pattern with cuffs and the bowling shirt pattern. For anyone who has used the bowling shirt for pyjamas, Did you line it? do you think short sleeves are OK? I have made one bowling shirt, but this will only be my second, so all opinions are welcome.

This is VERY helpful! I'd never heard the new clothes and new shoes thing. I'll have to start that tradition as well. We seem to eat a lot of noodles too. It's just become such a part of our life that I didn't even think to mention it. I didn't realize the meaning of whole fish and whole chicken either. I'll have to keep that in mind! Thanks so much!

GYMBO SHOPPERS!
Does anyone need gymbucks? They're good through the 25th. I have $75 worth that I'm just not going to use. If you can use them, I'll give them to the first person that PMs me.

Short sleeves would be good and no I wouldn't line it, unless you get really cold nights. Those Pj's sounds cute.

It is a Oopsy Daisy. It is all chiffon and super soft. The Feliz looks really cute with a pettiskirt. I do love the tank top. It is from Gymboree last season. I am planning on doing tees with the Pop Century logo.

I like Old Navy's tanks a lot. It if hard to find tanks this time of year in Maryland.

I know this is really off topic, but I have to ask. I have been a long time lurker on these threads. I have started to sew b/c I have just loved everything I have seen on here. The question is has anyone gone the week of memorial day? I want to go May 22-29 b/c ds will be four on the 26th. Is that a really bad idea? I am asking here b/c it seems like everyone here is a seasoned veteran at WDW. This will be our first trip and I just thought it would be awesome for ds birthday. Any suggestions???
