I finished my biggive outfit for Avy.
th_Jan_misc014-1.jpg

I bought the shirt and then made the skirt to go with it. I hope she likes it. I forgot to take off the sticker when I took the picture. Oops.
I found this material at a small local fabric shop and fell in love with it.

I am going to make an outfit for Megan for Texas Independance Day. I can't wait.

More pictures in a few minutes.
I love that Texas fabric. That is very pretty. That skirt you made is just too adorable. Avy will be very happy with it I'm sure.

And just some other recent material purchases.

Most likely for our trip to the Acquarium of the Pacific in May

Some random Disney Fabric

And here is my sewing storage. Its full of material and patterns and stuff. I need to learn to use that serger sitting on top. I'm scared.

And I finished this baby bunting/sleep sac for my new nephew.

More proof that Texas is smaller than its square footage!! :rotfl2:

Here goes, I am sure more will chime in with these city names:

My FIL is an Aggie, Corp Commander when he was here. Back before they even let girls in :) My husband went to fire school here and applied for Bryan on his graduation day. He was hired, so we moved here from San Angelo (where his family lives now). However, he is actually from Greenville and I am from Princeton. (North East Texas) We met in Commerce at college.

I work for the A&M system part-time and we are big Aggie fans. It's hard not to be when you live here. There is such a HUGE spirit and support for the team. It is a sea of maroon.

Another Texan and Aggie here!! Let's see... I've lived in San Antonio (still have family there), Hebronville, Corpus Christi, Taft, Missouri City, Houston, College Station, Bryan, and Sugar Land.

LOVE IT!! I hadn't even thought about an outfit for Texas Independance Day. Of course I need to get started on Valentine's Day, Rodeo, and St Patrick's Day outfits.

Okay, now these I really DID work on, slave over even...

Can you tell what this is supposed to be? This is my big Walt fan

I bought Jayden this hoodie and she loved it so much I made her a shirt to match. It involved cramming a hoodie into my scanner/copier...

th_DSCN3567-1.jpg

th_DSCN3569-1.jpg

Wow! that silouhet is awesome! Fantastic! And I love the t-shirt...where did you get that hoodie?

I made this today! It's for my DD to wear on Chinese New Year. It's not quite complete. The pattern calls for a ribbon tie closure. I'm not sure that I like the idea of that. I'm afraid that it'll fall off if it comes untied. I'm thinking of adding a button closure that is covered with a big sash bow. OR a frog type closure. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

OMG! This is gorgeous. I love it!

Does anyone know if your purchase points expire with YMCT?
I have purchased a bunch of things from them, but it seems that my account says 0 points now- and it used to have some there- do they expire??
Nevermind, for whatever reason once I clicked on the 0 points it changed and said I have 88.

I am a little nervous to post my latest with all of the greatness that has been posted on this thread already. You guys are really outdoing yourselves. I cannot wait to see some of these in person.

Here is what I worked on this weekend. the model was less than cooperative (and I found that stupid string hanging down after I took pictures). The pants look wonky in the first picture, but they aren't- the model was ummm asking when I would get the candy I promised. . .

I probably wouldn't have thought of it either if I hadn't found that material. I was planning on doing something for Rodeo, but this will probably replace it. I don't think I'll manage a St. Patty's Day outfit, but since my new sewing machine is so easy to work with, I might find time afterall.

Oh yeah, that reminds me- I lived in Texas too!
Dallas. Off 75. I worked at The Fairmont Hotel doing a management training program there. I had the worst bloody noses when I was there!
I had about 10 bullet holes in my car (just mere hours after I bought it- used, but my first car) Some idiots used it for target practice. "Welcome to TEXAS"
LOL!!
Thats where I started fostering- for Dallas Ft Worth Labrador Ret. Club Rescue.

What pattern is this? Not that I can tackle anything else, but I just love the wrap style. Maybe when Megan is bigger. I also really love this fabric!!

have you seen this?
9741b9956226d06e757fb9bc6a9f6062.jpg

Sorry, I missed this earlier. I HAVE seen that Martha Pullen - I would LOVE to own it! I've never tried to smock - it's very intimidating to me. SO, I decided to use it as inspiration...

Thank you ALL so much for the supportive comments and PMs- it really does help!!!

I went and saw one of my Docs today and I have been told- no more large stores, no grocery shopping, malls, etc, not walking, etc and basically rest, rest, rest in order to keep pain to a minimum, pubic bone is wreaking havoc on everything from my tailbone to my neck, spine, hips. etc...and they want me back on Friday. I get adjusted and that helps some. I am 22 weeks now and it seems like May 25th is a long way off.

Hi there
I really know how awful that pain is! You have my sympathy!
I had terrible pubic symphasis joint pain in all my pregnancies but this last was the worst. I found a pregnancy cradle really helped a lot. It lifted some of the pressure and reduced my pain. It really was worth every penny.

I hope this may help!

Strawberry Shortcake is really cute! I used to love her and had all the dolls when I was little! C did a great job modeling!

Oh, I love the fabrics for the aprons! I have yet to make Dallas one and can't decide what fabric I want. I would prefer for it to be a fun lasting one, he wants Wall E. I don't even know why he likes Wall E so much!

The doggie is so cute! Just the type I like!

Revrob! I missed quoting your dress but it is adorable! I have a bit of that fabric but not sure what I'll do with it. I just loved it when i saw it!

Do you use the color sheet as a template and piece it out with different colors of fabric??

Thanks, that will be my next project, I will def check in for help.

No, mine was much bigger. Yours came out so cute!!! Here is a pic of mine. Maybe someone has used it??

Tink.jpg

I think someone already answered for me - I cut Tink out of the pillowcase and fused her to my bodice piece, then appliqued her. It was one of my first big appliques. The Pillowcse was from Kmart and I think they still carry it.

The matching mickey polos are really fun. Your family will look sharp. I love the walt applique. You should frame it when he's done wearing it. The mickey pirate is cute, too. That's too funny -- cramming the hoody into the scanner.

Do you have any cute Star Wars ideas for me? Maybe she needs a storm trooper shirt :rotfl2: she can be the family villain.

One of my favorite shirts at DHS is the Storm Trooper eating a mickey bar. I guess you probably couldn't copy merchandiser they sell in the parks, though...

This is gorgeous! I love the fabris. My DH is Chinese, so we celebrate Chinese New Year, too.

This is so fun. Great material!

That looks so snuggly!

These are all great! I love all the old toys making a come-back. I loved Strawberry Shortcake, too, as a kid. The dress looks wonderful.

I think that is the pillowcase I used for this:
th_100_4978.jpg

Wasn't that the dress she was wearing when I was talking to her on the phone?

Here are some shirts I worked REALLY hard on! :rotfl2: They are for DH, myself, and 2 each for the boys. I bought some shirts on clearance at Walmart and got my shirt at Old Navy and ironed on the Mickey patches I got on :wizard:

I love the shirts!!! So cute!!! And the Mickey and Walt shirt, is so original! I love it!

I had to laugh at the thought of you cramming that hoodie into your scanner!! But, it sure did make for a cute applique!!!

The hormone shot he was supposed to get was post poned by the fill in Dr and he is being given an oral hormone at the moment, and will probably have to wait for his Doc to return next week to get the shot. The pain is moving now, not just his spine, but his leg, etc and the pain meds are wearing off sooner than he would expect.

Im still an emotional roller coaster. I wanted to sew in the worst way this morning to get my mind off my Dad and of course I could not find the power cord to my machine, I finally found it, but wore myself out looking for it, I spent the afternoon in bed, sleeping and getting up to pee. Bah! I love this baby inside me, but I really hate this pregnancy.

On a brighter note- I am very excited to finally get adult sized bedroom furniture- or at least chest of drawers, 2- one for me and one for DH, my DD2 is enheriting the dresser I have had since I was 3!!! They are arriving tomorrow. Hooray! So I really hope to be able to tackle my Feliz tomorrow morning. I'm putting my grumpy self to bed by no later than 10 tonight.:sad2:

Oh honey, you have so much going on right now! :grouphug:

That is so pretty!

I'm not a regular poster on the DIS, but I lurk a lot. I don't sew (just bought myself a machine and I'm going to try to self teach) but I can tell that you ladies put some hard work into your stuff, and it is all WONDERFUL! I aspire to be sewing half as good as you ladies in about, 5 years? :rotfl:

One can hope anyway!
Thanks for all the inspiration!
Julie

:Welcome: do you own a sewing machine yet?

I think I may have run all of my questions together. Let me try again.

On the using color pages for appliques: How exactly do you do that??

Yes ma'am this is Morgan's "talking to Ms. Teresa on the phone" dress.

We "dress" for all occasions!

Well, that is one of my favorite dresses then!

I think I may have run all of my questions together. Let me try again.

On the using color pages for appliques: How exactly do you do that??

You need to go to Heather's Applique tutorial! The link is in the bookmarks (click on the picture of me with my first sewing machine or check the first post)

Or, I could just post the link for you: http://disboutique.blogspot.com/2008/04/bestest-applique-tutorial.html

I don't think I posted this near halloween, but this is my DGD 2 halloweens ago!

Might have to steal this idea for DD9. She loves pirates and Minnie.

Did you just cut the storm trooper out and iron it on or is it sewn on? I have so much trouble with appliques on t-shirts, would love some advise.

What a beautiful dress! I just went on YCMT and added it to my wishlist.

Thanks, Jen

Still trying to figure out the multi-quote thing. I messed it up a little bit in my previous message. :confused3

I'm looking for a good resource for making hairbows. There are so many to choose from on YCMT. Does anyone have one that they love and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks, Jen
