(Thanks, Fayth, for modeling :) )

Photos were taken before the dress was ironed. My husband says the bow makes the outfit. I covered a headband in acetate ribbon and hot glued the bow to the top of the headband.
this is great becca is going to love it, i hope her mom takes some video for us when she meets drizella i cant wait for her reaction

So I just caught up on everyone's posts, phew! Wow, everything is so beautiful. So I ordered my ruffler yesterday and then spent a ton more on fabrics I couldn't resist. I swear its an addiction.

DD2 loves the Little Mermaid so I started cutting out a dress from some LM fabric I bought awhile ago using an Indygo Junction pattern. As I was cutting I started to feel pretty sick and before I knew it was running a fever and feeling fluish. I have been in bed for last 32 hours. Getting sick is one thing but I'm due with our 4th baby on Wednesday. I cannot imagine going into labor with the flu. Now, DS and DH are starting to cough and feel lousy. Perfect timing!

Thanks for everyone's continued inspirations, Jen

Praying everyone gets better before the baby comes. Pixie dust for your labor, i have 4 little ones also, #4 was born 20 min after arriving at the hospital =)

Ok totally not clothing but I made some progress this weekend. I wanted to make a baby quilt for a couple at our church having their first. They are really young and have only been married for a year or so so they're still just starting out. I think they're 22 or so...anyway, I got to start it Friday, got it finished yesterday:
th_poohquilt1.jpg

I'm gonna have to make some of those skirts for my DD. She hates wearing pants. Maybe once I clear out a couple of projects in my sewing room my DH won't cringe if he sees me start something new.
That is beautiful.

O
Tessa's father/daughter dance is on the 13th, too. I hadn't thought about it being Friday the 13th!
I meant to comment on the Friday the 13th yesterday but I forgot ! Friday the 13th is a great day! George and I where actually married on a friday the 13!:thumbsup2 And as much as he ticked me off a few weeks ago we've lasted almost 15 yrs married. So I love the Friday the 13ths!

Come early with the kids. If we stayed another night we would have to do it off-site. We will be using a 40% off code that is only good for Oct 25-31 . But Jenna and I would love to meet you and the kids.:thumbsup2
We just might! Remind me in a few months that you will be there when I start talking about booking my tix! If we stayed either before or after it would probably be off site too since we already have our DVC booked from Nov 1-7.

here is clints big give shirt.

cute!

I can't agree more about CarlaC's patterns. I use them all the time!
I don't think I have picked up a commercial pattern in a couple of years now, except for the Farbenmix ones.
Speaking of Carla's patterns. I just finished this Simply Sweet dress for our trip. Four down, a couple of more to go!
I also used the quilting block tutorial on YCMT's blog to add the hem detail.
th_Disneyoutfits2009002-2.jpg

No model today, she is too busy playing with her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stuff to give me any free time!:rotfl:
Adorable! So creative!!!!

Ok with all this talk about the Simply sweet pattern what size does it go up to? Nik needs a 7 or an 8 in most of Carla's patterns and I usually just have to make them longer. I just can't justify spending the $10 if it doesn't go up at least one size higher then she is... I can totally see that as a cute summer dress pattern for her!

To the person thinking of getting a bundle -

you may eventually want all the patterns -lol = but is there a bundle with 2 of them in it? the other day I asked about one of the bundles with a pattern I already had, and they said if I emailed Sherri, I could swap out the other pattern - so maybe they would!! doesnt hurt to ask!!

Just finished the Rumba - its pretty cute! Now on to the simply sweet top to match.....its with the Valentines animal print from Joanns....
Post pics please! i really want to see the Rumba! I think I might use this embroidered denim i got for a rumba skirt for Nik. i can't decide...

Sigh! I wish I was working on a Simply Sweet dress today! I have been working on a mccalls pattern for a diaper bag and it has been the pattern from H-E double hockey sticks for sure! I even went to Joanns in desperation and the cutting table ladies could not help me. I called my mom twice to whine about it and I almost cried when I sewed the lining in inside out! But it's done! It is not perfect and I am a little stressed out about that because it's for a friend's daughter.

th_IMG_1069.jpg

Then when I finally finished today I wanted to do something fun. I get so irritated that they don't have any cute girly sports team stuff so I took a 2xl t-shirt and cut it down to make a little dress. I think next time I will put elastic in th sleeves to be even girlier. Megan was excited about it until DH made her put on a long sleeved shirt underneath because they are going to out to watch the Steelers game.

th_IMG_1068.jpg
what is wrong with it it is so cute!

Love the Rays dress! I really like the scalloped edges.
Steph, I love Megan's sporty dress! So cute!

Here is Lily's Pooh dress I made a few days ago. I'm not so sure I love the pants. They need a pink ruffle to coordinate with the top/dress. Maybe it will be sooooo warm in Florida she will need shorts under instead. :thumbsup2 I CASEd this a bit from something I saw on here 100 years ago. And yes, she does have a big scratch under her right eye. She was lying on my bedroom floor yesterday when Luke tripped on her head :confused3

th_DSCN3553-1.jpg
Too cute!
Poor Lily's eye!

I have to go back to page 42 to catch up. You folks have been busy chatting today!!!
But wanted to type first. I just dont have anyone else I am ready to share this with you all of you are so supportive. Im not sure which way is up. Today has been a bit of a rough day.
The adoption event had it's cons, but thats minor. When I got home DH told me my Mom called and I should call her back. My Mom is a jabber-mouth- for her to call and just ask to be called back is unheard of, so I looked and DH and said 'Tell me whats going on" he said "just call her" me- "Not until you tell me at least something" Long story short I called.
My Dad, as some of you may recall has been fighting prostate cancer for the past 7 years. He has been complaining of back pain for the last 2 months, felt it was the cause of a skiing accident early this season. He was told last week he had a compression fracture- well I guess the fracture- they are calling them "breaks" now and there are at least 4. In the process of getting info on this they realized this is being caused by one of 3 things. They are most leaning towards his cancer matastisizing and a tumor has put pressure on his spine and caused the fractures. The alternative is lymphoma or lukemia. So he should hopefully know tomorrow if he is looking at surgery and radiation (in addition to the hormone treatments he hates) or treating the lukemia/lymphoma by some other means- Im not sure.
He's in a lot of pain right now and my Mom says he's not talking much. The meds he's on make him spacey, or the pain keeps him from talking.
I know the hormone treatments have left him incontinent and give him severe shakes, and fatigue and such.

I know we are sewing board. Im just so upset right now and knew you all would understand.
:grouphug: :grouphug: I am so sorry you guys are going through this! We are so much more than a sewing board! Come hear any time you need to talk.

We are so much more than a sewing board!! We are a gab board, a prayer board, a I-am-so-there-for-you-anytime board! :flower3: I am so very sorry to hear about your dad. I am praying for you and your family. May God give you peace and strength!!
SO TRUE!!!!!

So if you have followed my posts, you will know that I have VERY limited knowledge of sewing and my last attempt was a long time ago and had tragic and scarring results.

I finally bought a sewing machine, got it set up and began to make, what I thought would be an easy project. Shorts.

Well, I managed to not sew the legs together so it looked like a skirt gone horribly wrong.

There was not one single stitch that was straight, it looked like I had been sewing while intoxicated.

I finally did manage to get the legs sewn together and the crotch seam done (still drunk sewing looking)

One pant leg was wider than the other

The hem on each pant leg was pitiful
One pant leg was longer than the other even though I measured it 4 times.

It was none the less, sad and kinda scary but I will trudge on..

I would post a picture but as Halloween has past, I do not want to scare you all unnecessarily.

I am off to practice some more....
What pattern where you using? Was it Carla's easy fit pants or a commercial pattern?

Here is the outfit for Hayden (Tiny Treasures Big Give) that I made this afternoon. He loves orange and the cars material was all I could find that coordinated with the shirt!

th_2630320080067077547S500x500Q85.jpg

Just the Easy Fit pants with the orange shirt. Simple rectangular applique on the shirt.
very cute! I seriously need to get that fabric! Kyle has wanted it for awhile and every time I see it I mean to get it but I always seem to run out of money in the fabric store!
Here is my contribution to the Simply Sweet Marathon Sunday!

I think I'm gonna start another - maybe for Easter. I'm going tomorrow to get Wall-E fabric for my big give outfit, so I'm hoping to get that done.
cute!
I finally have some pictures of the outfits I have been working on for the last week. We are headed to WDW in March. I only got my model to put on one of the dresses for me. Here goes:

The first one I made is for a day at Epcot:

The next three are for days at MK.

I still have to make a t-shirt to match the skirt. Of course she wants a dress like the others with tinkerbell but I ran out of fabric and couldn't find any more of the purple. I have a couple more things to make for her and then a bunch of mickey head shirts and possibly some shorts for the boys.
Love the sleeping beauty one! Actually they are all great!

Here is Jayden's latest outfit. She LOVES all things Pooh bear, especially Tigger. The Tigger on the shirt was an ebay iron-on embroidered patch. The kind you can hardly find anymore.

Thanks to Denise/mytwotinks for the design inspiration on the skirt! :thumbsup2
Sorry if the photos don't resize. Photobucket is killing me tonight.

Love jayden's outfit!!!!! I love that she still loves the character stuff you make her because I always wonder if Nik is getting to old even though she likes the stuff I make and so do her friends. So seeing Jayden makes me feel better! she is just so pretty too!

I've got lots of pages to go back & catch up on, but was so excited that I finished this dress this evening that I had to share! This is my 2nd dress, so I'm still getting the hang of things, but am pretty happy with how it turned out - here is Maddie's Valentine's Day dress:

th_January031-1.jpg

I could have made it smaller, but this way it'll fit for a long time, I guess. ;) Since I'm new to all of this, all of the gathering took me longer than any other part of this dress. Does anyone have any tips for quick & easy gathering? Or will I just get better at it with time?

Off to catch up! :)
I would say you got it! It looks perfect! Your little one is so cute!

I was going through some pictures of our October trip to Disneyland when my youngest saw this.....

th_DSC02268.jpg

This is what she wants to be for Halloween. Now I realize it is January. My girls have been trained to get their requests into Auntie early. She needs time to ponder the costume, google pictures, and find washable fabric.

Anyway this year Auntie has her oldest daughters wedding in July, of course she is sewing.

There is no way that I want to call her and tell her that this is the requested costume this year. I know she will be on here at some point.

I do not sew, but to me it looks like you have to basically make 2 dresses.

So now you all that do sew need to post how easy this would be to make. :lmao:
I remember that window from my trip! We thought it was so cool!
Hi Everyone,

So happy Attikus is feeling better!! YAY!!!! THat was a rough time!!!

Piper - soooooo cute ! love it, and Im sure he will too!!!

Jayden looks GREAT in her outfit - its really tweenish looking - very cool!

Well, I got a lot done today, but I couldnt finish the simply sweet dress - i Kept messing up - so that is my signal to stop for the night!! Ahhhh that seam ripper and I were great friends today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are 2 outfits I made for Elizabeth....

that is PERFECT!

We spent the afternoon/evening at Disneyland. So it was SIL's birthday today and since we have AP's, he got a gift card for $60.00!!! The only catch is he had to use it today! My DH and I left him still shopping trying to spend that money. I saw lots of things that I will use with MY $60 gift card!!!

Sue
Very cool to know because we will be at the world on Nikki's bday!

I did my 1st embroidery design on my new machine and it was so easy!!!!!!!! I let Kyle and his friend pick it out and of course they picked the one with the 2nd longest set of thread changes! I still can't get over how easy it was. The only thing is I probably needed a better stabilizer. It puckers a bit. I also put Kyle's name on it and that puckered a lot but I think tat is because I didn't smooth it out right when I moved the material. So hopefully next time it will be better.

Cute! That reminds me of the Tigger applique I made, but I bet you didn't draw the whiskers on with a fabric marker, lol! It's probably a good thing I never saw the appliques on ebay, I would have bought them all! Megan said she looks super cool and she loves her name on the picture.

I wish you could have heard the squealing when my daughter saw these pictures! Such a cutie and the dress is so sweet too. A little too big is perfect when they are growing so fast!

Megan is impressed you found "her" horse fabric. She says, "good job!" :thumbsup2 I love the animal print too, the ruffles look great.

I agree with your husband, the bow really makes the outfit. It is beautiful and I bet Becca will get a lot of attention from the characters.

Well, Megan just informed me that since the Steelers are going to the Superbowl, she needs a Steelers t-shirt dress. I don't know if we can find one for cheap down here, but I'd better get on it!

Very cool to know because we will be at the world on Nikki's bday!

Make sure you register her birthday with Disney ahead of time and bring her birth cert.

I saw on the news that they got rid of having to use the gift card ON your actual birthday for WDW at least. Although I'm sure Ash is going to find something (BBB???) to blow it on that day!!!

I always have a safety pin attached to the elastic. I have BTDT and find the safety pin helps!

I felt like such an idiot last night. I was making one of CarlaC's skirts and I used the safety pin on both ends like I normally do. I'd sewn in one side and then went to take the pin out of the other side to sew it in place when I dropped the elastic and lost it in the casing. I tried to feed it back through with no success, so I took our the part on the left where I'd sewed in one side earlier and missed the elastic before I finished ripping my seam out, so now the elastic is free floating in the casing. I ended up just taking the whole casing aparat and starting over. Very frustrating. I know better than that. Needless to say I lost some time dealing with the elastic and didn't quite finish off the skirt last night.

Hi All,

Well, it looks like my DH is down with the flu or somethin....he is kinda pathetic when he is sick and sleeps aLOT!!!!

How are eveyone elses families?

Steph, any chance you'd be willing to walk me through the lettuce edge thing?????

Still having serger issues - will I ever figure this thing out? Can anyone drop by and set the tensions for me????:rotfl: or would you be willing to just tell me what you have each tension set at? I have the singer from walmart....on thick knit, it seems to work great - but on regular fabric, its sooooo loose:confused3

Awwwww poor thing....the end is bad enough without the flu. I hope you and the family get better soon! Just think, everyone will be healthy for the little one's arrival! :crazy2: (hahahaha love that smiley)
We are now over the temp!!!! :cool1: Attikus had a good night, we stayed home today. I like to wait 24hrs after no temp to make sure. He was smiling and laughing tonight. We even had family movie night and he thought he would join in. That made a crowded bed!:crowded: I think he ate half a bowl of cheerios. He won't eat baby food, but have discovered he will eat people food.:confused3 Thank you all for the prayers, it's so nice to have my happy little boy back!:goodvibes
Glad Attikus is feeling better! I hate it when the kiddos are sick

Hope everyone is having a nice day! :hourglass I love all the outfits and things posted!

I didn't think to put a photo in when I sent the dress! I did put a notecard in the box with the (cartoon) stepsisters on it. Maybe she'll compare her dress with the picture?

Oh my goodness! That is SO cute!

The diaper bag is really cute! I love the fabrics that you used. Sorry that the pattern gave you fits.

I really like how you used the t-shirt. Hmmm, now I'm wondering if Megan is too tall for that to work for her...

This is darling, as usual! I see what you mean about the pants, but I think some pink ric rac just above the ruffle might just do the trick. Honestly, it's fine the way it is, I think we're all just hypersensitive to coordination! :rotfl:

I love it! Megan will too. I'm going to have to make sure she sees these pictures. That turquoise blue is one of her favorite colors.

How is Jayden feeling these days? Better, I hope!

Oh, that is so precious! She could not be any cuter in her Valentine's day dress!! I think you did a great job with it. :thumbsup2

eta - You asked about gathering. Check Teresa's bookmarks and search gathering. There have been a bunch of different methods discussed on the various threads and I bet she has the links.

I love this soooo much! I REALLY wanted to make Jayden and her BFF dress in "casual" Anastasia and Drizella for my birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fair (Lily will be wearing something Cinderella) but her BFF is leaving for West Palm earlier in the day. :sad2: How dare she mess up my birthday dinner? :rotfl2: My 2 year old niece will be there, but she is all about Cinderella too. Anyone want to come to my birthday dinner and bring a stepsister? :lmao:

I'm glad she still loves it too but it is tricky to sort of "tweenify" her customs. I wanted to make her patchwork capris for the Tigger shirt, but she really wanted a skirt with a ruffle. Of course in the parks, really anything goes so I shouldn't worry about it so much.

Not that I've ever done the exact same thing...:rolleyes1 but I just found the loose end of the elastic and unpicked about an inch of the casing right before the end of the elastic, pulled it through and put a pin back on it and tucked it back in.

Awwwww, she and the dress are just adorable!

Awwwww that outfit is soooo cute. I love the applique too! How cute will they both be in their Pooh outfits!!! So what else do you have to make???

a LOT! :lmao: I cut out an applique for a shirt for Seth, grabbed the shirt out of the sack (I had to go to 2 stores to find an adult small red Jerzees tee shirt) unfolded it and looked at the back and there are 3 big holes in the back of the shirt! So it looks like I'm running back to Michael's today. It was their last one so I'm going to have to try another Michael's.

I love it! Megan will too. I'm going to have to make sure she sees these pictures. That turquoise blue is one of her favorite colors.

How is Jayden feeling these days? Better, I hope!

Thanks, she's feeling pretty good. We go see a different doctor (an NP actually) in a few days.

Finally, I found the cord for my camera and could upload some pictures.

Here's Drizella in the park:

This is Drizella's dress for Becca - she's not a "princess kind of girl" but will be having lunch next week with the stepsisters on her MAW trip:

(Thanks, Fayth, for modeling :) )

Photos were taken before the dress was ironed. My husband says the bow makes the outfit. I covered a headband in acetate ribbon and hot glued the bow to the top of the headband.
I love it. You did a great job on that dress and yes the bow is fabulous.

Well, what is it a year later and I finally made a crayon roll up! Here it is:

That is probably all my pictures for now! LOL!
Jessica everything looks great. If Jenna was younger I would get you to do her one of those Wiggles shirts. She was all about the Wiggles when she was younger. That Eiffel Tower is very cute.

Praying everyone gets better before the baby comes. Pixie dust for your labor, i have 4 little ones also, #4 was born 20 min after arriving at the hospital =)

Now that is the kind of labor I need... thanks for sending the pixie dust! I do think I'm feeling better this morning, hoping I've turned the corner. The rest of the crew is going down hill but at least it seems to only last a few days. Everyone is home for a few more days as well, including DH. He works in DC and they closed his office for the inaguration. So, if everyone else is laying around feeling bad I will sew, sew, sew!

I have 4 crayon roll-ups on my to-do list, actually 2 twistable crayon and 2 twistable colored pencil. I'm scared, mainly of getting the measurements right. I actually almost started on them last night but didn't. Your Wiggles shirts are amazing! I can't believe those little dots on Dorothy! I just don't know how you do it Jessica! :worship: :worship: :worship: Luke was asking about his friend Dallas the other day! That Eiffel tower is cool!
