Wow, go away for a couple of days and this thread grows by 23 pages! :rotfl2:

Hugs and prayers going to all who need them.

The newest outfits are so cute! You all are so talented. I hope to post a few pictures tomorrow of the things I have made in the last month or so.

I think the snow white design is from ebay seller Divas doodles. I have ordered the sleeping beauty one and hope to make it in the morning!

Help!

Is it Carla who made a Elizabethan/Victorian/something like that dress at Halloween?

Auntie Fairygoodmother has another difficult project in the works. My 8 yo niece has to do a school project on a music composer: research, oral report, and DRESS UP like the person. Most little girls chose Hannah Montana :confused3
Sierra will do either Clara Schumann or Maria Anna Mozart (based on her mother's google search)
Simplicity has great patterns...all adult sized...for Civil War, Elizabethan, and Victorian costumes. But I recall seeing one on the boards once for a child and I just don't know how to begin looking.

Help??

In my search for info on the Feliz pattern I came across a blogger who did a Victorian twist on it- I dont know if its authentic enough for you. But it does have a bustle effect going on in back with the ruffles. Trillium is the blogger. There is also a Wikimix site that has a link to a whole photo album of Feliz's. But I guess it depends what type of Victorian you are looking for. Empire waists were popular then. here is a link to an adlut and toddler

Do you want to get into embroidery and/or lace insertion?

This website discusses the different dress styles through the 1800s http://www.shootingstarhistory.com/patterns/

Maria Anna Walburga Ignatia Mozart (July 30, 1751–October 29, 1829),
Clara Josephine Wieck (September 13, 1819 – May 20, 1896)

As you can see these ladies were born in different parts of the 1800s and thus the styles were not identical.
In late 1800s ladies had their bustle, but leg of mutton sleeves were starting to become vogue.
Earlier 1800s and you had less of a bustle, with a narrow sleeve and sloped shoulder

heres an early 1800s dress- actually from about the mid 1700s to about 1830 it was still considered "Regency"
Victorian didn't begin until the mid 1800s.
1454a.jpg

a 7 or 8 year old girl would wear very similar outfit. If you have Netflix you can do a streaming video of Wives and Daughters and see young girls dressed, with their straw hats- they would have had beribboned straw hats in summer.
c1255a.jpg

heres a later 1800s- note this would have more of a bustle to it
9b5c_1.JPG

and if you want to go mid-1800s here is info on that- in which case I think the Feliz would work pretty well for you- look at the skirt in the picture farthest to the right, and it reminds me of the Feliz pattern as a skirt

Colouring in Pictures of Mid Victorian Children's Costume 1870 to 1880

1870 1875 1875
The invention of aniline dyes meant that garish colours were used on children's clothing. Puce, plum, scarlet red and navy were all strong colours of the era. Corded petticoats were used to support dresses which began to show soft bustle/polonaise element as the skirt was bunched up.

Girl's hairstyles of the 1870s all sported the fringe.

Another popular mass invention was the sewing machine and this enabled garments to be even more profusely decorated with extra frills and pleats or other weighty trimmings. Braids and buttons were used equally lavishly, but the high bodices were almost always collarless. Almost all dresses were finished with a large sash ending in a fulsome bow.

Okay-was that what you were hoping for????

Okay, I have to ask. What is so great about the easy fit pants? I have several pants patterns, so I am wondering what is the difference. I just spent a good amount on a portobellopixie pants pattern that goes up to like size 12. Just wondering because I was thinkign about getting a bundle from YCMT, but really feel like I don't need pants. Tell me if I need them please?? LOL

I felt the same way. I had an easy pj pattern I used so I bought the easy fit pants but didn't use it for a while. Then the child grew. Now my pattern was useless because I cut it out in the smaller size. With the e-books you can print out whatever size you need and cut it right out. Also, they are two pieces, instead of four that the commercial patterns usually have. That's two less seams to sew. Also, Carla give directions for lengthening and shortening and adding a cuff. With the commercial patterns you are on your own for customizing. That's why I like Carla's pattern!

I think it was Carla, but I don't think she used a pattern. I am sure you could use the simply sweet pattern to do it. I am thinking of Tom and Jeanne who used it to make Little Bo Peep.

I don't think Carla C used a pattern for her stepdaughter's costume. Did she ever say what it was supposed to be, or if it was just a random doll?

(Yes, I'm still wondering these odd things all these months later.)

I am going to Disney World!!!!!

Sorry to shout, but tomorrow I leave for the World. Sadly, it is for work (I am going to a conference), but it's still Disney World!! I am staying at the Swan. I am so :cheer2: (Didn't there used to be a cloud9 smilie? I didn't see it).

I'll be there tomorrow through next Friday, if anyone else is there! :)

This is really cute. I hope you pass on that email....I didn't even know they had leggings for skinny minnies. Your daughter is adorable.

That coat is beautiful! I love everything about it, from the buttons to the pretty flowers!

.

Love the coat! Looks like the Corky and Company coats my girls have had. Great job!

Oh my gosh, she is just too darn cute & the coat is great too!

I love this coat and your DD is is very pretty. What pattern did you use for the coat? I have made Jenna's coats for the last two years.

That looks great! I love it!
I have a coat cut out for my DD that I want to smock, but I never get around to it. It just is never cold here. I feel silly making coats. It is cold right now, but surely it will be gone by the weekend!

:

Thaks for all the compliments. It is simplicity pattern 2745. I will warn you that the godets (triangles that go inbetween parts to give it flair) come in one size and they were too short. Thank goodness dd is short because I had to trim quite a bit for it to fit her right anyhoo. I am glad I finished it because it is freezing here today!

Thank you Darla

I am talking about this one. It says disneymommyof2 added the picture. But I know many have made them.

My baby boy is sick! His temp is 103.5, he keeps moaning, it's so sad!

Oh, I hope he is feeling better this morning. It is so hard when they are that little.

Thank you Darla

it was an upholstry fabric warehouse.:sad2: I was so sad! Thought I was going to hit it big! At least I got to go to Joanns while in Virgnia.

I made this for my DD for her Christmas Program
It is a white peasant top,
Fleece shawl, and Carla's Hemmed Single Tier Skirt. I used the flouncy skirt pattern to cut the shawl out of fleece. Fleece won't unravel so that is all I did to it. Of course it could be trimmed for a fancier look.

Thank you so very much for the help is the pattern reversible. I thought they were able to to do two fabric patterns?

I am sorry you didn't find a great fabric score.

I don't think this one is reversable. I thought the one they used was from youcanmakethis.com, but I don't see it there either!

Alright, I was off to buy some easy fit pants and a bowling shirt pattern from YCMT, as people suggested, but I don't quite understand how this works... I'm used to buying the store-bought patterns where you have the big tissue paper that you cut out and fit to fabric. How does that part work with an e-book? The patterns on YCMT are all e-book format, am I right?
Just make sure that when you print it out you select "none" in the drop down box for scaling.
The patterns have a page in them to make sure they are printed at 100%

Wohoo! Have fun!

I did once stop at a fabric outlet in Virginia- in a town called Fancy Gap.

They did have some "Robots' fabric I kind of wish I had bought. That was before I was trying to find a scrap of every character I can find for a quilt. I will probably never see it again. :sad2:

I got some ideas off of facebook, Thanks Darla.

DD4 is having 100th day at school on the 27th. She has to wear something with 100 things on it. Anyone wnat to give ideas. Darla gave some good ones, just thought I would see what else you all can think of. Besides my kid may not be the only one that has 100 day at school. This would give some ideas!
The only thing I can think of is 100 buttons. Jenna has to do a project like that, but she has to put 100 things on a poster board and all the things have to be in categories. Yeah I have to figure this one out.

YEAH!!!! You found it!! Thank you. Now, does anyone know Heather's user name?

Thank you!!
Heather is HeatherSue.

Cute! I love the Disney pictures! My favorite is the round neck minnie dot.

Don't tell Arminda, but Jacob has "friends that are girls" who he has been hanging out with a lot. I think there is one special girl but he has been spending time with her and her best friend. He asked me to make purses for them because they loved the one I made for his teacher. I made them wristlets:

IMG_1067.jpg

I think I need to make one for myself! They are so easy and cute.
Those Sponge Bob jammies are so cute! Where in the store do you find the ribbing? Is it a by the yard kind of thing or is it prepackaged?
Finished the first outfit for our trip in April:

Picture103-1.jpg

Honest opinion - should I shorten the top by an inch or two? It seems too long and out of proportion to me.

Sorry for cutting of dd's head, but we have been having this discussion about internet safety with her so.........

Emily
I love the outfit as it is. Great job! Is that the A-line pattern from Youcanmakethis.com?
From the MK: Showing Cinderella her Princess poncho

The coat turned out so nicely! Great job. I love the flower embellishments andy your DD is adorable.
So we went to Disneyland again This is beginning to feel like a monthly event but it is getting me going on making the girls' outfits and we are now "disboard spotting". The girls are busy looking for outfits that they have seen on the board. It is so funny. I have some things to share and then I also have a couple of questions.

First....this is so a complete case from photobucket. I forgot who actually created the first one but the idea stuck with me and here is my rendition.

In a Big Give, someone created a super cute :cutie: outfit for Miranda with a sweet Snow White applique and ribbon tshirt. Does anyone remember who that was and where I might find that applique? I would absolutely love to recreate the look for my girls but I don't know where to start.

Thanks for letting me share!!! ~Barbara Jean
Great job! Your family is beautiful and Welcome to the board.
Really great stuff everyone! I'm falling behind a bit because I've been sewing I almost made Lily's whole Valentine's dress today. I don't have much left to do but I must say it is turning out to be one of my favorite things I've made! It is far from perfect, and I debated a LOT over fabric choices, but it sort of came out as I envisioned it. We have ADRs for breakfast at Chef Mickey's on Valentine's Day. That was originally the day we were going home, but I added 2 days to our trip :cool1: so it feels like an extra special day now because we'll be at Disneyworld ALL DAY!
Can't wait to see it. I loved your It's a Small World outfit.
My baby boy is sick! His temp is 103.5, he keeps moaning, it's so sad!
Poor little guy, I hope he feels better soon. :grouphug: hugs for you Mom.
I think that she was talking about this one.

It was made by Heather, I think.

Yours is just as cute.:thumbsup2

Poor Attikus! Claire (my DD3) got sick Sunday night and of course, by Wednesday Lilly (6 month old) was sick too. It was kind of convenient since we had her 6 month well visit scheduled for Wednesday. When we got to the Dr.'s she had a 102 fever. They said it was probably viral. We alternated every 3 hours too with tylenol and motrin. She seems much better now though so it was a quick recovery for her. But I feel bad since it is her sixth or seventh fever already. They wouldn't give her the vaccines she needed so we will be making a return trip on the 27th for those. I hope he feels better soon. THey are so pathetic when they are sick. Hold him close!

Since you are looking at two of CarlaC's patterns you might want to see if there is a bundle with those two in them and in the long term it might save you money. I think someone else explained, but I'll do it again just in case, you have to print out the size you want and tape it together. It's really pretty easy. Good luck!

It is beautiful! i am with you I have and addiction to Coach purses! Except my DH likes them better than the cheaper ones I pick out so he is all for getting me them:cool1: I am no help because i say keep it! You have been going through so much lately you deserve something special that makes you happy!

Linnette.....Just say NO!! But it is stinkin cute and if you kept it I would so understand. I think we all have our secret addictions. (I can't stop adopting:yay: )
:rotfl2: What a great addiction to have!

So, what pattern would you say is an absolute must have. A staple in your collection. I have a 6yr old daughter and am about to start on her outfits for our Nov/Dec trip.

Cindee, I sent you a pm about leggings for skinny minnies!
Could you pm me too about it! Nikki is miss stick legs!

Can I have that email too? I would love to make dd some leggins but she is tiny.

My baby boy is sick! His temp is 103.5, he keeps moaning, it's so sad!
Poor baby! Could it be a UTI? Kyle used to get them and fevers would come out of no where it was really scary because one second he would be fine the next he would have a 104 fever and we would be in the ER!

Sorry I know i missed some things but I had to do a quick drive by because I am on my way to the sewing shop to trade my machine in for my embroidery machine!:cheer2: :cheer2:
It is FREEZING out BUT I am afraid DH will change his mind so I need to go do it NOW!!!!!!!!
