The rest are DD2 sets to match DD4. DD2 was in a very corporative mood today. That is not the norm. Do you notice that DD2 is wearing ballet slippers? The only time I can get them off her feet is when it is bath time!

I hope that was not too many pictures! I am keeping a photo journal of my trip sewing projects.

Love them all! How beautiful.

Where did you find the black and white swirly fabric on the bottom and waist of the Ursula outfit???

I love that fabric and I have seen it used on several outfits. Googling "black and white swirly fabric" has not helped me track it down though. ;)

Aimee those are all so pretty. I especially love the Incredibles dresses. Jenna doesn't care for them much, but I love the Incredibles.
Aimee, I tried to talk Megan into Briar Rose's dress this year and she said no! I will have to show her all the cuteness she is missing. Great job on all of them, they are all beautiful.

Yesterday I was feeling a little better so I made a rag quilt for my neighbor who just had a baby. It went together so much faster than the first one I made! Once you know what you are doing, they just fly. I hope she doesn't mind the pink, it's for a boy, but that's the flannel I had on hand.

Too cute Steph.

First off here are a couple new things . . .

DD2 as Working Girl Cindy and DD4as Briar Rose-

They are wearing these to the BBB before their princess transformation. I think they turned out pretty cute. :)

The Incredible are the coolest in our house these days. DD4 practices doing splits over top chairs like Elastigirl. They both love Violet. I used cheap fabric from Walmart for these and I wish I did not. I had more problems making this dress than any other. Go figure????

Fabulous! I adore the Ursula! OMG I would wear a shirt with her on it! HUMMM maybe I should applique one for me!

This is the one that I made my dd last year. I used Simplicity 9384.

Very cute!

Fairygodmother thanks for the reply. I am using simplicity 5835. I have purchased satins and a sheer pink of some sort. I thought I would try a sheer over the pink satin skirt and sheer sleeves. I do have pictures of the Jolly Holiday dress, but must first read the tutorial on putting pictures in your post because I don't know how to do that yet!!! I will work on it this afternoon and see if I can figure it out. And I really want to thank-you for your sewing directions on that one (Jolly Holiday dress) I have never got so many compliments on a costume in all my life...

Poohnpigtel and EnchantedPrincess thank-you so much for the pictures. I have searched and could not come up with what I wanted. Those are just perfect. What cute princess'es you have. I was never blessed with a princess, just 3 princes, so making costumes for little girls is expecially fun for me.

Teresa you are a hoot!

Okay well its my nap time, but I have this one story to share.
I stopped in a fabric store to see if I could buy a ruffler foot. Megan was with me (keep in mind she is 2). Now these people know me somewhat, meaning I have taken a few classes i nthe past and they know I sew for her. This older lady looks at Megan and says, "well, she'll be too old for ruffles pretty soon"

WHAAAAT??? Are you kidding me? What planet does she live on? So a 3yr old is too old for ruffles? I just looked and her and said "Noooo, I dont think so"

cant believe a ruffler foot is going to cost me $30!

If it makes you feel any better . . .

1. My oldest is almost five and insists on ruffles on everything.

2. I have the receipt from my Mom's ruffler that she bought in 1982. It was $30 also. Which I killed last year and had to buy a new Viking ruffler. I will take the cost of that one to the grave. :sad2:

I finished my biggive outfit for Avy.

Jan_misc014-1.jpg

I bought the shirt and then made the skirt to go with it. I hope she likes it. I forgot to take off the sticker when I took the picture. Oops.

Jan_misc011.jpg

This is the material I am using to make an outfit for Mya's Big Give.

Here is the material for Megan's V-Day skirt. Its cut out, and partially pinned, but not sewn yet.
Jan_misc012.jpg

I found this material at a small local fabric shop and fell in love with it.
Jan_misc013.jpg
I am going to make an outfit for Megan for Texas Independance Day. I can't wait.

More pictures in a few minutes.
wow Those are awesome outfits and some great fabric finds

Mayson is looking for Boo Boo chicken on playhouse disney and Flicker ,Can i just say that Flicker may not have been the best named Handy Manny tool .The first time Mayson said it i thought i was gonna die it sounded like he was saying the F -word and i have to let everyone know he is saying FLICKER not F________...:rotfl:
well off to finish some more shirts... (HOPEFULLY):sad2:

Oh if you want to try something cool for Aurora you could always try this.....
DSC02268.jpg

I think someone needs to make this for my daughter. Aurora is becoming one of her favorites, and she saw this and flipped. The way i see it, someone can make 2 dresses, have one half and half set for their daughter, and one half and half set for mine! Any takers? We could make a 4 or a 5 or a 6 fit!

That 'swirly' fabric is by Michael Miller and I think it's called Ironworks or something like that. It comes in several colors and I LOVE it. Joann's has a sewing basket that is red and black.

Aimee - love the working girl Cinderella. Great idea for before BBB. And of course every thing else is beautiful. Your girls will be best dressed at Disney for sure.

Steph - Great rag quilt. No, I don't think it is too girly.

Aimee,
They are all adorable! Look how big the girls are getting and the long hair! Too cute!

Thank You!
I keep seeing it used in outfits and I love it. I am off to google. Thank you!!

Wow am I far behind!

Carla: Love the bow sash! I like the size you used too.

Aimee: We'd love to borrow Hannah/Anastasia! :rotfl2: I love the outfits! Piglet is so cute and I love the villains. When did Sophee's hair get so long? :confused3 I love the Briar Rose and working Cinderella dresses! I have a pattern and fabric to make Lily a Cindy one but am avoiding it because it is a commercial pattern AND has a giant zipper. I was thinking it would be fun to have her wear to BBB and then change into her other Cinderella outfit. Then I wondered if I was crazy. Now I know I'm not :thumbsup2 well, um...at least not crazy for a disboutiquer, maybe by boring standards.

My old Singer has a 1/4" seam allowance at the edge of the foot but my brother has a wider foot. The edge of my foot is just about 1/2". It has a little groove on the inside of the foot that marks 1/4".

Steph: Cute rag quilt! I have one half cut out that I didn't finish for Christmas and now it has to wait until we get back from our trip.

O.K. I hope this works. It is my first try at posting a picture and believe me when I say that I am computer challenged.:rotfl: Anyway here is my version of the Jolly Holiday Dress.

WOW WOW WOW Thank you so much! You all know how to make a girl feel good. :cheer2:

Aimee, I tried to talk Megan into Briar Rose's dress this year and she said no! I will have to show her all the cuteness she is missing. Great job on all of them, they are all beautiful.

Thank you Steph! Hannah does not want to wear shoes to keep the dress authentic. I tried to explain WDW does not allow bare feet. LOL

I think the quilt is perfect. Soft and sweet!
Aimee, love all the dresses! Ursula or the working girls are my favorites!

I am particularly fond of baby Cinderella. Sophee will only answer to Cinderella or Barbie some days! LOL

I love the working girl idea for before BBB. What a cute idea. That is adorable!

Last time Hannah was Cleaning Snow White and then Princess Snow White I did her costume in Calico because of the extreme heat on mid September.

Aimee...love all the dresses! They are fabulous! I wish I had time and fabric to make some of those! And your girls are getting big!

Funny when you do not have a computer what you can accomplish! LOL :lmao:

Love them all! How beautiful.

I love that fabric and I have seen it used on several outfits. Googling "black and white swirly fabric" has not helped me track it down though. ;)

It is ironworks by Michael Miller. You can find it here and there but it is pretty tricky. I found some on etsy. Hope that helps.:)

Aimee those are all so pretty. I especially love the Incredibles dresses. Jenna doesn't care for them much, but I love the Incredibles.

Thanks!

Fabulous! I adore the Ursula! OMG I would wear a shirt with her on it! HUMMM maybe I should applique one for me!

I really like the way Ursula turned out. She is pretty fun but I was so nervous doing her. I was waiting to mess up!

WOWWWWW! those are all to cute Great job you must be a proud mama when your kiddos are wearing those!

Thanks! I am really enjoying it while it lasts.

Thanks! So does your little cupcake have something super fab for Valentines Day! Talk about Belle of the ball. There are not too many cuter kids out there. :) :)

I hate putting in zippers. I think I have found 101 ways to avoid them. Thanks!!! :)

O.K. I hope this works. It is my first try at posting a picture and believe me when I say that I am computer challenged.:rotfl: Anyway here is my version of the Jolly Holiday Dress.

Wow, that's beautiful. I want to say Hi!! I am new here and now subscribed. I also made a Jolly Holiday Dress for my daughter for Halloween 2007. She wore it to Disney in Feb. 2008 and had an AMAZING and magical time. I had so many people stopping me asking me where they could get one. People also asked my DD for autographs and pictures. She was a little celebrity. Not to mention that she be-friended her favorite character Mary Poppins!

If anyone here works for Disney My DD's story was in volume 38, number 9, April 24-May 7, 2008 edition of Eyes & Ears (Disney's employees magazine). It was called "Mary's Biggest Little Fan" and featured her name, picture with Mary Poppins and a Thank you letter that I wrote to all of the wonderful castmembers who made our trip so special.

I will also try to post pictures.

They are of my daughter last week in the dress. (She is so cute! She acts just like Mary Poppins when she is in the dress, as you can see!) It's showing some wear (especially the hat!) and is much smaller in her now but you get the idea. I didn't have a pattern and I made it from just looking at the photos of Mary in Disnay the year before. I tried to make it as accurate as possible. I hope you all enjoy the pics.

Oh, and I love the Aurora dress that was just posted. Just beautiful. You are all so talented!

OH NO! Absolutely not! I was really glad to hear that your celebration pretty much involves food. I can do food! I'm really grateful for your input. It's important for me for my daughter to have exposure to the Chinese culture, and I want it to be right. So, THANKS! AND, I think I'm gonna pick up some pot stickers this year.

Last year, we went to a Chinese culture show that was in Dallas. Our entire family enjoyed it. It was attended by a very large population of Asians. They all doted on AbbyGrace, and it was so nice to be a part of the cultural experience that evening. Since we were in Dallas, we are also able to have dinner at PF Chang's. YUMMO!

Oh, good. I'm relieved I didn't overwhelm you. Isn't it fun to have another culture to learn about and integrate? My DH and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary, so I'm pretty new to Chinese culture, too. I got to travel to China with him once and it was such an incredible experience! I'd never left the country, before.
You are too kind, lol, lets just say the ribbon wasnt part of the original plan, neither was the jumbo rick rack - they were each added to cover lets just say boo boo's?????:rotfl2: and somehow the side seam ended up a bit on the front!!!! AHHHHHHH not sure how that came to be????
As other people have said, your mistakes ended up enhancing the outfit.

Aimee, (I hope you don't mind my using your first name! Other people have used it and I picked it up) your outfits are so beautiful! I love the idea of the working girl transformations. So clever and cute! The incredibles outift is super cute, too. My kids love incredibles, as well. I love all the outfits. What great hard work!
I am Chinese as well, and I have to say that growing up, our celebration involves a lot of food and eating...usually on Chinese new Year's Eve. We always have noodles (it represents long life..we also have noodles for birthdays as well), whole fish and whole chicken (represents abundance and prosperity). We also set off firecrackers at midnight to welcome the New Year...then start the morning off with new clothes and new shoes. Then, we eat and eat some more and celebrate for 15 days.
Wow -- 15 days?! I'll have to tell my inlaws to step it up! :lmao:
GYMBUCKS have found a home!
Those were sure snatched up fast. :rotfl2: I knew I didn't stand a chance. J/k, unfortunately, we don't have a gymboree in Alaska. My DH and I are going to be moving this fall, though, if all goes well, and I can't wait for all the shopping down south! How will I ever control my spending??
I know this is really off topic, but I have to ask. I have been a long time lurker on these threads. I have started to sew b/c I have just loved everything I have seen on here. The question is has anyone gone the week of memorial day? I want to go May 22-29 b/c ds will be four on the 26th. Is that a really bad idea? I am asking here b/c it seems like everyone here is a seasoned veteran at WDW. This will be our first trip and I just thought it would be awesome for ds birthday. Any suggestions???
I couldn't help but notice, your family is almost identical to mine! My DH is 30, I'm 25. My DS is 4, and my DD turns 2 this weekend! Cool!

Cute blanket! I think it looks perfect for a little boy.
Okay well its my nap time, but I have this one story to share.

cant believe a ruffler foot is going to cost me $30!
What is this lady thinking??? Too old for ruffles?? That's crazy! I hate how so many people dress their little ones like teenagers.

That's beautiful! I would have died for this dress as a little kid!

Thank you! I tell everyone I know that if your going to Disney to meet your child's favorite character it's a good idea to go dressed up. They get a little bit of extra attention that makes it all worth so much more

Oh, and I would have loved that dress when I was a kid too! I would have danced and spun around all day! Too bad my mother was a little creativity challenged!
