I have just one thought...you can't please all the people all the time & I'm sorry some people don't like the way this swap is being handled. :confused3

It looks like there's a week in June and a couple in Aug where we need people. I 2-3 people join so that the fridge doesn't get "lost" in the storage of Pop.

Speaking of storage - I know some things are easier to locate when they've got lots of stickers or something on them - easily identified from a distance type of thing. Should we try to get some colored stickers to put on there? Like a bunch of mickeys in a certain color, or some smileys?

Just a thought.

It's a gorgeous day here. I've been out mowing pasture and working horses - one more horse to go before I come in and shower and clean house. Hope everyone else is enjoying the weather if it's gorgeous out where you are!

We definitely need to fill part of the August slot...I'm told POP will hold things 10 days, but I know things get "lost" before that. I'm confident as we get closer, we'll find someone. :-)

It would be fun if we all added some "decoration" to the box of our fridge! Our own personal touch, or message to future swappers. Go crazy...add whatever you want to the box, just let us know (or post a pic) so the next swappers know what to look for.

GhostLady - We are arriving by cruiseship to Ft. Lauderdale and I have yet to arrange transpo to Orlando. The ship gets in early in the morning, I would imagine that we will be there by early evening. What time are you leaving?

I wish I knew. I'm still waiting on my kids school schedule to come out. There's been talk of our schools being on a 2 week break around this time, if that's the case we'll probably be in the area until late afternoon. If not, we'll be leaving pretty early.

I think that check out at POP is 11am though so the fridge will probably need to go to luggage services for a little while. We can work out the details when we both get our times worked out. Of course, I could just come on that cruise with you. :rotfl:

Avonlady - you are doing a great job! If someone has a problem - it's them not the way you are handling this swap.

Bambilover - there are actually only a few days here and there in June. It's taken the 24th-July 9th - it just doesn't list that on the June section (unless I'm reading it wrong?)

I post on every thread where I see people are traveling to POP at the beginning of August :goodvibes
 
Apparently, there are only 2 or 3 swaps that have people ON in the beginning of August (according to something someone in another swap said).

I suggest a fridge swap to everyone & anyone I come across, too! LOL I think some people don't know it's an option.

I'm confident that as we get closer, people will come out of the woodwork. It'll be fine.
 
It's done! I just spoke to Marge & wegoshop & got the ball rolling. I placed our order. Woohoo!

I ordered the fridge on the first page (or something comparable if that isn't in stock - told her it HAD to have freezer compartment & fit a gallon of milk. LOL) I also ordered clorox wipes, paper towels, and packing tape.

If you are like me, and don't think you can tape it up w/ the tape on the inside, please remember to bring your own. If you are small child-free & can leave out strips of tape, the tape will be there for you to use!

When you notice the supplies getting low, please let us know so the next swapper can replenish it, if possible. The paper towels I don't worry about so much...napkins are free in the food court & work just as well.

Please, Please, Please remember - It is YOUR responsibility to get the previous & next swappers info. I don't have it. What you see on the front page is all the info I have. YOU need to correctly label the fridge w/ the next swappers info for the swap to live on. An example is this:

It would be a good idea to exchange cell #'s as well in case you need to communicate.

Glad to see more people joining. I'm planning on bringing extra tape just in case. And I'm heading to the dollar store soon. I'll see what kinda of Disney stickers I can get to put on the box! :woohoo:

On the avail dates, I was going by the fact that while they will hold for up to 10 days, I know that a couple of swaps have lost fridges in as little as 4 days. I knew that there's a couple of points where there are 5-10 days in June/July. June has the bigger gaps over July from what I can see on page 1. But, I'm sure as it gets closer, it will fill up. :thumbsup2
 
I saw a post the other night on a pay it forward approach with 'stuff' and I was thinking that this might work well with our swap. There will be some room in the fridge, so if you had 'something' unused to pay it forward to the next swapper, that might be great. I know last year I had at least 3/4 bottle of liquid Tide that I left in my room, and had some glow necklaces and bracelets even though we gave many away at Spectro and Wishes the night before. Just a thought, curious to see what others think.

A big thank you to Avonlady for taking this over!! I would be fridgeless if it wasn't for her!!! ;)
 
I can assure you I will be having coffee of some sort every morning while I get ready. So the swappers after me will benefit from some kind of coffee pot. I already have a perculator which doesn't use filters and just regular grind coffee, nothing fancy but will get me my morning start to the day. So if it fits in the suitcase I will leave it for the next swappers, and the coffee too. Easier to take a can and leave it than take a ziplok bag of coffee anyway.

I'm planning on packing a whole suitcase full of food stuffs and I'm sure I'll have tons leftover...always do...Southwest lets you take TWO bags for FREE!! With 4 of us, that's potentially 8 suitcases! LOLOL

And you're welcome, schooner!! I'm happy to do it! I would never let you be fridgeless! LOL And, here's a secret...I took it over for selfish reasons!! I, too, need a fridge! And going during free dining, my week was already taken in all the other swaps! So we all win!

OK, so I know that if the CM at Pop bring the fridge up from storage and take it back down for us, that we need to tip. Which leads to my post. Having never done this before, what amount is average for the tipping? And I know tipping can be a volatile subject on the boards. However, I plan on tipping if they bring to my room and take back to storage. So, just trying to find out the average amount or suggested amount. Thanks!

Oh - and I intend to leave some brand new AA batteries in the fridge, not sure what else.

I would say between $5-10, depending on whether or not he's bringing anything else (your luggage if you use magical express, maybe). I think we tipped about $5 or 6 last time when they brought it up...same when they picked it up when we checked out. We're using ME this time, so it will definitely be more when they pick up since they'll be taking our luggage too!

What does everyone else tip or are planning to tip?
 
Hi! I've never been part of a swap before, but I think I understand how this works. We're planning on being at POP from Dec 3-10...can I please sign up for that slot?
