I am wondering if I should request CY view vs. Woods View...I mean, the balconies are enclosed, so does it really matter? Like, if we had a CY view and the kiddos wanted to be able to watch the electrical water parade, we'd have to hold them up, right?? How high is the balcony wall? :confused3
Here is a photo I took last month while seated:

Oh, so the walls aren't super high then? My DD8 is 52 inches tall, so she could probably see over it if standing...My DD5 on the other hand is only 42 inches tall, so I'd have to hold her up I bet...

I would say the balcony wall is around 4 to 4.5 feet high. I know that we've seen kids in the next balcony stand on chairs to see over.

The top of the railing comes up to about my upper chest (I'm 5'10"), so I measured and it would be about 4' or 48".

Gee, I hope it wasn't us:rotfl:. It wasn't August 2011 was it?

lol, no it wasn't you guys. I was actually there that year when you were upgraded, :goodvibes. I remember them talking about it. I was so happy to find out that a military family got to stay in the Pres!!

May I ask how you know where the bunks are? Many people ask and I only know that they are scattered throughout the resort. Is there any rhyme or reason to their location? Do all the bunk room numbers end in multiples of 3?

There is no rhyme or reason to where they are. They are truly scattered. I know of some because we had friends who wanted them and at times we also would request rooms and they would tell us it was bunks.

7043 would be right across from the Yellowstone Suite in the North Wing so it must have a great CV. Does it have a connecting door?

I don't recall a connecting door. One other nice thing about 7043 is that you don't "share" the balcony with the room next door. And there is no room blocking to the left.

Since you are so knowledgeable on all the WL rooms, do you know which rooms do not have connecting doors?

Sorry, I don't.

Hope this helps.

OMG, next you're going to tell me you were there at Christmas of 2010?! Were you actually there in July/August of 2011? We might have reached for the cobbler at the same time:rotfl:

Did Randy tell you what precipitated the mega upgrade? I don't want to bore you (or anyone else) with all the details if you already know the background.

Thank you for all the room details. 7043 sounds just great and it wouldn't have any mechanical noises and it would be in the North Wing where we would possibly hear less rehab noise. We'll be there next about the time they're finishing up the 6th floor, so maybe that would be the perfect time to try out a North Wing room:confused3

Oh, and congratulations on breaking the 100 post mark!!!!party:

No, sorry.

But, room 7119 is a bunk bed. Also 7043 and 7059 are bunks. 7043 is a GREAT view room. It is right at the end of the North Wing, Courtyard.

We stayed in 7049, also a bunk..great view as well. 7043 would definitely be a great room. Our first stay at WL was in 6043. Nothing since has compared :)

Has anybody stayed at WL very recently? I want to know the status of the room rehabs in the north wing.

We'll be checking in a couple of weeks, and I don't know if I should ask for a new room (if possible) and risk the noise and mess of construction or go for a room on the south side to avoid the rehab altogether. We have a woodsview room BTW.

Yes, we really were there! :goodvibes And we did hear about how you got upgraded, :rotfl: We laughed thinking of walking in on someone hanging from the ceiling of our room!!

North Wing is probably the way to go in the Summer.

Thanks on the Congrats!!

LodgeLady - thank you for the detailed information on the rooms. Now I'm not sure if I should go with the North Wing or South Wing. Even though we have two young boys, I think we'd prefer two queens. They are crazy bed hog sleepers and toss and turn so much, I'm afraid whoever was on top would fall out, even with the railing! We were in 7045 and it had two queens.

WDWKOOK - any chance you could get a better layout of the CL when you are there and make a map just of that floor (since it's different from the rest)?

Sounds like we could pretty quickly identify most of the bunk rooms - at least on that floor.

December seems sooooo far away.

Looks like you have your room request all set for your anniversary trip:thumbsup2

I would request a rehabbed room. If it's intolerable, you can always ask to be moved. I suspect if you aren't trying to nap during the day or sleep-in past 0800 or so, you won't be bothered by it, but if you are, you can ask to be moved to the South Wing.

Will you be checking-in with us on vacation?

Bushdianne reported this yesterday:

I'm here!!! checked in today. We are in room 6028. I can see the CR from our balcony. My DNiece loves it here already. We had dinner at Whispering Canyon. At first they were going to put us in the back in the "quiet area" but when they saw Ihad a little one they asked if we wanted to be in the middle of the action. Of course I said yes and she had a blast. they must be working on the 5th floor becuse it was very noisy when we checked in but is quiet now. Good thing we are not nappers!

And this:

Yes. The beds are so comfortable! Of course I'd been up from 1:30 AM and didn't get to bed til 10:30PM so I might have fallen asleep anywhere. We watched Wishes from our balcony. I am assuming that we were upgraded since I reserved a standard room. I think DNiece6 would be content to stay here all day! Did have to call housekeeping as the frige was leaking. Floors 3,4& 5 are closed.

Will you be requesting the North Wing in the summer or do you want to be surprised?

Oh, is this the ceiling you're talking about?:rotfl:

Last month, you couldn't even really tell there was ever a hole there and after the rehab in July, it should be even harder to tell. You know, I think I've grown attached to that room and may not be able to request a different one - we're too familiar with all its proclivities and "history":rotfl2:

Kook, yes we always request North Wing, Courtyard View. I like to wake up to the sunrises!

Just 28 days until we arrive at WL. :woohoo: Staying in a Deluxe Room. Does anyone know if those rooms are being rehabbed and what floors will be done by June 27?

If that doesn't warrant an upgrade to the Presidential Suite, I don't know what does! WOW! I bet it took more than a little spackle to fix that!
We were perfectly content to sit in the lounge that evening and wait out the repairs:rotfl: - we loved the location of our room and water was only leaking onto to the carpeting from that spot near the sink area before the hole that was caused by one of the maintenance men's leg going through the ceiling:eek:. I was really just worried that the man was hurt (which I was assured he wasn't). Before the hole, we thought that maybe we'd just have to move to another room for the night and I asked if we could move back to that room after the repairs (we were staying 11 more nights and the room was perfect for us). Little did I know that when Randy, the CL manager, told us we'd be right next door that that was the Presidential Suite:faint:. It has two entrances and the door next to our room isn't labeled as the Yellowstone Suite so we thought it was just a room like ours.

The next morning, Randy came to our breakfast table and handed us new KTTW cards and told us we would be in the suite for the remainder of our stay:faint::worship:. I think I was speechless for a while (a rarity). This was the most unexpected and amazing upgrade ever and way beyond what was necessary to make-up for the ceiling mishap. It was my DH's first trip back to WDW after his deployment to Afghanistan and so it was already a special trip to begin with and the upgrade went above and beyond. I think you can all see now why I have only wonderful things to say about the OFC and all the CMs at WL - they are amazing people.

All the rooms are being rehabbed, including the Deluxe rooms. There are 25 of them on floors 1-6 of both wings. By the end of June, there should be rehabbed Deluxe rooms in the North Wing on floors 4, 5 and 6, so that would be about 6 Deluxe rooms:confused3. Good luck and have a great stay at WL!

Let the Pixie Dust begin!! Checked in to my flight this morning and upgraded to Business Class Seating! This is going to be fantastic with a 23 month old on my lap! More leg room and no one next to us?? Yes pls! Cannot wait to walk into the WL lobby. My heart is racing, no way I'm getting any sleep tonight!! Luckily our flight leaves at 7am! =)
