Welp, my days are just going to drag now. DD broke her arm at camp Monday:( & it already feels like it's been a month. She can't go back to camp because she can't get her cast wet, she can't run or play sports. Lots of Mommy-Daughter Time! Sooooo, how many more days????? Now that she is not in pain anymore, all I keep thinking is, it's a good thing I changed our normal trip time from Aug to Sept or we'd have a problem.:worship:
Oh, that's horrible. Is she in much pain? I hope the time goes by quickly for the both of you. We're here for you:)

Hi everyone! Fireworks advice time! One of our days is a planned Potterville day, which happens to be a MNSSHP day. So I was thinking it would great to watch Hallowishes from one of the beaches that I keep hearing so much about? I think most people like Poly the best? Any advice? And how do I get there from the Lodge?? TIA

The easiest way is to take the Blue Flag boat to the CR, then hop on the monorail to the Poly.

I've heard they are being pretty strict with issuing & checking wrist bands for resort guests only lately, not just the pool there, but also for watching fireworks, a policy I strongly agree with (as a former Poly guest).

I don't think that was ever proven to be true. Even if it were, that thread was in conjuncton with July 4th fireworks. Outside that and New Year's Eve, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you! She was actually feeling better today until she hit it on the wall. Now I see why she can definately can not go back to camp, the slightest bump & she is in pain.

This is my first post but I've been reading this thread for awhile learning some great tips from all of you. I just got back from WL (2nd x, first was in 2009). My family just love WL. We booked a woodsview rm and thanks to the info. on this thread I reminded my travel agent to request a rehabbed room in the North wing. Well to my surprise I received exactly that. Plus a room right near the elevator and facing the MK. We were able to view Wishes from our balcony on the final night. As an added bonus we had a visitor in the pond back there. 4 foot gator taking a swim 2 of the 4 mornings we were there. My kids got a huge kick out of that. I however did not see the humour. While I was there I did not see any incidents at the pool as the life guards truly are professional and on their toes. So sad it's over. Start thinking about next trip.

Dry Pro makes awesome waterproof cast covers. When my older son was 3 and broke his leg we bought one at a local medical supply place. Not only was he able to bathe with it on but we took it on a trip to a state park where he waded in a creek while wearing it. The cover didn't get a hole in it and no water got in. If you decide to get one try to go to an actual store with her to make sure you get the right size. We tried ordering one online and ended up getting one that was too big.

Glad you had a great time!!

Did you have a woods view with bunk beds? If so, what was your room #? We just booked, and I'd love to request a room with the view you described!

For those of you brave enough to follow my continuing resort changing saga, Kidani was replaced with YC/CL yesterday. Splits are lots of fun, like two vacations in one, but that 'other' resort (the non-WL one) can be hard for me to pin down:rolleyes2, but I hope I have it right this time.

:welcome: to the DIS and our WL/VWL thread, queensgal!

What a great stay you had and that little surprise in the pond:scared1:. Maybe instead of the Otter Pond it should be called the Gator Pond:scratchin. Of course, gators are all over FL. There is at least one over in the waters where the Liberty Belle Riverboat is. I've been told that one night, the gator decided to seek dry ground and they found him in the middle of the night in one of the Liberty Square bathrooms. Maybe he was looking for a turkey leg?

You definitely need to start planning another trip to WDW, and what better place than here?!

That's a great suggestion, tcufrog:thumbsup2

 Good morning, neighbor! Congratulations on booking WL:goodvibes. It's usually best not to request a specific room number because if that room is blocked, then the room assignor won't know why you requested it and can't easily try to put you into a similar room. If I were you, I would book the bunks and request a 'high floor with a Wishes view' or 'Wishes view, please.' Good luck!

Good morning!!

I like your YC/CL decision ;). They are my "other" favorite resort! You will be right in the middle of everything Epcot :goodvibes.

Thank you, I will check into that. I bought cover from the orthopedics office the day the cast went on. They really didn't want me to get it becasue they said nothing works except to keep her out of the water.

marymac- So sorry to hear about your DD. My DD was always content to play by herself or with friends, but whenever she was sick or hurt she became my little shadow. (now at 26, it's constant texting when she "needs" me) I hope she recovers quickly. Will the cast be off in time for your trip?

WDWKOOK- I really enjoy reading about your resort changes! I look forward to hearing about your YC CL experience. (if that is in fact where you end up!) ;)

Went to the pool this morning hoping it will help my back. Slow and steady, with my first goal to be ready to go back to work-and of course, WDW next summer!

Thanks for the welcome! As far as the room it was # 4034 a lower floor no doubt but we were able to view most of wishes and just seeing the castle glowing all night is such a special treat for the kids. We did not have bunk beds they were two doubles--very roomy(not sure if they were Queens) and verrrrry comfortable.

We are staying at WL the week after thanksgiving and on our arrival day we want to check out the property and FW. We plan on doing a pony ride at the ranch, dinner at trails end and the campfire singalong. I'm thinking about renting a golf cart for the day so we can do all of that and then maybe tour the camp grounds to check out Christmas decor. Has anyone done this? any info you could provide would be much appreciated!

I had a feeling you would approve. Does this mean you'll easily be able to find your way over before you depart WL;)

Well, if you like resort conflicted individuals, our little Resort Changers' thread is just for you. You don't even have to be actively changing. What am I saying, you changed your dates - you qualify!

Swimming is a great, non-impact exercise. Keep it up!

I've never rented a cart, but here's some info:

DISNEY GOLF CART RENTALS are located by the Fort Wilderness Outpost. Advance reservations are highly recommended and accepted up to one year in advance.

Phone: (407) 824-2742
Carts available: 4 person / 6 person (limited number)
Rates:
$63.54/day ($59 plus tax) for 4 person
$84/day for 6 person

Trail's End is only a couple of minutes walk from the pony ride. The campfire is near the Meadows Trading Post, in the middle of FW and you could easily take the internal bus to it. The internal bus is also a great way to see all the RV sites/decorations. I believe the carts can only be parked at the following locations:

On the driveway at your site
Near the marina
Near Trails End and the Hoop de Doo
Near the Meadows Recreation Area and Campfire/Movie
Near the Outpost Bus Stop
Near the Settlement Bus Stop

Can you walk from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness? If so, is it a very long walk?

Thanks!
Carla
