I wonder if those getting it were booked before the notice was issued. They sprung this construction up very late in the game so lots of folks had booked without knowledge.

Hopefully some of the others who have gotten a discount can let you know if they booked before or after

That may be the case. If so, we should be eligible for our second stay.
Thanks!

Oh, off topic, I notice you are from Signal Mountain. I've lived in the Chattanooga area my whole life up to four months ago! Good to see other reps from my hometown. :cool2:

Wow, cool.

Why did you decide not to put your luggage on the ME with you? I've never used ME, but I've read that guests do that to ensure their luggage goes with them:confused3. I hope you get all your luggage soon after your nap.

I had no idea you could ask for the credit upon arrival. I had only read of guests calling and speaking to Guest Services about the $50 credit. Good information for everyone - thanks:thumbsup2

We were at WDW 2 weeks ago and went to check out wilderness lodge for our upcoming trip next month. CM I spoke to had informed me the pool construction would be done before our trip 11/13. But reading the latest posts that doesn't seem like it will be the case. What phone number are you calling for the $50 credit? Not sure what WDTC stands for. Thanks :)

Called Disney guest services and after being put on hold for 10 minutes two different times the very nice lady credited our room $50 for each of the 7 nights we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. 11-16-14 through 11-23-14 with a courtyard view.We also will be able to get 4 one day pass to Blizzard Beach to be used during our vacation. Was asked if interested in upgrading to the deluxe dining plan but was not interested. Hope everyone else has the same outcome.:cool1:

I just called WDTC and was denied the room credit. Stating that I was "made aware of the construction at time of booking and therefore forfeited any right to a discount, upgrade or extra due to the condition of the property."

......

I'll call back later.

I had made our reservation for this week back in January with a BB offer. There was no mention of any pool closure at that time. I never received any letter, email, or any other notification from Disney regarding any pool closure and I even called them in June when I first saw the info on these Dis-boards and they denied it! When I finally called last week after receiving their "Welcome" email in which it mentioned the pool closure they offered to change our resort and when they could not find another comparable room they offered $50 per night credit. We are in room with a partial view of the construction but were offered the credit specifically for the unavailability of the feature pool. Guests are welcome to use pool at CR and Ft. wilderness and can request 1 day Blizzard Beach water park passes as well. We have just been using small quiet pool and it has been fine for us. The WL is wonderful even without the pool! Enjoy your visit:)

First I have heard of anyone being offered an upgrade to Deluxe dining plan in addition to the water park passes and the the $50 credit. Interesting as it sounded like it was getting more difficult to obtain any compensation at all!

I don't think she was offering her the deluxe dining as a free perk. Or was she?! That would be some super pixie dust!

Hey everyone! We are here right now, and when we checked in, the CM offered to give us the water park passes. They are good for either water park and we used them at Typhoon Lagoon on Thursday. We had a ton of fun. We have also used the "quiet pool" a few times and it wasn't too crowded. We leave today :sad1: but it has been an awesome time here. Everyone is very nice and the construction noise is minimal! :)

Sorry for the confusion. The deluxe dining was a suggestion due to the savings of $350 off of 7 nights not to be an added perk. Blizzard Beach passes were only offered because when we go 11-16 through 11-23 TL is being refurbed

Ahhh they just wanted some of that money back! Hope you have a wonderful trip! We are here now and enjoying every minute!

They will give you the room credit once you check in if you haven't gotten it sooner.

We are finding that it is quieter in the inner courtyard, upper springs area during the pool construction than during regular times. There isn't a pool party, there aren't any people walking past talking loudly, and there isn't any noise at night except the sound of the waterfall. The quiet pool is great. :) We are having a great time.

The pool construction is moving along and all the big mounds of dirt are gone. It looks a lot better now than it did last month. :)

For all the noise here about the pool closure - I am very happy that when I get there in late December - it will be finished!

Sorry for the multi-quote delay. I've been revising and reposting the BWI/BWV thread:badpc:

Only about one month until the feature pool is scheduled to re-open!

Late Winter Passholder discounts came out today.

Call center did not see it but it is online.

No standards or courtyard available but woods view to cv/wv bunk beds running $234 to $261

Club Standard is $346.

(I'm at a value in Jan for a solo trip but thought I'd check out WL and let you guys know just in case).
Thank you for the information:)

So I'm planning a trip that's two years off.... I know I know.... A long time away. But that's because I currently have an eighteen month old so I want to wait until I feel like he can really enjoy it. I hesitate to post because I don't want to seem like a crazy lady.... Lol

But I do have a question. Are travel times to the resorts good from WL? I mean I obviously need a resort that we can come back to and nap after long mornings in the park to avoid baby meltdowns. I want to stay somewhere close.

Another question I have is how are the two bedroom villas? Like, don't like? My mom is coming with us and she wants her own room... We need something nice since this is a dream trip For us. We've wanted to go for years.... Tia for any ideas advice!!!!
Welcome to the thread and just for the record, I don't think you're crazy. There are many travel options at WL which makes it ideal: Boat, bus and even walking to FW. I think you would find the two-bedroom extra roomy and nice with two bathrooms and a washer/dryer:). Happy planning!

Hi Everyone!

We are staying at WL the week after Thanksgiving! Will there be a lot of campsites decorated for Christmas at Fort Wilderness that early in the season?

Thank you for all the great information on this thread!
I've not been to FW right after T'giving, only the week before Christmas, but I would think some of the campsites will be decorated. I'm sure some who stay in December, but not during Christmas, decorate:confused3. Hello, Heather (hstrickland of FW thread fame), do you know? The guests do an amazing job and it's worth a walk or boat ride over to see it all.

Thanks a bunch for making me dig!!!:rolleyes2:p:sad2: Now I understand.

I've been here, just nothing to post. We're actually thinking about returning to our fav place in the Smokies in June instead and taking a trip to WL just DH and I next fall. We'll see.
Oh, sorry about that. We might be in the Smokies then, too:). It depends when the new Dollywood DreamMore (still dislike that name) Resort opens. No exact date has been announced, only "summer."

I *just* heard about the pool rehab! When did they announce it? I'm devastated :(
Welcome. Please see POST 2 for pool rehab information.

Please see all the 10/24/14 posts by Lsdolphin. WDTC is the Walt Disney Travel Company. It's the Disney reservation entity guests book with directly when not using a 3rd party or TA (Travel Agent). They also have access to a Disney Guest Services agent.

I'll be happy to shed some light on your question albeit dim ;) I can't make any promises. Usually on November 1st, the Spooky comes down and the Winter Wonderland commences. The week after Thanksgiving you're sure to see some fabulously decorated campsites; however, it won't be like the month of December. KOOK is correct.... worth a ride over to see. :thumbsup2

Does anyone think the camp grounds ( Fort Wilderness) will still be decorated the first week of January?

hstrickland/Heather has posted to her TR, Bill's working vacation WL construction update photos and comments! Her husband stayed at WL this past week WITHOUT HIS FAMILY:sad:. They are located HERE, (photos, not family).

I'm sure that those who decorated for Christmas will leave their decorations up. All the resorts start to take down their decorations a couple of days after NYD, but I would think that guests who are still there will leave their sites decorated.
