the playground and the beach are closed too? They didn't warn us about that. Are they doing the campfire and movie somewhere else? Can you get around this mess to get to the boats from the other side?

I forgot to say I'm sorry you're upset :( I was freaking out all summer because of all of the changes to our plans due to this.

88 days!

I assumed everything back there was going to be closed and that's why we went through the trouble we did to move to GF and then eventually move dates. When I heard about the pool the first thing I did was ask about the walkways.

My husband just said he always carries ID - what if something happened in an emergency and he needed it (was what he said - but he has some medical issues). I always carried my purse too.

yep always have some cash on me as well....just in case, but then I grew up in the age that I always had a dime and a nickel in one of the photo slots of my wallet incase I needed call home or an ambulance.

In fact I had a little cardboard holder that was the size of a wallet photo that the coins popped into.

Yes I'm kinda getting old (48 last Monday)

Saw the pic of refurb, but I'm wondering if you can still rent boats and bikes at the lodge?? I know it's down by beach and couldn't tell if it was closed off. Also what about the movies they had on the beach??

Just walked back from the boat dock and they were putting up wood walls to block off the path that goes along the lake side of the pool. As of this morning it looked like the marina/bike rental and part of the beach were still open. To get from our room on the north side to the Villas pool we had to go through the building, and it seems from the south side to the boat dock will have to as well (but not necessarily through the lobby depending on room location).

I hate to say it but please take us off of the log for this year. We switched to AKL, which we know we LOVE, but wanted to try something different. We will be here for next year's trip, hopefully!

Wow - I never envisioned them closing off the beach like that! I wonder if the geyser will still go off.

As far as movies on the beach - hopefully someone will report back about that. Maybe they will show them in the Carolwood Pacific room in the villas. That is where they are in bad weather.

And there is a thread to discuss the Wilderness Lodge mess. But I think that pictures of the construction and details about what is closed, etc, belong here. This thread is instructional and the other thread is emotional. :)

I agree, well said! This thread is a valuable resource for WL info.

Thank you to all who have posted live updates and photos. It is informative to see what is being refurbished at the lodge. I am looking forward to a future stay at an improved lodge.

Dyznotyzed thanks for the pics. Can't believe how much they have blocked off for a "pool" rehab. So much for our first night plan to let our daughter play on the playground while we wait to watch the fireworks.

I would consider heading over to Fort Wilderness to do the same. Our daughter enjoyed that playground more, and while further away the fireworks view is probably less obstructed.

Isn't there a separate thread for all the pool talk?

Yes, well said. I think as long as the comments are updates and question/answer, they should remain. Moaning and groaning should go elsewhere.

I can't help but wonder if this is where the "expanded" pool deck will be. Or will the splash pad be closer to the beach than first suggested. Certainly there is no need for a pool fence/gate that close to the lake.

We have only been to WCC. We have no idea about the set up of the resort. The beach being closed is a real bummer. Looking forward to the campfire and the water parade. Had we had any idea we very likely would have switched. What is left that makes this a "Deluxe resort". I am not being rude but would like to know what is left. Is the Geyser still going off? Do we still have the boats?

There are two docks, the North one is off the end of the North wing and that's where the boats to MK and the other Bay Lake resorts are. The South dock has the rental boats, and near it there is the bike rental place (near the closed beach and playground). From this area you can head South of the South wing to the villas courtyard and the Hidden Springs pool which is open.
Artist Point is a nice higher end TS restaurant near WCC but on the way down the ramp. Further down the ramp on the 1st floor is Roaring Fork, WL's Quick Service food location and mug refill place. The waterfall at the West end of the courtyard above the pool has recently been refurbished and is pretty.
You are also still located quite close to MK, and walking distance from Fort Wilderness. You also still have the benefit of the entire resort being under one roof with interior hallways which is great in the rain. Each room also has its own balcony, which is nice too.

I asked this a couple of pages back, but if someone could direct me to where to find the information that would be great.

I am just wondering what they are doing to the pool? I see mention of splash pad. Is it going to be like the Mad Hatter one at GF? What else are they adding.

All the info that has been collected is on post two here:http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=51688584&postcount=2

We just don't know all of what will be done, as the playground closing was a surprise.

Thank you.

Deluxe question. Have not stayed deluxe in 30 years, moderate in over 20. In the in room coffee maker do you get several pods? Do you get one for the entire trip or are they limitless like at Universal? The one time we stayed at CBR I drank the coffee the first day and it was never replenished. I was young then and it never occurred to me to ask for more.

Also DD likes French vanilla creamer do they have that in the room or at Roaring Forks or should I plan on bringing some from home.

One more question what are the hours for the bottomless cup refills?
