You can get room service at VWL, but it's awfully expensive. A better option is just getting takeout from Roaring Fork, IMHO.

Takeout would be my first choice...are the selections at Roaring Fork pretty good? We have reservations at Whispering Caverns one night also.

It is expensive but it's very good. We opted to use the meal plan for dinner and got two huge meals with enough for lunch the next day. It was well worth it.

I always like to have room service as an option in case we're just to popped to go out! We don't have a meal plan but I don't mind paying for the service if the food is decent and my DH and I usually will split a meal to watch the calories and of course to leave room for the kids left overs! Ha! :)

I like Roaring Fork but I know people complain the dining room is small and they have fewer selections than some of the other resorts. I like the chicken nuggets and burger. They also have flatbreads and sandwiches. They are known for the magic bar and I think a carrot cake cupcake but I didn't try that.

It does get very crowded though - my husband is blind and it was hard for him because they have several roped off lines in a small area. I know they are trying out a new pick up service where they give you a number though.

When I say expensive for room service I'm talking over $100. We ordered a steak and a chicken/pasta dish along with desserts and a glass of wine/perrier for me. We got the itemized bill but as I said used the meal plan so we paid nothing.

We also did breakfast twice oop and that was around $50.

Hi. :wave2: I have not been keeping up with this thread very much. I was thinking of adding 1 night to stay here for our upcoming trip. I know that the pool will be open before we arrive but what are they doing to it? Can someone direct me to the right place for info. Thank you!

Question. Is this $50 per night or $50 off the entire stay. I'm sure this is listed somewhere on this thread but work has been crazy as I am trying to finish things up before we leave next week for the lodge.

Thanks

My apologies that in our rush to hurry off to theme park fun, I wasn't more thorough in exploring what was happening with pool construction. There has indeed been a lot going on in the past few days, as pictured below. They started down by the marina and are working their way up to the main pool.

It was $50/night but not automatic - you have to call the number on the letter.

The info on the pool closure is in post number 2. It looks like you arrive a few days before we do. Everything should be done by then (we hope).

Wow! Thanks for the picture updates on the pool. We arrive on the 25th and I'll be following this thread until the day we leave to check on the construction mess.

Thank you for sharing the pictures! Is the children's play area on beach closed, or is there another entry? Have a great day!

HI Everyone !!! Just returned from our 7 day stay Standard View Room 5064. But maybe it wasn't a standard view because every night we saw the MK fireworks from our balcony. We enjoyed our stay but would we stay again most likely not. The food options were very slim and of course the rooms were small but we were aware of this before arriving. One of the nights the boats were not running and we had to take the bus from MK which was a pain since our kids were asleep and we had to fold up our strollers and ride the crowded bus which took about 20mins to get All the other days we didn't have any transportation issues. Loved the pool and some how only managed to see the Geyser go off 1 time. We wanted to order drinks at the bar but they wanted to see our ID and of course we don't carry it. SO no alcohol for me :( Like I said it was a nice hotel and it was worth a try.
I had the same problem at the pool bar! I wish it could be noted on the magic band or something!

Am I the only one who doesn't drink LOL? My hubby looks young and was never carded but he was buying from the Mercantile and not the bar...I wonder if it matters? We are in our 30s and look younger.

I do drink but not much and rarely at WDW (in fact can only think a few times in all my trips and 2 of those were tiny beer samples at F&W) but I never go anywhere without my id. Especially this year with an AP as they make you show it every time you use it.

We should have a balcony this fall so we'll probably have some drinks while overlooking the lovely CV (construction view)... ;) ...but it'll probably be stuff we bring ourselves. (can only have certain brands of liquor now) so hopefully I won't get carded by my mom!

I didn't think of that. I had my ID everywhere else Epcot, restaurants etc. but of course was never asked when I had it! I just didn't think to bring it to the pool. I'm 41 & went up with my mother so we could get a drink while relaxing by the pool. They wouldn't even let her vouch for me! Lol.

the playground and the beach are closed too? They didn't warn us about that. Are they doing the campfire and movie somewhere else? Can you get around this mess to get to the boats from the other side?

Leaving tonight to check in tomorrow!! Super excited!!

Went ahead and got flu shot for this year, even though I doubt it does much good. Brought home strain A of the flu this time last year when we went....hopefully that won't happen this year!!

Only a few more minutes at work.....woohoo!!!!!!!:cool1:

YEA! Have fun I'm jealous. I've still got like 50 days :faint:

We replaced our entire online catalog, our circulation control system, our money receiving software and our public computer sign up system over labor day weekend and went live with everything Tuesday morning.

Holy Crap, I need a vacation.

I assumed everything back there was going to be closed and that's why we went through the trouble we did to move to GF and then eventually move dates. When I heard about the pool the first thing I did was ask about the walkways.

My husband just said he always carries ID - what if something happened in an emergency and he needed it (was what he said - but he has some medical issues). I always carried my purse too.
