I can't believe I don't remember the Flag Family Time:confused3!!! I looked through my files and all I found was the envelope the letter came in and the cool certificate Ranger Jack gives you. I then remembered that I handed the letter to Ranger Jack when we arrived and I never got it back.Sorry.:worried:
Wouldn't the time be by 0800? Since that's when flags should be raised? Or do they do it differently at Disney.

We check into the WL in only two days. :goodvibes DH is all packed, as usual, but I haven't started yet. I've washed and ironed all the clothes that we plan to bring, though, so that's a start.

I'll make sure to post an update on the pool construction and try to find out what I can about the progress. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

I joined the thread as we booked yesterday for the WL in October 2015. Really looking forward to it. :goodvibes

Yay for 2 days!!! :banana:Have a fabulous time - as I know you will :thumbsup2 DH will be at the WL this week, too. He has a conference at the Swan but chose to stay at the Lodge...go figure. If you see a couple of guys walking around in sports coats and slacks looking completely out of place, he'll be one of them

Get packing!;)

Also, sorry if this is old hat, but anyone have the magic decoder ring for what busses go where that depart from WL? I know some go to GF on their way to the other parks -- anyone know which ones (Epcot, AK, Hollywood)? According to the pool closure, one goes to Contemporary as well -- does it say "Contemporary"? Is there any bus that stops at Poly? Thanks!
It has been our experience that buses to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom share with the Grand Floridian, although one time we were on a bus to AK that shared with Fort Wilderness instead of GF. The bus to Epcot shares with Fort Wilderness. When we were at the WL during a time when the monrial was down the MK bus stopped at the Contemporary for guests. I would guess that the MK bus might do that during pool construction, but that would only be a guess. :) I don''t think there are any buses that stop at the Poly, except for maybe the early morning ADR bus. But you can get there by taking the boat from WL to CR, then catching the monorail.

Have a fantastic time!!! pixiedust:
Thanks. We will be having our daughter, son-in-law and five year old grandson join us for the weekend. We'll be going to MNSSHP on Friday, the first time for all of us. I can't wait. :goodvibes

They definitely would be out of place at the WL. :rolleyes1 I'll keep on eye out, though. He probably has a car, but if he needs to take a cab, let him know that we only paid $8.00 plus tip to travel from the WL to the Yacht Club one rainy afternoon. :thumbsup2

WDW: Hi I'm Grace how can I help you this morning.

Me: I'm checking in on Sunday and wanted to get my remaining balance and check on my requests......

Normal conversations all my requests had disappeared, fixed that, etc

Me: Also can I add a request for a Microwave for medical reasons.

WDW:............I've checked on that and all rooms come with a microwave so you'll be fine.....

Me: um....no ma'am they don't. Villas have microwaves, I'm just in a regular hotel room they don't come with microwaves.

WDW: They don't? Maybe my system has the wrong information?

Me: yeah that happens

WDW: okay I've added the request.....

normal end to the conversation.

Either call center madness strikes again or there is perk I missed in the description.

Call Centers. Hate them. One of the worse inventions ever. Putting folks who know nothing about what they are representing on the front lines. Stupid.

After months of research on the WL we have decided to switch to the Yacht Club for marathon weekend. It was a tough decision that I contemplated for over a week. We will need to be removed from the lodgers log. I hope to be at the lodge in February for a few nights after a convention with my mother.

Perfect, thanks! BTW, I asked front desk about bus/shuttle to Contemporary, saying the pool closure announcement said they would be offered. She checked and said just the boats. Waiting for a boat to Contemporary can be *slow* depending on whether you get the clockwise (coming from FW then going to Contemporary) or counterclockwise boat (coming from Contemporary then going to FW).

As an aside, someone should create a matrix of originations/destinations within WDW and what transportation options there are to get there -- is this something that already exists or did I just nominate myself? :p

Randy S., who was the wonderful OFC Manager for about 4 years and who was on a 4-month temporary assignment to POR/POFQ as their Recreation GSM, will be returning to Bay Lake:goodvibes. He will be starting a new permanent position in November as the Recreation Guest Services Manager at Disney's Contemporary Resort:beach:. He will be greatly missed at WL, but we are very excited for him and know he will be such an asset to CR. They are very lucky to have such a dedicated and caring CM. I know that he would love visitors so don't hesitate to take the Blue Flag over (or a Sea Raycer;)) and say HOWDY!

I know this is the WL thread, but we technically will be making a 'visit' to the WL this weekend! We are staying at POP as that was really that was all available.
But we will take the boat over to say 'hello' and have a look at the construction.

DH had to come home due to his mother's health and she ended up passing away on 10/12. DH is doing ok, as he was sort of prepared for this. His mom had survived a cancerous brain tumor 7 years ago and lived 6 years longer than they had given her.

DH is also turning 40 this year, and he will be back in Afghanistan so we are going to celebrate it while we are there.

I can't believe I woke up the morning and went "Let's go to Disney tomorrow" and DH went, whatever you want to do!
Your DMIL defied all odds. Must have been a very bittersweet unexpected homecoming for DH. Just saw on your TR that you've extended your stay till the 25th:thumbsup2

Does anyone have any updated pool construction photos?
WoodNymph will in just a few days:)

We will be staying at WL (for the first time!!) Dec 11-16th! We switched resorts a number of times (4) but decided on WL since we have never stayed there before. I am a little nervous because we usually stay at one of the Epcot resorts and love being able to walk to Epcot and DHS.. but I am also excited to try out WL! :goodvibes

A couple of questions:

1) We have a courtyard view with bunk beds. We have 3 adults and a 16 year old.. Are the bunk beds comfortable for adults/older kids?

2) I am so used to timing everything from the Epcot resorts, I feel lost here, ha ha. If we want to make it to rope drop at MK by taking the boat, about how much time should we allow?
Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates in POST 2. The bunks are twin-sized so adults and teens will "fit," but it's a very tight fit.

;)

DS was a distance runner in HS and has ventured on to collegiate XC now. He ran the trails between WF and FW every day for between 8-10 miles and they were fine. I'm sure it'll be a little more comfortable for your DS running in the spring than it was in July.:scared1: Good luck to him in his final HS season! :thumbsup2

P.S. You picked a great resort for 'down time!' Don't count on this being your last trip together.
The lounge never knew what hit them after your DS was done running 8 miles.

My daughter's best friend says decor is going up on 11/18, she works at WDW.
Thank you!

So, I will be at WL Jan.19-27 for my Disneymoon...this will be my new husband's first time at DW...I mentioned that there are celebration buttons that we can wear...he balked...I was just wondering what examples people have of pixie dust when wearing the celebration buttons? I recognize the pixie dust is at CM discretion, but just looking for examples to convince my significant other the buttons are a good thing

I can only dream of getting him to wear the tux mouse ears
Congratulations again on your Disneymoon! Get those cute tux ears and the buttons and he'll have no choice but to wear them…it's in the pre-nup, right?

Hi there!

We just booked Wilderness Lodge for 8/22 to 8/29. It will be me, DH and our two kids ages 14 and 9 at time of travel.

We have never stayed at WL before, so we are looking forward to it. We were supposed to stay here in August 2014, but for many reasons too boring to go into here, we had to switch our reservation to the Contemporary. I ended up not being all that thrilled with the Contemporary (theme there just not for me), so I'm glad I'm getting the chance for a "re-do" so to speak.
I'll add your dates, too. Your going to love your first stay and WL (and subsequent stays;)).

Can you add us the Lodger's Log?

11/29-12/07, 2015 WL-CL. We are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and my husband's 45th birthday!
Of course I'll add you and welcome to the thread! Don't forget to have your special occasions noted in your reservation. You can email the IPO with them.

Oh KOOK! I belong in the resort changers thread. We started at CBR because I insisted that I was NOT going to pay deluxe prices...then the free dining promotion came out and I jumped on the WL and of course, upgraded to deluxe dining...like I need it...but plan on using the table service time to get out of the Christmas crowds....then we decided to go to the BC so that we could walk to two parks because we got scared of transportation at the busy time...(AND NO...you probably didn't miss it...I probably forgot to tell you!) and now we are back because well...Christmas won't be Christmas at the Beach so it had to be the WL!
You might not be surprised that this all makes perfect sense to me:thumbsup2

WDWKOOK! I'm finally getting back to The Lodge! Can you add me to the Lodgers Log VWL 2/22-26?
Well it's about time:rolleyes1. VWL it is!

He shall wear the button, at least for part of the week. He will get a reprieve when we visit Universal for a couple of days
No, no reprieve. He shall wear the button at US too, for continuity of button-wearing proposes;)

Hello,
What is the easiest / quickest way to get from WL to disney's ticket and transportation centre? Approx how long will this take?

Many thanks :goodvibes
Quickest using Disney Transportation would probably be the MK bus then monorail or ferry to TTC. It depends on if the ferry is boarding. If it isn't, it's faster to take the monorail. The TTC is the second stop from MK.

You can also take the Blue Flag boat to CR and then the TTC is the first monorail stop.

Good afternoon,

The fear of the pool not being finished/still being a construction site at the end of November won. I just couldn't... It would have ruined our experience (we are pool people lol).

We are postponing our stay to our next trip in April. We switched to Coronado (been there before and we love it so we know we won't be disappointed)... Got a better room and managed to save a few dollars.

Looking forward to April though. At least the new pool will be there. :)
Totally understand. Enjoy CSR and did you book Business Class?

I'd love to know too! Also, got an email from them about our stay. Says characters in the lobby from 4-7 on Halloween night. Any guesses which characters? Wondering if worth coming back to resort for this in between parks and dinner ressies.
Thank you for posting about the characters.

Hey Kook!!!
Sorry about how I keep popping in and out, but life has been getting the better of us lately:crazy2:- knee surgery for me, then a heart Ablation and another Inversion last Tuesday for DH (we're both fine!:)), then a family friend for 5 decades passed away and off we went for 4 days to his funeral. But it's all settling down now and we're looking forward to our visit to WL CL on 11/9-17. It's still hard to believe we're going!!

What personnel changes, besides Randy, should we expect:listen:?? I'll be getting together another goodie bag for the gang and we're hoping most of the "regulars" will still be on board at CL.

We're still talking about our trip last Feb., when we did the KTTK Tour(saw Cinderella jogging, plugged into her Ipod), Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise(we were the only adults there with no children!),Wild Afrika Trek Tour(AMAZING), AND DH & I were the Flag Family last day at WL. Talk about a thrill!!!! We were on the roof for two hours!!!!! Got some beautiful pics from up there! Love Ranger Jack!!!

Walked to FW, where we saw the ponies out and about, playing with each other. So sweet and cute. A deer crossed our path on the way. Just one magical day after another.

This time, we're going on a carriage ride at FW (as well as having a breakfast & dinner there). We're also signed up for archery lessons there.
DH is looking forward to the Steam Engine Tour at MK -he loves loves loves those trains!!!

We actually don't have much planned. We did so much in Feb., we felt we didn't get to spend much time at the Lodge, so this time, we're kicking back and relaxing more. We're doing the afternoon tea at GF the day we check in, to kinda ease us into relaxation mode. We did the tea a year ago and it was so nice. The Cinderella carriage went past, with the CM's all dressed up, on their way to pick up a bride and it seemed like a dream sequence, sitting there, seeing that go past!!

Saw the pics of the pool....kinda messy.....we didn't use the pool last time and we we're hoping to this time, but oh well, just leaves more to look forward to on our next visit......

Received our Welcome letter from WL. I replied with the requests for a carriage ride and archery and they took care of it real fast. I also put in a request for the same room as Feb., 7127 (I think that's the one??). We know we'll be overlooking the pool mess, but we do like seeing the water too.

See what happens when I'm not around for awhile-I can't stop talking!!!

Just glad to be back and checking in with everyone. Makes me feel like life is returning to normal.
 welcome back!

I love the way you do Disney World. Your last trip sounded like so much fun.

Randy has not been there for four months, but yes, most/all of the CL CMs you know and love are still there.

You and DH have been through enough drama for a very long time. Hope DH is in rhythm now and you're on the mend. It's time to start planning your trip and enjoying the anticipation. I do think you had our favorite room which is 7127. Your trip will be here so soon - have a great time!

What time is the Flag Family up on the roof?

I thought about checking to see if anyone was doing it on two of our mornings but wanted to see what time before volunteering incase it wouldn't work with our schedule.
I thought it started around 8:15 and was done around 8:30 - 8:45? I think the FF comes up to CL around that time.

Room requests: fax or phone them in?
Either call them in to the WDTC/CRO or if you're booked CL, you can email/call the IPO with your requests. Requests should be added NLT one week prior to arrival.

Thanks CuteAsMinnie! Glad to hear that you can get in that many miles on the Trails. And thanks for the P.S. My friends have told me that as long as you are paying for a trip, the older kids will keep vacationing with you
This is good to know since mine just turned 16. At what age do they start paying?

We check into the WL in only two days. :goodvibes DH is all packed, as usual, but I haven't started yet. I've washed and ironed all the clothes that we plan to bring, though, so that's a start.

I'll make sure to post an update on the pool construction and try to find out what I can about the progress.
Sounds great and have a safe trip south.

Hi Everyone,

You were right - no microwaves in WL rooms, only the one at RF. Wouldn't you just love to see their "system information"? That would be a real hoot.

Great! Thanks so much. It's been a little bit since our last update- loking forward to seeing what's the latest and if they still plan on being done in time. Please see if you can find this out. Thanks and safe travels to you :)

I so hope it's on schedule myself. I doubt DH and I will be swimming on our trip but I can say that I would love to have a chance to soak in a hot tub

Thanks. I'm familiar with all the options, but looking for a Point A to Point B matrix. Did I miss it on that site?
More what I'm looking for, but looks like the more the straightforward options -- doesn't have the sneaky options like take boat to Contemporary, monorail to Poly, take AK/HW bus to GF, take monorail to MK, take boat to Contemporary, Walk to MK, take boat to Contemporary, monorail to TTC, monorail to Epcot, etc. For that matter, it lacks the straightforward options of boat to MK from WL :) Also a printable matrix would be cool. Sounds like a project for myself.

Not a matrix, but specific to WL...
